If so, I hope they're dragon style dragons, instead of the wyverns of the show. Could go either way, since DS's previous GRRM stuff predates the show.

Perhaps a new set of 'core characters' based off the show? Having a Radghast the Brown didn't stop GW from making a new version when the Hobby movies came out.

GRRM signs off on all the sculpts, so the style of dragon will be what he envisioned.  Whether or not that matches the HBO version...

Aside from creatures (I don't remember any children of the forest or giants in the line either), another possible opening for new sculpts is for characters that lived long enough to have changed appearance.  Some people lost body parts, but some children simply grew up.

I am pretty certain that GRRM sees dragons AS the ones on the HBO show.  So no front legs and "wyvern" like.

We need giants and dragons and walkers and their bosses!

This so made me think of a dragon in an AT-ST from star wars... Not quite certain why brain went there..

Also, this is not going to be a Kick Starter.  So not sure the discussion belongs here?

Huh. You are indeed correct. From their facebook: "We will be releasing this new batch of GRRM Masterworks releases via the site instead of via Kickstarter. It will be a large bundle of miniatures at an incredible deal."

Interesting.  I guess they changed their mind?  It makes sense, they'll probably get just as many people, and they don't have to pay Kickstarter it's cut.  I wonder how many other companies are likely to follow suit?

Northstar games already does the same thing with their "Nick-starters" for Frostgrave.  Seems to work for them.

Curious. That was definitely a Kickstarter logo on the photo in the OP.

... Also, does it say anywhere that these are Tom Meier figures? The detail on the example looks like his level of detail, but its style is not very obviously his, to my semitrained eye.

Looking at their Facebook page it appears that for whatever reason, Darksword has changed their mind about using kickstarter for this release.

Pretty late in the mini to start a WIP but I could use some thoughts and suggestions, in particular in the area of contrast.  I am looking to bring up the contrast on the scales but I don't want to shift to an orange or pink.  The skin shows a decent contrast but to my eye it's more orange than red at this point.  I love the different shading going on for each scale type but I want more from the upper body scales without going into orange and yellow.

My challenge to myself this year is to gel my reds to be red.  It's not an easy color to work with and a lot of these paints are either transparent or chalk when thinned.  It has been a long road to get this far but I want a richer color.

Thoughts would be welcomed along with critique.  Pictures were snapped off my work bench but I will shoot for better ones this weekend.  In the meantime...

the photos are raw and taken without flash to try and show the pieces in the most natural light

The body.  Trying for three textures plus the crest.  The heavy armored back scales are under layered with corpreal shadow to make them stand out, then shaded from a dark purple red to blood red.  The body scales are undershaded with brick red and shaded up to a highlight of Phoenix red.  The body skin on the arms starts at Gore red and shaded up to a lantern yellow.  Problem is with the body.  I would like more highlight but whatever I try changes the tone to either orange or pink.

The head: still a work in progress.  Needing to clean up the horns and again highlight without going to the orange or pink

Upper side of wing.  Looking pretty good although a set of missed mold lines is making me repaint the horns

Wing underside.  Subdued and darker as this part is solidly cast in shadow and the horns are in the process of being repainted... again

So thanks again for anyone who would like to help out.

Some neat looking alien terrain.  I like the idea of curved walls as it should make handling miniatures easier.  Looks like this creator has delivered a resin project before (a dice tower).

*edit* Not sure why images aren't working, I'll try again later.

Also some cool stuff in the stretch goals.

Well..let keep it busy, so starting a new minis / scenery with this cute frog and it bumblebee :)
Just to change from the big muscle fighter guys or the green guy haha ( well frog skin may tend to be greenish though...)

So very first beginning..as I do usually zenithal prime on the figure..and blocked out my base shape ( this one I am going to use the water texture from Vallejo, thus the hole made in the base )
