Crowley's Deladrin, Autumnal Ranger

Recommended Posts

Lately I've been thinking I want to wrap up the Bones 1 core set. This assassin, which looked more ranger-ish to me, was near the top of the pile, and ready to go, so out she came. I glued her to a base, and then onto one of my cork holders. She was already brown lined, so I started with Muddy Olive for the cloak, and Warrior Flesh for the face. Worked a bit on the eyes with Viper Green, and then decided that the scarf was going to be in the color of autumnal leaves, so she'd be a little more interesting than just muted browns and greens.

And this was where I left off after the first evening.

And catching up with that I actually did last night...

Same colors as before, just bringing them up in intensity.

This is one of my favourite minis and one of the first I bought from Reaper. I like seeing different takes on how to paint her. Because of Bones Ss I now have 3 of her but only 1 painted. She's looking good so far.

I've sort of been poking at her... Mostly just hitting the leather armor with various browns, and painting the studs with dragon bronze. Tonight I added gravel to the base.

Hua, apparently I didn't come back to fill in what I'd done here!

Painted up the base with a blend of Mountain Stone, and a muddy mix of browns.

With some yellow and brighter reds to try to look like fallen leaves.

I've since cleaned up the edge of the base, but that's it. She's done!

In response to a local club challenge, I painted this dwarf in 3 colors chosen by a computer program.

Hi all, I'm not sure if this has ever been discussed, but does anyone know if Reaper has ever discussed/considered making the Bones ground sculpts that support the miniature the perfect circumference to be flush for 1" or 2" or 3" for RPG bases? Even for just the smaller miniatures that would fit 1" or 2" bases and not the large-sized ones?

It seems like there would be a big portion of the market that would love a miniature you don't have to do special basing for besides supergluing it to a base considering how great some of the sculpted ground looks already. Basing miniatures by removing the nice ground sculpts from Reaper or trying to figure out how to obscure/blend in the sculpted ground is one of my biggest pet peeves about this hobby and I feel like there must be others who feel the same.

I picked this up to paint for my girlfriend as Lon reminds me of her dog Erebus. He was fun to paint, although looking at the photo I can see a lot of flash I missed. As Erebus is female I probably should have done Lon's trousers in pink or the same teal shade as Erebus's collar and leash.

Went a bit crazy and felt the call of the mini. Painted this in a single afternoon. Starting to get a hang on wet blending.

My girlfriend's been fascinated by Antarctic exploration for a few months so when I saw that Reaper make an Antarctic Explorer figure, I had to get it and paint it for her. Here he is photographed in front of a porcelain iceberg she picked up at an art exhibit. She was really happy that I'd painted it for her but it took her about 30 seconds to say, "Isn't that the main guy from that Thing movie??"...
