Lol - I think the Book Barn might be a bit far to travel for a date... It's in CT.

Road trip!

.... Oh wait, not everyone finds those romantic and enjoyable. :p

Love it, hate it, or indifferent; how do you feel about Valentine's Day?

Valentine's? Today is Singles Awareness Day.

What he said.  Our relationship is not limited to one day of romance and gift giving and I dislike how commercial holidays are in general.

I will hit up the drugstore tomorrow and see if they have a couple bags of the snack/bite sized candy bars, as they are good for packing in lunches.

Sounds like the perfect date.  I may suggest that to DH.  :)

Designated Husband?

We acknowledge it occurs, but we don't do much for it.

We have a lot of dates and romantic gestures year round.

However, I did get a special Valentine serenade at work...

(if the video works for yall...)

As long as it’s not taken too seriously, it’s a fun excuse to go out and celebrate together.

of course, we celebrated on the 11th this year, but close enough. :B):

Shhh. We don't say the H word here. It's "figmentia", or, in this case, "bibliomentia".

There, I made up a new word to describe some of us ^_^

I like that word. I think I’m keeping it. :;):

What is your most wonderful, best failure to date?  (i.e., a failure that made you learn and grow more than success would ever have done)

Been thinking about this for awhile. I'm not sure there was what I'd call a successful failure. Cause I'm so damn perfect, you know. I've had my shares of failures with the big ones being out of my control and seeing them coming like a slow mo train wreck. It's a terrible thing to know exactly how something bad is going to go down and not be able to convince the person that could do something about it to get ready. The small ones were often learning experiences but not life changing. I suppose they main thing they've all taught me is to not be so worried about messing up. Don't be paralysed by fear of making a mistake. If it happens get back up and correct the mistake as best you can. Some days/years this feels like a never ending cycle.

I'm pretty ambiguous about most holidays. My wife on the other hand loves to celebrate everything even in a small way. Making her happy makes me happy. When we can we try to sneak off alone for the night for a romantic supper and entertainment. Being married with small kids makes that tricky at times. We've got a romantic supper with 3 kids and MIL planned for tonight.

We always exchange gifts, but it is not limited to that day...

I like to give her small presents/flowers etc every now and then.

There's nothing more beautiful than to be serenaded among endless rows of miniatures.

For various reasons, today seems darker than usual.

Can you post something that shows that Beauty, Love, and Joy still exist? Can we make each other smile and laugh today?

I have been told that my Mushrooms have a cheering effect on folks so here are a few:

I have also been told they cause nightmares; SO this might not be all that good an idea.

Well, they say that Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder, so here is a group of them!

Edit:  And they are Tony DiTerlizzi Beholders, which make me happy.  Obviously, image is copyright Wizards of the Coast.
