Are you prepared for Monday's holiday, if you celebrate in some fashion?

Yep.

Although what we do here just about qualifies as celebrating so it's pretty easy to get everything ready.

Advance dinner prep is done for the annual big homemade Chinese food feast for friends and family.

Nom!

We are as ready as we can be.  Tree is up, presents are present.  Cards have been taking a hit from the cats, though.  Snow has snowed. Ham is in the fridge with sufficient accompaniments. The cranberry fruit salad may have to wait until New Year's because of lack of fridge space.  We are out of milk and bread, DH didn't make the run yesterday and now he has to clean snow off the car if he wants tea before Tuesday, and that's kind of iffy.  But we have hot cocoa and cider to warm us up.  I have exchanged emails with as many family members as care to communicate, and will continue to share good wishes with friends through the week.

Yes.

Presents wrapped. Groceries obtained. Roaring fire burning. Don't need to leave the house until after tomorrow. We're stoked.

Amazingly, we had all gifts bought by December and all were wrapped by the end of the first week. We are now relaxing at the in-laws and getting ready to celebrate Mrs. Gargs' birthday today. My only fail was in not getting the Super Secret Christmas project done but that was due to my shoulder/back which has been suffering spasms for the last several weeks. It's actually feeling pretty good now though.

Nope, nope, and nope. Just got back from vacation yesterday so haven't had time to do much.

Yup.

  • Everything is wrapped and under the tree.
  • Turkey is nearly completely thawed in the cold room and ready for the oven tomorrow morning.
  • Vacuum cleaner and dusting is done.

We're just missing setting up the table, and finishing the side dishes before the guests arrives (i.e. my sister, niece, nephews, etc.). Then the tornado of flying paper wrappings will begin.

... more or less.

Tree is up (cats are snoozing under it, intermittently), greenery and lights are up on doors and fences - and bells, of /course/ - presents are wrapped, food has been acquired, Mr. Thorne made linzer torte for dessert tomorrow, I made truffles, I have bread rolls in progress - well, bread, anyway. The other half will go into rolls tomorrow - and all the rest of the snax and goodies are in the works (many, many eggs have been boiled for deviled eggs and egg salad). There's a five pound.. ish .. standing rib in the 'fridge, ready to be seasoned and panned, sufficient veg to steam/roast, lots of potatoes for roasted 'toes and I fully expect our food-trackers to freak out by end of day tomorrow. And, somewhere, I have a bottle of mead stashed, and there's even a little bit of egg nog to pour rum into.

Also, oatmeal supplies have been assured; plenty of cream and oats. The Thorne Homestead is ready for this.. and it is, in fact, snowing. Enthusiastically. So... for the first time in my conscious memory, I may actually get to have snow on Yule! That's never happened to me before. ^^;

Do you like roller coasters? If so: which types, and which is your favorite? If no: why not?

Oh yeah. I like the wooden rickety ones but truly love the newfangled steel ones like Superman: Ride of Death.

yup tree trimmed, gifts wrapped, wifey is putting elder spawn to bed.  Mini-spawn packed it in right after dinner.  Worn out from sledding. :)

gifts and stocking stuff is staged and ready to go.

Family recipe cinnamon rolls are rising overnight.  Per my grandmother it's breakfast before gifts.
