Fi fie fo fum!

Just in time for my "Storm King's Thunder" campaign to be long over, here come the Giants from Stonehaven Miniatures!

The Giant Barbarian.  I believe the intent was as a Hill Giant, but I have a ton of those.  His warpaint is  based on runes from "Storm King's Thunder"5a159172dfaa0_giantsm.thumb.jpg.88f1c1bb2dad3f3e47e8845581ba9745.jpg5a159173d0b9e_giantsn.thumb.jpg.01bbf5aa07f50be93cc502c5945dedf8.jpg

The Cloud Giant:

The Storm Giant.  He's a great design, but he's rather small compared to the other Giants.  It was a debate on what color of Dragon to use for his armor:

The Fire Giant, who was probably my favorite to paint.  She's a nice, simple design but gets the point across.

The Treant:

The only small miniature that I painted so far, but still from the Stonehaven Giants Kickstarter so it counts: The Entling!

So happy to see these painted, especially after waiting to receive them for such a long time! I really like all your paint schemes, especially the cloud giant!

With the Storm Giant, I'm not sure if it's odd that he's so small or if it's just the fact that all the other giants are just as large as he is.  Back in the old D&D days, they started out in size with a Hill Giant and worked their way upward until the Storm Giant was the mac daddy of them all, but in Stonehaven's case, they use a pretty consistent size for most of his giants.   Having said that, I really like the size, makes them a bit easier to paint.

I want to start painting my Stonehaven giants, but I have such a cosmic backload of Grenadier giants, I almost feel I should paint those first!

those giants look wonderful.

Wished I had funds available at the time.

Hill giant, loud giant and sleeping giant are my favs.  fun sculpts, and well painted.

I have painted 3 minis from the stonehaven halfling set.   I should get them back on my short list of painting projects

With the store and other changes, Stonehaven's post-Kickstarter prices had jumped massively.   I was shocked when I looked at picking up some doubles for friends.  I understand the whole "funds available" thing.

I love their Halflings!  The adventurer format was so great...you'd get a whole party plus a whole villages worth of one race.  Great way to build a collection.  I wonder if they'll be able to return to it.

I think they are going to be doing another Kickstarter soon.  Out on Instagram he's been showing a few new minis. Can't wait to see what's next! I saw their prices too go up by a large amount. Kind of put a damper on me buying some hobbitses off their site unfortunately.

Those Owlfolk are pretty amazing.  And I have a mighty need for that Undead Grippli.

While not really themed, all these minis were left over from my other projects.  I think they'll all find a home in "Tesrora, the City That Can't Be Tamed", the fantasy ganglands campaign I'm working on for this year.

Ametrine Earthlyte, Dwarf Alchemist.  A recent Reaper 25th Anniversary miniature.

A rude Dwarf Thug.  I started on him to go with RPE's "Dwarf Veterans Warband" as a thug.

Converted from the Avatars of War Berserkers, Mantic Dwarf Bear-thing riders, and an old Mordheim club.

I realize I couldn't directly post most of the shots of the Orc Matron per forum rules, so linked to my FB shots instead.

      NSFW for mild nudity:

      Her brats:

And a family photo (again NSFW)

A few of the Fair Folk and their followers.

I was inspired to paint them up by a friend's mini-campaign where everyone played as Forest Gnomes.

Thopas, the Lesser Gnome mascot.  This is the second version of him I've painted, for the DM of the before-mentioned game.

"Lord, I was born a Smambling Mound!  Tryin' to kill adventurers with two attacks per round..."

(minis are actually from the Magic the Gathering board game)

A Pixie Messenger from Stonehaven Miniatures recent "Giants" Kickstarter.

An Evil Fairy from Reaper's familiar packs.

Some sprites or such from "Foundry Miniatures" now under their "Warmonger Miniatures" branch.  They used to come as random extras in the Elf packs.

And I saved the best for last.

      Some tasteful gnudes.

I hadn't even realized when I began on these three that they were all from the "Castle Stoneskull" expansion from Bones III.  It was a great set for adding to the random encounters for an RPG.

These guys may represent some of the high-level dangers that one could encounter while dungeoneering in Castle Stoneskull!

The Behir.  I've been wanting one since a buddy pulled one from the first Huge set of D&D prepaints.  They even show up in Pathfinder's "Reign of Winter" and D&D 5E's "Storm King's Thunder", if only I had had this guy in time for those campaigns!

Brain-in-a-Jar.  While I was hoping this would be a human brain, it's still a really cool design.  I wonder why the legs are traditional bendy bones instead of the hard plastic that makes up the rest of the mini (minus the squishy brain), though.

The mighty Minotaur!  Bones has a lot of representations for Minotaurs now, almost as many as Orcs or Goblins.  There's the one from pre-Kickstarter, 2 adventurers in Bones II, and the whole set of Minitaurs coming in Bones IV!  Plus all the Beastmen if you want to count them, I've seen them used as medium Minotaur PCs enough times.

This guy is my favorite, though.  Must be the Gladiator armor.

Who doesn't love Halflings in Mittens?

Wait, that's not the name of the set?  Why not?

Alright, it turns out they're actually "The Winter Adventurers" from a recent Midlam Miniatures Kickstarter.  As always, Midlam delivers nice old-school designs with newer sculpting methods and details.  I think quite highly of the company.

      The Halflings in Mittens:

      Wizards and their apprentices:

      The Dwarfette:

A human scout.  I tried to go with an Inuit look for her.

      Every party has that guy:

Another batch of rotters, fresh off the assembly line!  The forces of the Brothers of Rust get more...rank!  (Badum tish)

      Converted Biologus Putrifiers:

Also converted, a set of Foul Blightspawn:

      Icon Bearers:

      Blight Launchers:
