Recommended Posts

I'm kinda on time!

Please see the main post here for rules, questions and general chatter, while using this thread to keep a list of links to your show-offs or show-off related comments in a single post: A reminder to please adhere to miniatures posting guidelines as usual.

All the information you need should be here.

Due to the revised format, there will be more than one bonus challenge available for this month. Including a "Hard mode" which Is some combination that may or may not have a source behind it.

Your challenge is: 9!

Bonus Challenge: The First!

(Is this a re-hash? I don't recall.)
Fall! Modify/paint a mini/minis to be falling/fallen. (Translate fallen how you will.)

Bonus Challenge: The Second!

December 14th is National Bouillabaisse Day.  For those unfamiliar, this is a Fish Stew from southern France. Paint a mini that incorporates a fish motif.

Hard Mode Challenge!
Under Wraps:
Paint a mini so that anything that any armor-weapons-cloth-etc looks like it's patterned wrapping paper. This is assuming a humanoid figure. Dragons or such apply the same challenge to the whole body.

Stop the presses!
Bonus, The third!
With the breaking news of our beloved space pope leaving Reaper - let's see what you can paint up as a tribute to him. Bonus points for actually making a "bryanzilla" mini accurate to the avatar.

Good luck

The game is made up and the points don't matter

Here's what I've finished in the last two months. Sorry for the bad quality group shot.

The bugbear is a wizkids mini, and beside it is a reaper bones 77207: Dub Bullock and reaper bones 77206: Friar Stone.

The six on the left are part of my skaven blood bowl team. It took me forever to get started on painting them, and I decided to do red an green for Christmas skaven.

I just finished the space wolves yesterday, they didn't turn out great but I had fun painting them, and bonus blood bowl orcs above, which I'm not sure if I painted within the past 2 months.

      Well,

After a long time of having only posted WIPs and being not able to finish something, here is another Show Off.

Actually she is already a bit older, but - a finished miniature is a finished miniatures ...

I painted her as some kind of a test using some new washes and trying some techniques. Came out pretty decent, I think.

The only mistake I made back then was to give her a coat of mat laquer in the end. That did some frosting (a problem that ruined the arcane spellmaster later on), but opposite to the other figures I lost using laquer, I somehow managed to save most of her. Well, one of her eyes is a bit blind and on some detail shots you can see the leftovers of the frosting.

But nevertheless - I managed to try out some techniques regarding the skin and the clothes and it somehow makes me proud.

P.S.: Yes - yes - the frosting on the base is intentional. A friend suggested that I should try a late autumn base with first pieces of snow and ice - like in "The house of flying daggers".

Here's my take on this cute little guy. I tried to do more glazes on him than the way I normally paint, and his eyes are violet, which I think came out ok. Wishing I'd been able to get the huge mold line off his head but oh well. He's still adorbs.

Painted mainly just by drybrushing. The sculpt screamed grizzly bear, so I tried to emulate those colors.

I think this is my quickest figure yet, and one of my favorites. Any advice and critiques are appreciated!

My first figure of the year, and also my first speedpaint (AKA I tried not to get perfectionist over every detail)

I followed the kit's instructions on the cloak, then did my own thing on the rest, which accidentally wound up being pretty similar to most of the other ltpk Anirions I've seen.

This wasn't my favorite sculpt, and the mold lines were terrible, especially on her hand, but I was able to practice and learn a lot by painting her. Any critiques and advice for future figures are welcome and appreciated!

So, since the RPChallenge Requests a Show-Off, here's my first point for this year! I'm really proud of her!
I'm not sure which of the starting survivors she is, but...

      Better Pictures (edit):

Critique would be appreciated. I will admit, I used too light a skin color for the OSL to look right over, and it is toned down enough that you can't really tell in person. I wanted to give the lantern a soft glow, rather than a bright one, to capture the hopelessness that is Kingdom Death.
