Enigma Oz-Zuh, Moon Face Inspired DIMS Variation: DONE!

Recommended Posts

I have been waiting somewhat patiently for C.M.o.N. to restock Enigma's Oz-Zuh, Moon Face for several months. Today I thought I'd try my hand at making a mini similar to Oz.
This is Enigma's version...I would love to have mine paint up this nicely:

Spoiler

e-30-21.jpg.849bc4e4f2f8eaccde4e389abdc66c13.jpg

This morning I did up a dolly:

DSCN5997.thumb.JPG.0b39d578af068e239e905007c48d3402.JPG

He looks like Howard the Duck at this stage:

DSCN5999.thumb.JPG.0014d19e528677452fc3252f2019df45.JPGDSCN6000.thumb.JPG.cd59b51d3fe723f2bcc81b927937e030.JPG

Some green stuff work on his face, the ruff collar, & a hooded cape:

DSCN6001.thumb.JPG.bda49b6a08158e1110c01025a21b9843.JPGDSCN6002.thumb.JPG.53168da53363d678082cc850209d7a26.JPGDSCN6003.thumb.JPG.5f4610124b125b9121c6fb7a518f72a6.JPGDSCN6005.thumb.JPG.ab5c3e025ac631729533fc24d47b6198.JPG

Now the Moon Faced Lad is one sleeve away from basic completion with only some embellishment that I may later regret to do:

DSCN6006.thumb.JPG.ba449107b130d312c726650f0953d6ec.JPGDSCN6007.thumb.JPG.87f7e4baec815c3e73402f2054c8ff2e.JPGDSCN6008.thumb.JPG.607789887810898e9a8a38db1583e80c.JPGDSCN6009.thumb.JPG.cf0ebb1ca8134531d111d628885a8045.JPG

The green stuff should be dry by seven or so; SO I may have him done today...or not.

Since I will be basing & painting him, I thought the W.I.P. section was more appropriate than the Sculpting.

...oh I do hope it's dripping with hot, melted butter.

Thanks for the kind reply, Jay. I did up the other sleeve & freshen the ruffle in front. More photos tomorrow.

He is going to be a menace to the population of your world, he looks like he is up to no good!

He does look menacing with a touch of lecherous. I am glad you like him, Glitter. Thanks for the reply.

AND the threatened photos:

The sculpt is done barring some embellishments. Next comes the basing; then some paint.

Awesome work! It’s really great to see your process for making your wonderful characters!

I have to admit, when the first pictures loaded up, I hadn’t read your initial explanation of what you were sculpting, so my initial thought was “Why is malefactus making a duck klansman? “ I was relieved to see that it was just the initial sculpt and he no longer looked anything like that once you’d added more detail.

Even knowing what I was trying for, the dolly looked like Howard The Duck. A Duck might work, but it wasn't what I was trying for.

I am glad you like him. Thanks for the kind reply, Guindyloo. This is where he stands right now: white over black prime:

I am deciding on the base & whether or not he will be alone or have a companion.

That's what I am leaning towards also...something Goblin-like. What is a Platypod?

That was very kind of you to say, but I think I have quite a ways to go to equal the quality of a professional sculptor.

My stuff is, however, fun, & suits my World perfectly. I am delighted you like it, Thanks for the reply, Inarah.

Yesterday was an up sort of day & consequently I forgot to do a few things....like update this thread.

SO I started a possible base for Master Moon Face:

DSCN6020.thumb.JPG.e68e69725f0edf26b89809dff05be343.JPGDSCN6021.thumb.JPG.e6f05026155f44879e2c3721c8d41f4c.JPG

...did the bark up in DAS Air Dry Clay:

DSCN6022.thumb.JPG.bae0ee7411d11536e5cce0e9cde87c5e.JPGDSCN6023.thumb.JPG.5597c32d222fc2880a24fc62ea596f82.JPGDSCN6024.thumb.JPG.6d1c7f9cab5dcb127d706ba81994cb74.JPG

The groundwork was done last night & the beasty got primed today:

DSCN6025.thumb.JPG.0d75738ddd0ecaf5edba4571e044cd1e.JPGDSCN6026.thumb.JPG.68b98a1ca9dc3be716d6bb63bc3e5ce5.JPGDSCN6027.thumb.JPG.99ea5dc8a49a592772ccd562856d1b89.JPG

The base will get some further detailing & then some paint. If I use this one for Master Moon Face, it has plenty of room for a funky or two.

I found a wonderfully bizarre illustration of an armored Rhino by James Christensen. It is just my kind of Beasty:

AND I just happened to have a toy Rhino grazing in The Vault:

SO I started working on making my own version of the illustration:

At this point the green stuff work is done with the exception of some touch ups & embellishments:

The Rhino in his prime...so to speak:

I thought I would be more motivated to finish painting the Big Guy if I post here as well as in The Last Hurrah Thread...I have a lot of strange thoughts.
Today I started adding some colors to the base. Photos are likely...sometime or other.

A few days ago I started a new type of Mushroom based on some Pinterest polymer clay pieces like this one:

This one & his kin are quite a bit larger than the ones I make, but the detail is something to aspire to.
Here is a step by step of my Mushroom in progress up to yesterday. This is the plumber's epoxy dolly:

      The Kneadotite (green stuff):

I use the left over green stuff to make smaller versions of the Big Mushroom...you probably already notice that:

There will be more of this type in varying sizes AND their bases coming along soon...or eventually.

I have been wandering through the wonderfully inspiring photos on Pinterest. The Mushroom pictured there have created a need to make some new Faerie Folk Mushrooms of my own.
I put up pic on my Last Hurrah Thread, but since this may be a protracted effort, I thought I would post here as well. These are a few of the ones I am doing versions of:

The first stage dollies were made on Wednesday:

Green stuffing & additional dollies on Thursday.

Friday was lost to H&R Block, AND yesterday was a daze. Today my enthusiasm clicked into high gear.
The result was the Two Tall Mushroom got their green stuff done, along with some work on the supporting cast:

Since these pics were taken, I have done a base coating of black on the Tall Fellows, & finished the green stuffing on the medium sized mushrooms.
Have I mentioned that I have a tendency to get carried away?

SO I have been hoping to get Enigma's Oz-zuh moon Face; AND I have been waiting almost patiently for a restock of Enigma at C.M.o.N..
Realizing that I just might not live long enough to see that happen I decided to make my own version of the Guy. This is what theirs looks
      like:

      This is my version:

      Oz in the Spooky Woods:

I still would like to do Enigma's, but I am pleased with my own attempt...it might be a lack of taste issue.

SO it started with a post on DM's Craft. My friend, tauster, was making The Mother of Monsters. He was using Marjory The Trash Heap of Fraggle Rock fame as his inspiration.
I wasn't all that familiar with Marjory, although I loved what episodes of Fraggle Rock I got to see, but  I HAD to do my own version of The Girl:

I got further inspiration from our own alchemist's post:

Magrat The All Seeing Trash Heap aka The Divine Miss Mags is a combination of the two inspiration pieces with a healthy dose of my own dubious imaginations.
SO without further delay, here is Mags:

      The Door To Wherever:

      There you go.
For those interested in size, Mags is a bit over 7" high & is resting on a base about 9" in diameter.
