Eberron Game! No Auld Grumpies Allowed!

Recommended Posts

Wow, that was easy - I needed a way for the players to hide from the floating thing.

And remembered Hey, they made friends with a phase spider a few weeks ago!

Easy Peasy! CLICK! and done!

But first they get to see the airship that they were expecting to come back in a day to pick them up get shot out of the sky.

I decided at the beginning that every time they need to travel Something Will Happen.

So far, so so good!

Then they will have to decide whether to keep after what they were sent to find out, go rescue the people in the downed airship, or (dramatic pause) SPLIT THE PARTY! ::D:

Grump is gonna want to split the party, and HATE himself for doing so. What more can a wife ask for? ::P:

I was expecting to sit in front of the screen spinning my wheels, instead it was a simple Copy and Paste!

I'm psychic!

I not only predicted who would decide to split the party, but how they would split it!

And both groups accomplished their missions, leaving them saddled with four still wounded crew. They need to be careful around the phase spider. If they are too injured then her instincts might kick in, and it will be dinner time.

The only thing I didn't predict was Grump grabbing the memory tapes and soul gems from the aberrant warforged. I forgot that we are using gearforged, which have those things.

Later, I will allow them to use investigation skills to find out more. I just need to make it up first! I can USE this.

Jon is really looking forward to his bloodrager learning to fly.

Do I let them rescue the first team's people, the ones that MAY be still alive, or do I tell them they're too late?

Or do I give them clues that MAY lead them to rescuing the team later?

I am leaning toward that last. The party is already chewed up, letting them go into the Shadow Plane would be murder, right now.

I need a T Rex for Xen'drik. :B):

How are the miniatures from Heroforge with the new materials?

I have designed a warforged GENTLEMAN ADVENTURER for Grump's character, and want to get it for his birthday next month.

But the ones he got me a few years ago were not all that good. Great poses, and I love them to pieces, but fragile, and that was how they wound up in pieces.

And not smooth, though Grump found a way to get around that, so they were green for a while before he painted them. I don't know what he did.

Are they better now?

From what I've seen, their current highest quality is both less grainy and less fragile than it used to be, but I've only seen them, never really worked with them.

More Weresharks can only be a good thing.   Have a large air elemental nearby as well.  5XP to the first person to mention Sharknado then kill them.

Also, Grump is playing Othar Tryggvassen?

Yup!

Only mechanical, and dressed like a robot pimp!

With a monocle!

IF the characters survive next week then they will be heading for Xen'drik.

Kind of iffy, I really wish the party would hole up and heal up before pushing on.

But they listened when I mentioned the damaged warforged were ALSO looking, so they have been staggering along. Two are poisoned right now, and one is also diseased.

And Grump wants NOTHING to do with the rust monster. As soon as he shoots, it will know they are there.

And it hasn't occurred to them yet that if someone is using rust monsters to guard the facility in the Shadow Plane then that someone is NOT the damaged warforged.

I dreamed again, and now I know the location of the last scene in the campaign, and the last handout.

Cyre is only the beginning

Going to have the players pop into the ruins of Metrol, find each clue, which leads somewhere else, that has a clue that leads back to Metrol.

That last clue is in the palace itself, but nothing about what it means.

I have divided to raid our library for film noir, and maybe rent Atomic Blonde again.

This thread has inspired me to do my own homebrew combined with an old gurps game (some of the lore is included in the infinite dimensions 3d print stuff) Cyre is only the beginning for me too but later in timeline and related to corrupted goblinoids and worse. Will catch up now.

Whoever came up with that is my new hero.  I demand pictures of the mini.

I can't get into my own Flickr account, but I know Grumpy's password. ::):

I messed up my password somehow, and I may need to create a new account, last time this happened Grump figured it out, so I still have hope.

It took him five minutes, so I need to subtract the image from his Flickr, now that it's on mine.

I gave him a choice, figure out my password or not visit his own account until after Birthday.

His words "I thought we were skipping my birthday this year to focus on Brigid's"

As IF! ::wow:

Waffled for a while, then ordered the miniature. I hope I have better luck than Grump did.

Grump has had a miniature for me on back order for THREE MONTHS! But someday I am getting a beholder, and I have plans, oh yesssss... :;,;:

I found out about it while we were camping. He gave me some very nice chocolates and then apologized because the miniature that was SUPPOSED to be with the chocolates had still not come in.

They still have a few levels to go, so I am not worried.

This Friday is the first trip to Xen'drik. There will be dinosaurs, and a crashed airship.

They found papers in the ruins of Metrol about the salvaging of a Creation Forge made long, long before the warforged were supposedly invented. I may give the players tinfoil hats, because they are delving into conspiracy theory territory.

Which will lead to a dungeon crawl, because I really want to try running a dungeon crawl!

I am going to redo the picture when I get the miniature in hand and painted.

I've gotten attached to that figure. ::):

Working up the skeleton of the adventure I'm gonna run on Wednesday, using Frosty the Lich as the big bad at the end.
      It's gonna be goofy!

