Model suggestions for a Leviathan?

Recommended Posts

I'm going to be running a pirate based campaign and really want to have a Leviathan, but I'm having trouble finding a suitably menacing model. I thought of using Verocithrax and just clipping off his wings but it looks like he's not actually very tall? I kind of wanted him to be larger. Do anyone have any suggestions for a model that would be good as a Leviathan?

So..search for Warploque Miniatures - Undead Leviathan.

It's an undead Whale with a wreck in his back.

Personally, I'd use Kanjira, but that's just my image of a leviathan (yes, in my brain, leviathans look just like terrasques...in fact, that's how I remember what a terrasque is.)

...

Apparently my idea of what a leviathan looks like is completely wrong...

I've always imagined something like Kanjira swimming in water...

Yeah, so was mine.  Use the Bones Viridius and cut him off at the waterline at about the sternum.  Add tentacles or something where his wings would be.

Never mind, he's not released yet.  Verocithrax should work well, especially if you're playing in 15mm.

I have to make one now.

Look up the Reaper Kraken, Goroloth, and/or Father Dagon.

Oh, I already have plans for those three :)  When I looked up the Leviathan and saw his picture on the official DnD monster stats, I guess that kind of influenced what I was thinking of in terms of miniature. I do love Viridius' facial cast though; and the campaign's just starting, so I would have time to wait for him to be released. Will probably depend on how much he costs when he comes out

It is, right?

There are so many cool minis out there...

So little time....

I need an Immortality potion or a vampire to bite me in order to paint all I want.

I'd rather be an immortal without the sunlight allergy.

Hm, it might also give troubles when painting under a daylight lamp...

If you're looking for something truly huge and don't mind doing a bit of "conversion" yourself, you can get a giant plastic dinosaur or toy dragon and cut it in half so the bottom is flat, and mount it on a CD so it looks like it's rising out of the water...

This is a Jurassic Park aquatic dino that I got at the Goodwill, with Sir Forscale on its back. I'm going to be chopping it in half just above the flippers and putting it on a CD with some sculpted water around it.

Black Cat Bases do a really nice Kraken with a water base and tentacles.

Now Black Cat Bases had a bit of a serious flooding incident recently so they might not quite be back in business yet but I know the guy who runs the company and, if he hasn't got one cast up, I could give him my unassembled copy and he could cast one up for me later on when he's able to.
