Rogues and Vagabonds- A Burrows and Badgers kickstarter by Oathsworn miniatures

Recommended Posts

I'm in.  It's one of the few companies that I love to see grow and  I really want to keep Mike sculpting!  Besides, he does some of the best Redwall style minis I've seen.

Now if I only had time to paint more...

Oh yeah, I know this feeling all too well...

So, last day, everyone gets a little sleepy mole. Because I had spare putty lying around...

He's so cute!

Mayhaps I should beg Mr. Mouse a little more...or just put it on my credit card and pretend it was part of a previous kickstarter...hm...

Lovely and bigger than I expected.

Guess I should go look at the figs now....

I'm envious of you.

I really wanted that, it's a beautiful piece, but I just couldn't manage it.

I'm hoping Oathsworn find a way to produce something similar that isn't quite so labour intensive for them in the future.

Probably not, to be honest - it's been a freakin' nightmare so far, and I've only got 30 made...

But we've got more space to work in now, so the next 45 should be easier. I hope. After that? I've got a couple of ideas for an easier version, so maybe!

What if you offered it unassembled and unpainted?

I know I've got paint and glue...

I really wish I could have pledged for it as well...but I'm already really thankful that I was able to pick up my pledge at Salute! If I can, I will back every future project. Oathsworn really restored my faith in Kickstarter after projects i had backed that were poorly managed or I still haven't seen rewards for.

So after that post, I was relaxed and did not intend to be worried about delivery.  Thus, I was floored today when I found that I had a box with the my miniatures and cathedral wall.  I am reminded why I am habitually backing Oathsworn  projects at this point.

Now to buy the rules and see about making two batches of figures into a couple of plausible war bands...

(So what's the next thing?)

You'll need lots of sandpaper and putty too... and a wide vocabulary of curse words seems to be required during the build as well! :poke:
To be fair, just making one might not be that annoying. Doing them in batches of ten at a time is though!

But we are looking at an alternative way to make them at the moment, so a kit version just might be happening in the future...

We'll try to keep justifying your faith! We've had a good run so far... fingers crossed we can continue to manage things well enough. But I'm sure there'll be something unexpected to bite us somewhere down the road! ::D:

Honestly not sure what the next thing is... we had a couple of new projects planned, but it looks like we need to do more Burrows & Badgers first, as we're getting a lot of requests!
I just need a bit of spare time to pick up the putty again; I'm supposed to be a professional sculptor, but I haven't sculpted anything since January... let's hope I can remember how to do it!

This Kickstarter campaign is a collaboration between legendary game designer Jennell Jaquays and sculptor Darcy Perry, following the appearance of ducks in the previous Star Hat Miniatures Kickstarter: Delvers Lost in the Dungeons of Doom III.
This is also an opportunity for YOU to contribute! With the Legendary Hero pledge, YOU can collaborate with us to bring new characters to the Quack Keep module and gaming table.
      The Module
This Kickstarter will provide funds for Quack Keep - inspired by classic game adventure modules of the past but written to be more approachable for a new generation of role-players and workable with a wide range of game rules thanks to the 5th Wall Generic Rank System. It even comes with a fold-out GM screen as a cover!

The title is a nod to Quag Keep, the first novel based on a roleplaying game, published by Andre Norton in 1978 - around the same time that Jennell Jaquays began producing Advanced Dungeons & Dragons and Runequest modules for Judges Guild. The Caverns of Thracia and Dark Tower are both best-selling examples of her early work, both still in print after almost 40 years.
The later inspired Legendary Duck Tower and other Tales, which included a ducky-pastiche of her original Dark Tower cover. It was due to this and her work for Chaosium that Jennell Jaquays "was pretty much labeled as that designer and artist who did the ducks."

      Eldritch SwanSong.
      Father Quack.
      Froduck.
      Glen Fidduck.
The Grey Moulter.  Join us for an adventure with Ducks Lost in the Dungeons of Doom IV: Quack Keep!
Legendary Duck! YOU be the HERO! Stretch Goals
There is a Stretch Goal unleashed for every 1k funding goal reached and each one is a game changer: a new Duck will appear! Either a new Duck Hero or Legendary Duck will be made available for you to choose as part of your pledge.
      1k Stretch Goal Unleashed: Oduck!
2k Stretch Goal Unleashed: The Quack Knight!

Glen Fidduck is almost a must-have for me ;)

This is the Armadillo Warrior from Oathsworn.
In my Lost World Project I use him as Xolotl one of the last Elders who fights the Reptilians.

I put a few skulls on the base and a few bugs.

I'm uncertain if this thread should be here, or "Works in Progress" or even "Kickstarter". So moderators please move it about as required.

Anyway, here is a link to a big article on the Osprey Publishing site by Mr Lovejoy of Oathsworn Miniatures on about how he is sculpting some new figures. I wish I had a fraction of his skills.

I had to take the car in for some service today, so I threw my travel paint kit in my bag and grabbed a few Burrows and Badgers figures.  My brother recently decided that we should play Burrows and Badgers, and has a war band painted up.  I don't know if I'll have mine done by Gencon or not, but at least I now have a figure of my own.

Of the figures which I picked for my first batch, one's a landsknecht and two are in tartans, so I decided I'd better start with somebody simpler.  When I checked the Oathsworn site for a hint on the weasel fur markings, I was amused to discover that I had decided on a very similar color scheme.  I am considering this to be a speed painting practice item; it only took me about 45 minutes to do.  As usual, I attracted quite a few curious passers-by.
