Hey all,

First time posting.  I was wondering what minis you all use for ancient dragons.  I was looking at the Pathfinder deep ancient red dragon and it's never less than 500 on eBay.  So I figured I'd check out unpainted ones from reaper.  Which dragon do you think would work as an ancient red dragon in size?

Thanks

Well, it depends on how big you want them to be.  Gargantuan size (which is all Ancient Dragons in 5E, not sure about PF off the top of my head) is 20ftx20ft or greater.  if using standard map tiles or battle mats that's a 4" by 4" base.  So any of the larger size dragons that Reaper puts out would work.  I'm partial to Marganthal myself.

A Gargantuan creature would mount on a 4"x4" square base, which would also be 100mm.

A Colossal creature would mount on a 6"x6" square base, which would be 150mm.

I thought Reaper sold super large bases like this, but not seeing them on the web store.

But, but.....  Now I'll have to go up to six on my random dragon thread because OH MY GODS THE WANT FOR THAT DRAGON!!!!

... Or I could just, y'know, paint him however I want too, that works.

Thanks for all your responses, @Twalrus where do you see the triangles?  I feel like I'm missing something.

Here's a link to a regular sized figure with the triangles on the side of the picture http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/Warlord/price/77223

they're there on the sides of the dragons pictures but are tiny and can just look like specks on your screen if you're not used to looking for them.

This is amazing, I've since seen a post with a size comparison to some dragon minis I that have so I went and picked up Marthrangul and Narthrax.  I will most likely also pick up T'Raukzul when it is released.  I may wait and not paint  either of these red though just in case.  I'm making my PCs fight an Ancient Red dragon and I think this would be the perfect size but the encounter won't show up for months so hopefully I have enough time.  Thanks again for all your help everyone!!!

My favorite has always been Marthrangul for giant evil dragon (could be why I have 2 metal ones painted)  the form is powerful and serpentine.  T'raukzul is big but very godzilla like  and I only have one of those in metal... painted.  Marthrangul just seemed more dragon like.
