About

Welcome to The Land and the world of Spitfyre, our exciting game of aerial warfare in a fantasy world. Enter a world where Dwarves and Orcs fly giant creatures and arm them with bombs and machine guns to continue their millennia long struggles... Come fight in the skies of Spitfyre and see if you can reign supreme over The Land!

Spitfyre is a fun 'Historo-Fantasy' miniature aerial wargame in which 10mm scale miniatures are used to depict the everyday struggles of standard fantasy races such as Orcs and Dwarves fight out battles with 20th century weaponry.

We are keeping this Kickstarter very simple with three basic pledge levels. The key one is 'Pilot' where pledgers will receive a discounted copy of the core game and ALL stretch goals added in FREE of charge.

THE TARGET - £1000

Spitfyre - the core game Spitfyre - the core game

The target goal is to produce the core game which will include the rulebook, a flight of three 10mm scale resin Orc Spitfyre wyverns, a flight of four 10mm scale polyurethane resin Dwarf War-Eagles and seven flying bases.

STRETCH GOAL I - £1500

If we reach Stretch Goal I, all Pilot backers will have one polyurethane resin 10mm scale Dwarf KampfGrier 87 vulture dive bomber and flying base added to their pledge for free and the rules will be extended to include dive bombing.

According to my calculations, a Fokker Triplane should be almost exacly 500 in wingspan in 1:144 scale, so the scale should be a pretty even match.

(The Triplane was one of if not THE plane with the shortest wingspan during WWI )

Even the HurriKane seem to have the pilot at a pretty close match if you compare the size of pilots against the size of their 'aircraft'.

I don't understand why there is an aversion to the scale. I have spent years playing aerial combat games running from 1/144th to 1/72nd, I would say that 10mm is just about perfect for something like this.

Interesting.  Yeah, I am interested but more concerned at their low goal.

It's stuff they were planning to do anyway as their yearly small game releaswe (like their Futbowl game last year, soccer in the trenches of Panzerfauste) but this time they're putting it on KS to see if the extra publicity means it sells a bit better (Futbowl did well at shows where people could see the minis and try the game rom the sound of it but direct orders were slim)

So since they do their own 3d printing, and casting they don't need huge amounts to make it happen and hopefully more people buying in early will mean more sales in the long term with KS backers being able to show off the game

Some folks buy the minis to use elsewhere and never play the game. I've developed a bit of a habit of filling in holes in my 28mm collection with board game sculpts. :)

These look like tons of fun, but at 10mm, I wouldn't have anything to do with them and I certainly don't need yet another game to play. Folks who are more interested in new games or pieces for existing 10mm games would probably be more excited about this stuff than I am.

A stripped down version of the core rules is available on wargamevault (search for spitfire I can't link as the site sells stuff)

the condor is funded and a new stretch goal appears

STRETCH GOAL IV - £5000

If we reach Stretch Goal IV, all Pilot backers will have one polyurethane resin 10mm scale Gnome Faucon fighter and flying base added to their pledge for free and the rules will be extended to include the Gnomes.

Update #6

Towards New Skies…

When we came up with the idea for this year’s beer ’n’ pretzels Panzerfäuste game - an air combat game with dragons and war-eagles, we thought it was pretty cool. Initially the idea was to do something like Futbowel, a small set of rules with some miniatures - a flight of dragons and a flight of eagles.

We then thought, hey if we use Kickstarter we might be able to expand the range sightly with a few more cool models like the vulture dive bomber. So we drew up a list with four stretch goals that we thought, if we were lucky, we might just get through in a two week period - but as long as we got the vulture hey?

In just two and a half days you guys have blown us away with your enthusiasm and pledges and have funded all the planned stretch goals, thank you all so much.

So what are we going to do for the next eleven and a half days?

Well, we’re going to head off for new skies and unveil the first planned Spitfyre supplement six months early!

This will have to be an add-on (the current Pilot pledge gets over £60 of product for just £25), but the idea is that we will do the same approach again, a £25 set with three free model stretch goal add-ons (including the biggest model yet).

We’ll announce the details later and a new £50 pledge level for both the basic game set and the new supplement (and all stretch goals from both), hopefully giving Will a chance to do some sketches for it!

Once again, many, many thanks, you lot are brilliant…

Sounds good, extra factions will help the game and with making it a separate product means no worries about too much product for too little money (it's always good to get free stuff, but too much free stuff tends to lead to problems)

In an effort to reduce confusion by people seeking information and asking on topic questions, we are creating two threads for our Bones 4 Kickstarter.
This is the thread for conversations, enthusiasm, and commentary.
This thread will be lightly moderated to ensure forum rules are followed and specific questions may be relocated to the Official Information thread.

A DCC RPG boxed setting for Lankhmar, officially licensed by the estate of Fritz Leiber. Adventure with Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser!

There are three basic pledge levels:
The PDF pledge level includes an electronic edition of the final boxed set. (Obviously there will be no box!) This level does not include any physical rewards, add-ons or stretch goals. The boxed set includes the core boxed set as described above. All electronic stretch goals (PDFs) will apply to this level. Some of the physical stretch goals will apply to this level, generally those that fit in the box. The final level includes the boxed set as well as the "print pack." All electronic stretch goals (PDFs) will apply to this level. All of the physical stretch goals will apply, as well. Those that do not fit in the box will be shipped in a separate "print pack." See below for more information on these stretch goals.
      Stretch Goals
DCC Lankhmar continues a long tradition in RPG gaming, and we want to do right by the estate of Fritz Leiber. The stretch goals associated with this Kickstarter will help create an even more amazing tribute to the world of Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser.
Stretch goals fall into three categories:
PDF stretch goals that all backers receive Print stretch goals that can fit into the boxed set, which will be included with any pledge that has the physical boxed set The "Print Pack," which is a printed collection of the stretch goals which don't fit in the boxed set Here is a rough outline of possible stretch goals, which may evolve as the Kickstarter continues.
At $40,000: Cleared! We will add a new Lankhmar adventure module (PDF for all backers; print copy in the Print Pack)
At $60,000: We will print the poster map larger (included in boxed set)
At $80,000: We will add a second Lankhmar adventure module (PDF for all backers; print copy in the Print Pack)
At $100,000: We will add a supplement called "A Dozen Lankhmar Locations," which will provide information, maps, and floorplans on setting adventures in a dozen famous Lankhmar locales (including the Silver Eel!) (PDF for all backers; print copy in the boxed set)
At $120,000: We will add a third Lankhmar adventure module (PDF for all backers; print copy in the Print Pack)
At $140,000: We will add a supplement called "Random NPCs in Lankhmar," which will provide tables and information for generating random NPCs that your PCs can encounter in Lankhmar (PDF for all backers; print copy in the Print Pack)
At $160,000: We will add a fourth Lankhmar adventure module (PDF for all backers; print copy in the Print Pack)
At $180,000: We will add a Lankhmar-themed three-panel Judges Screen (PDF for all backers; print copy in the boxed set)
At $200,000: We will add a fifth Lankhmar adventure module (PDF for all backers; print copy in the Print Pack)
At $220,000: We will add a cloth map in the boxed set (print copy in the boxed set)
At $240,000: We will add a sixth Lankhmar adventure module (PDF for all backers; print copy in the Print Pack)
At $250,000: We will add send Michael Curtis to Houston for a week to research the Fritz Leiber archives in the University of Houston. We anticipate this may result in a new product of some kind to be delivered to backers of this Kickstarter, but exactly what we'll discover in the archives - and what product may result from it - can't be determined until Michael sets foot in the archives!
