Any elf catapults available anywhere?

Grump looked at it and said it wouldn't be able to fire.

The weight would hit the ground, and would need to swing free to work.

Pretty sure he's BUILT trebuchet, half the group is in the SCA.

Same problem as the GW Brettonian trebuchet.

But the GW Lord of the Rings trebuchet is just fine. ::):

I have worked on three trebuchet - two for the SCA, one for Pumpkin Chucking. (We did not win. ::P: Someone else brought in a real brute of a trebuchet - maybe fifteen feet tall to our eight.)

The Auld Gump - four if you count the one built at school. *EDIT* As part of an art project... Still graces the lawn at SMCC, as far as I know.

*EDIT 2*

*EDIT 3* You may not think it, but those wheels serve a purpose beyond being able to move the trebuchet - when it fires it rolls back and forth, in counterpoint to the counterweight - which means a whole lot less stress is being transferred to the frame.

Warmonger Miniatures (fantasy line from Wargames Foundry) has something similar to the Orc Man-Mangler in the goblin range, if you are so interested...

Damon

Thanks again!

I don't WANT that for my goblin army, I NEED that!

If I were running Grumps kids game, this catapult would TALK!

Looking at that face, I am thinking it would tell REALLY dumb jokes!

All the Warmonger figures are nice.

They have PERSONALITY!

But their elves... Are both slutty and EVIL!

Not Dark Elf evil, more Regency evil. With boobs.

I haven't looked those up yet but after seeing your post I think I better soon.

I have some of the Warmonger/Foundry miniatures - they do have personality.

And, yeah - the old GW miniatures had a lot more personality than the newer minis do - there is a reason why people liked them. (I do not much like their current style - but very much liked their style from back in the eighties.)

I think I know the figures that she is talking about - be warned, gratuitous boobery! (Sculpted by Copplestone, way back when.) *EDIT* Yep - the Revenant Elves - I would say more Renaissance than Regency, but there is definitely a bad romance vibe going on.

There are also cherubs in the sets.

Chubby naked boys never did anything for me but slutty elves might. ::P: I learned about GW somewhere around 86 or 87 and most of my GW collection is from before 2000. The newest GW thing I bought was the Battle for Skull Pass box and that was because the wife wanted the dwarves. We also grabbed a bunch of older dwarf stuff at that time. I'm not a fan of the new GW minis for the most part. They are technically impressive but the aesthetics aren't what I like. Too many details and overwrought/overthought.  Like simpler, not so cluttered minis better.

I'm looking for elf artillery but this is just too cool.

Could definitely find a place in the goblin army for that. A bit pricey but maybe someday.

A few old GW sculpts made it to the Foundry range as a matter of fact.

Those Elves? I always found them to be more like Vampires.

Evil, Sexy, Vampires..

Now I mention it...I need a few of those..

As for Oldschool  check out Knightmare Miniatures they have both a Greenskin and a Pantheon of Chaos range in the style of the older Citadel minis.

I found them to be a great alternative for those.

Yea, it's not elevated enough. The center point needs to be about twice as high, if not more, to allow for the counterweight to swing properly. They could probably convert it to a traction trebuchet and have it function, though. But that would mean it wouldn't have anywhere near a comparable range or shot size. Counterweight trebuchets are truly a wonderful thing to behold.

I've been wanting to build one for a while for use on the SCA battlefield at Pennsic. My problem is that I drive a small car that can't haul a trailer, and all my friends that are capable of hauling trailers have full ones. So we have nowhere to pack a disassembled siege engine...

Roof rack?

More like trailer.

Q has one for Pennsic.

Even that one uses wood about twenty feet long, and it is only a bit over six feet, I think.

My car can't technically support a roof rack. The official roof load limit is 0, as is the official towing capacity. It's the real downside to buying a compact car. If I could afford an SUV, I'd have one. My actual plan, prior to wrecking my car and having to get a new car payment, was to find a beat up old cargo van and use it for my SCA vehicle because it's got the advantages of a pickup truck and a trailer all in one vehicle - cargo capacity and fully covered cargo area.

I'd have also airbrushed the hell out of it. Can you say Space-Dragon-Wizard-Explosion?

I think my car would class as a 'mini van' in the USA?

Google for Citroën Berlingo.

I get around 40mpg, seats 5 comfortably, have headroom, large boot... and I may actually do a boot-camp conversion this year...

Did I mention the fabric sun-roof that covers almost the entire roof?

I'm tempted to try airbrushing it...

(Just lines and maybe filling in a couple of areas. )

Yea, that's pretty much a minivan. Actually, it's pretty much what I wanted to get. But about the closest I can get to that is a Ford Transit Connect, which gets 27mpg at best. But I'd want one that's got the full panel van look, without the rear passenger windows. Get one without rear seats, build some shelving into the back, and then I've got a perfect camping/SCA vehicle.

But back to the topic at hand, sort of, I want that Warmonger goblin/orc catapult, but holy crap I can't afford that. 56 GBP for the catapult and crew, or about $80 not counting shipping, is too much for my blood. It does look absolutely bonkers amazing, though.