He's killed some townsfolk "thumpity thump thump" and stolen the children and turned them into snow zombies (that look like snowmen).
It's a concentration spell, so if they can break his concentration they can free the kids. If they kill a few along the way...
      Well...

Before that though, there's the woods with Sam the Snowman (also evil, using the gladiator stat block) a treant (christmas tree), and some winter wolves.

There's also the "evil wizard" Hinkle's tower, but he's a pushover and a false lead, though they can get some info from him.

There's the greenhouse that's over run with mistletoe and poinsettia plants  (thorn and twig blights with poison/charm powers) and a pair of shambling mounds (piles of garland)...

Still trying to figure out how to work in Jack Frost and Heat Miser as a non-combat encounter...

Hi everyone, here is the wolf model from Ral Partha's TSR D&D 10-512 Monsters Boxed Set produced in 1992.
I painted this one a while ago. It's a 25mm scale metal "lead" miniature that was sculpted by Richard Kerr.

      https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/350683997/tales-of-the-old-margreve-5th-edition-forest-adven/description

Forests in fantasy roleplaying games are dark places, full of secrets. With this project, we bring the Old Margreve to the 5th Edition of the world's most popular RPG. The Margreve is an ancient, enchanted forest that defends itself from those who come to cut its timber, poach its creatures, or steal its magic. Within its borders the Old Ways are strong, the word of the druids carries great weight, and griffons, dragons, and stranger creatures nest and hunt, undisturbed by humans, dwarves, or other lordlings.
Until your adventuring party shows up. Then things get really interesting.
The Margreve Kickstarter offers three main elements:
      1) the Tales of the Old Margreve adventure campaign hardcover for the GM, with adventures from levels 1 to 10
      2) a Margreve Player's Guide softcover book of new player options, including new races, druid and ranger subclasses and tools, backgrounds, and forest-themed spells.
      3) (if unlocked) a set of thick cardboard standups, the Margreve Pawns, which are similar to those created for Tome of Beastsand the Creature Codex. Here is a small sample of what that would look like; we anticipate producing 150 to 200 pawns (depending on stretch goals).
Together with some book-expanding stretch goals, this project provides new deep-forest character options and a full sequence of adventures to draw adventurers into the wilderness and keep them on their toes.

      WHY KICKSTART THIS?
Initially we debated this as a softcover adventure collection, but we soon realized that it was large enough and compelling enough to make into a hardcover volume playable in 5th Edition fantasy campaigns, together with a player supplement. Why not go big?
Kobold Press is doing something a little different with its digital offerings this time. We're putting our effort into the two print books, and possibly a custom set of pawns—and digitally, full sets of virtual tabletop (VTT) files. That means that we'll have the Old Margreve adventures and source material available on Roll20 and on Fantasy Grounds shortly after the hardcover and softcover volumes ship.
With terrific map management, full suites of digital tokens, pre-set monster stats, and more, virtual tabletops make it easier than ever to just sit down and play. The VTT packages for the Old Margreve will be extensive and include everything provided in the print edition—plus the flexibility and speed of online play. We're partnering directly with Roll20 and Fantasy Gournds, two of the leading VTT companies, to make these digital versions complete and powerful.

      Contributors
The designers on this project include lead designer Matt Corley plus contributing designers Dan Dillon, Jon Sawatsky, James Introcaso, and Wolfgang Baur.
They build on earlier Margreve work by Richard Pett, Ben McFarland, Tim & Eileen Connors, Dan Voyce, Michael Furlanetto, Wolfgang Baur, and others.
Shipping costs from the US to anywhere outside North America have risen sharply in recent years, so we are once again partnering with groups in Canada, in the EU, and likely in Australia (depending on the volume of backers there), and if so then Kobold Press will pay customs and import duties for those packages.
Our best guess for those Canada-friendly and EU-friendly costs right now are roughly $22 shipping for Canada and roughly $30-and-a-bit for shipping to the EU. We do not have an Australia estimate yet.
To calculate shipping to your location from the US, you can use the US Postal Service calculator and assume a Medium size flat rate box:  https://postcalc.usps.com/

More miniatures printed for my ongoing "Tomb of Annihilation" game.  All were printed on my Ender-3.

First, the Z-Rex, a file I nabbed off Thingiverse.

The eternal and ever-smelly Champion, Dragonbait!  File designed by the talented DM Workshop, Miguel Zavala.

I did have to replace his sword hand with an Empire bit.

Eretria, the party's Half-Elf Assassin.  Another design by Miguel Zavala, with a sword swap (still haven't gotten the settings dialed in for smaller weapons)

Last, the party's Forest Gnome Arcane Trickster, Onyx Timbers.  She ritually shaves her head (and eyebrows) every morning after a night time encounter with Hags.  This one was designed using DesktopHero3D...I didn't think I was finding any bald Gnome Rogues any time soon.
