That is a WONDERFUL creation. You have reached another level of brushwork; Zoe's BEAUTIFULLY expressive face is testament to that. GREAT brushwork, color selection, & basing add up to a VERY WELL DONE!

Thanks Chaoswolf;

I didn't know you were a golden Retriever fan, I have always been.

Extremely loyal, and playful animal.

Plus, they have a face that just says I "Wubsss wuuuu"..LOL

Getting the character into the face was a lot of fun.

I recommend you get it !

Strong work!  Your extra effort on the face really shows, and I like the red scarf.

Dave Summers sculpted this figure, but the real Zoe was the companion of Michael Proctor (one of Reaper's superstar painters, and a Reaper MSP Medalist).

You could send Michael a message ( @Clever Crow ) to tell him about this thread, since he would probably like to see your rendition.

Thank you Derek;

I sent that message to Michael.

I hope he appreciates what I did, and had to say about ZOE !

Thanks again.

Wow!!!  So very awesome!  Yes, Zoe was my faithful companion for many years and after her passing Jim Ludwig at Darksword miniatures offered to make a tribute piece for her.  We live in the mountains of Colorado, Zoe loved the outdoors and we went on many backwoods adventures..  so jim and I thought that she would make a great ranger...

so happy to see her painted!  You did such a great job thanks!

      Bunny Girls, modeled by Brother vinnie. Need I say more?

      There's also a set of bunnies to choose for those who need a familiar or just to add to a diorama.

      If you've seen my other posts here, you know I normally work on larger scale figures.  But recently I took on a commission to paint the 28mm version of Kingdom Death's White Speaker.  I actually painted the 54mm version a few years back, so I thought it'd be an interesting exercise to see how I could do on the 28mm one.

      So far my focus has been on the skin.  The other sections just have some dark undercoats.  I played around with my mixes a bit on this one.  I started by base coating her with a 2:1 mix of Rosy Shadow and Bronzed Shadow.  I then used a 4:1 mix of Chestnut Brown and Rosy Shadow to create the darkest shadows.  From there I worked up to a 3:1 mix of Rosy Skin and Bronzed Skin and finally added in Fair Highlight for the brightest parts.  Although she's a female figure, I still went for a more dramatic contrast range and brought out some of the muscles more than I might on a different female subject.  This one is a badass warrior, so she should be pretty fit.

      These are what I finished painting this year, a year that was somewhat abbreviated by world events. Really, this is what I painted in the last six months, since political dismay kept me from the miniatures table for approximately eight months after the last US Presidential election.

      This year I painted my first Reaper Warlord figures who were also my first oversized werewolves, 77754 the Rageclaw Slayer, and 77755, Aislinn, Shadow Tracker.

      Nearly everything I painted was for the White Wolf World of Darkness and Exalted.

      After ALL this Time I am going to Post a  WIP ???
      Well, I broke all my rules about painting a miniature with this one.
      I designed the BASE FIRST (do that last Normally).
      Attached the figure to the base, its glued and pinned (becoming a nut-job really).
      So now I have to paint this puppy on its base, and I have NO CLUE as to what it is.
      Two eyes, claws, lots of mouth, furry, and VERY Little.  Might be smaller than my dwarf that I posted.
      I believe it is.
      So I'll try to post photos as I go about this.  Maybe I'll learn something, maybe not.
      Here is the start of the little Woolly creature on his base made from a piece of 1000 year old oak bark,
      taken from the area where the crotch of a limb might have been.
      Toss a comment in if you feel like it.
      Jay
