Spent a good part of my afternoon/evening doing some work on the green today.  Half done.  Only completed one side.  Will do the flip side tomorrow.

Before I started researching for this project, I didn't realize the extreme brilliance and variety of color that existed in lizards.  Blue ones, in particular, amazed me.  Can't wait to finish off that one.  It will probably rival my love of the red dragon head.

Blue head complete!  Meaning all 5 heads are complete.  Now I will obsess for a week wondering if I really am finished with them while trying to move forward on the body.

I love how you carried the head color back into the horns which then fade out to a neutral color.

Now I am waiting to see how you pull that off on the main body where all of these lovely heads meet up.  :B):

Belly rub complete.

I'm thinking I'll be working next on all the other areas that are hard to get to when he's attached to his base.  Feets and legs and tail bits.  Then base next because I found some pictorial inspiration for it.

Last couple days have been spent on the parts that will be harder to reach once she's planted permanently on the base.  Mostly the insides of the appendages and feet.  Also, the parts of her tail that sit against the base, but that area is kind of boring so not pictured here.

Based with Chestnut Brown.  Then washed with Nightshade Purple.

Bringing back some of the base on the highlighted edges.

Then drybrushing on the highlights, Highlight Orange and Youthful Flesh.  The effects of the two will be more apparent on the larger scales when I get to them.

Oh yeah.  I also did her nails.  Though I'm thinking of giving them a wash or two to make them darker.

So I'm currently in the stages of prepping Marthrangul for a contest. I'm also painting the Frost Giant Queen as a backup entry. So once I get started of love all the C&C I can get. I have a little less than a month to do him in.

Learning from my previous forays into blending with wings, I decided to try for something more challenging.  In doing this, I learned that sometimes the parts of bigger minis don't fit together as well as one hopes, which in this case resulted in some  improvisation, especially around the foot/base socket and the wings.  But I am enjoying how he came out.  He was wondrously bumpy.  :-)

I had finished the dragon in December last year, but I still had the base to work on. Finally finished this brand new looking clockwork dragon painted with metallic paints and my favorite blue, Nightmare Black this weekend.  I still have another, thinking of doing a rusty/tarnished version sometime.

This one was painted up in a bit of a hurry for a D&D game. I'm pleased with the overall effect (especially the wing colouring), but I'd like to have taken a bit more time to make the scales pop. The wings were airbrushed to get the smooth blending; the rest was done with a hairy stick. Mostly Peacock Green, Brilliant Green and Viper Green, I think. With some yellow mixed in for highlights and a darker olive shade for the darker bits.

The broken tower was made with a sheet of cork - i cut a load of blocks and made the edges a bit ragged, then did a lot of drybrushing and washing. The trailing vines came from a bag of lichen which got some brown wash to make it look slightly less pleasant.

After 6 months of painting 4-10 hours a week on this monster, I am finally finished with Reaper Bones Ma'al Drakar 77580.
