Although the end result is not what I was hoping for, I learned a lot doing this project that will be very helpful for some future projects I have planned.  Her WIP thread is here:  Selmarina WIP

This year is the year of giving miniatures as birthday gifts to the friends I game with. One of these fine fellows--my oldest and dearest friend--has a birthday in a couple weeks. He loves magic-users and is obsessed with Harry Potter, so I painted up a 25th anniversary Domur as a classic "Gandalf the Grey" style wizard for his present:

Tried to layer the flames to give some interesting and pleasing texture. Let me know how I did.

Also, given his love for all things Potter, I did my best to modify Domur's spellbook to a more familiar book cover...

I'm actually surprised I could keep the brush steady enough for it to come across at all similar, to be honest.

Not specific to any particular campaign or RPG - just a place for folks to share adventure seeds for urban fantasy campaigns, since it came up on another thread.

[Dark] The players are hired by a necromancer to learn who murdered one of his corpses. She was engaged to be wed the day before he purchased her remains, and is not happy about being dead....

[Humorous] The Goblin bard and his band has cast Irresistible dance, and to the players' horror... it is a polka.

Shipwrecked is an exciting new game based on an original concept by Matt Kirby, the designer of the the worldwide hit family game Apples to Apples®. Shipwrecked is a fast, fun game of bidding, bananas, monkeys and mayhem.
Our extraordinary team of experienced designers, artists and illustrators have created an auction and set-collection game with a compelling theme, tight design, and top-tier art and components.
To ensure that we can produce a quality game that will reach you before the holidays, we’re working closely with a U.S. based printer: DeLano Services. We’ll be shipping cartons direct from the manufacturer to fulfillment centers in North America and Europe.

      Welcome to
Your once proud ship is now a wreck on the shore of an uncharted island. And you are not alone: Battered and broken vessels litter the rocky shore. You and other survivors are all desperate to repair your ships and return to your homes.
Unfortunately, all the ships have been stripped of parts by a gang of motley monkeys, led by the wily Captain Coconuts. He’ll give you what you need - for a price! You’ll have to out-bid (and outsmart) the other castaways in the Captain’s auctions. Win what you need to rebuild your ship and you’ll sail away to victory!

Painted up this Mountain Troll up over the weekend.  I decided to go with an Ice Troll look, and I think it turned out pretty nice.  I normally paint my main colors and then use a heavy wash to bring out the details, but this time I tried something different for his skin.  I used a light gray base coat over all of the skin areas, then dry brushed two layers of blue on the back/arms, and some bone color on the stomach and chest.  I really like how it turned out, but it made touch ups from the armor pretty tricky.  I also noticed some pretty bad mold lines after I took the pictures, so I need to be more careful before I start painting to those up.  Overall, I really enjoyed painting this fig and look forward to unleashing him on a party of adventurers!  Critiques and advice are always welcome!  Thanks in advance!
