Question the 2nd-4th of March:  Do you attend any local conventions?  If so, what is available at the convention and what do you participate in?

Don't really have game conventions in my area, the closest thing is that the Regina Fan Expo has a boardgaming area to teach people new games.

There used to be Frag in Regina in the spring. I went there once. I was in Regina when they had the first Fan Expo and could have went but found out about it after I'd already left the city. If it doesn't stop I want to go sometime.

As an answer to the question, not really. Nothing local but I have attended a couple a long time ago further away.

Question the 5th of March:  What genre, style or type of mini do you feel is under represented?  What company makes any minis of that style (feel free to post and example so that we can get a feel for what you want to see more of).

1. Kender. I know Ral Partha made the Tasselhoff Burrfoot for the Dragonlance Heroes box, another Tas in a single blister, and I think one or two others. I have a set of two very clearly not-Kender that I bought loose from a bargain bin but look vaguely like some of the goblins I have from West Wind. Otherwise, it's topknotless halflings all the way down.

tasslehoff1.jpg

(And the problem is licensing, of course. Kender are a lot like halflings, except they're very specifically not like halflings at all, and they're either WotC IP or Margaret Weis IP, which makes it harder. Also, I suppose Dragonlance isn't the powerhouse it once was, so there's not much interest in making them.)

2. WARFORGED. There are dudes in armor, and golems, and automatons. Some of them do in a pinch, but they aren't really "right." WotC made a couple actual Warforged in their prepainted lines, but they were meh in both quality and concept.

https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Warforged_(5e_Race)

I'd really love to see a good sculpt that was just a forward-leaning torso and legs, really clearly based on the art in the Eberron Campaign Setting, with a variety of arms on a sprue: an arm holding a sword, an outstretched "spell pushing" hand, a crossbow. A shield, a fist, a dagger. Something like that, sold in a pack with three torsos, would be really useful for Eberron games.

Reaper needs a greater variety of halflings and gnomes, both male and female. Most of them are rogue types.

In the industry as a whole: female humanoid dragons. Real torture is trying to mod three different female draconians, complete with wings. Hell is having to do it seven more times

I'd have to playfully say kitsunes with just two, three or four tails...  You can readily find ones with 5+ (Legendarion Kitsune Monk comes to mind for 5, and there are others, but brain is pre-coffee atm), and even 9.....  But for some reason the younger ones aren't as well represented....  Or tails are just too thin!  Quadruped/feral kitsunes are also seemingly hard to find..

I'll also playfully say dragons that aren't of the "basic colour types", but maybe I'm looking in the wrong areas for such.

"Proper" Wood Elves. Not pseudo-humans with pointy ears, but real fey; androgynous, wild and beautiful. Innately magical and repelled by iron. Older than history and utterly scary.

For me, and I don't know that its particularly under represented or that I just have never really found them when looking (admittedly not terribly hard), it would be cyberpunkish minis. I'm using that term loosely since I know it has different meanings for different people. That said, I'm thinking in particular of minis for games like Shadowrun, especially combining fantasy races with more modern/futuristic armaments as well as vehicles.

That said, there are some nice semi futuristic vehicles available for games like Infinity (both official and not). I think Warsenal might make some too, and they make great terrain pieces.

Atypical fantasy races. AKA: firbolgs (Sensible Shoes 3 is coming out with a nice female one), Dragonborne (everywhere has a couple, but usually only warriors), Kenku (Reaper has a couple in Bones...but those are all I've seen), tabaxi (why is it so hard to find catfolk?), Tritons (I haven't seen any minis for these guys.

I'd also like to see more 4-armed and 6-armed humanoid minis; most humanoids I've seen only have 2 arms.

Since this is where my heart lies, Faerie Folk & Folk Lore Characters are sadly lacking.

This is exactly the type I would love to see...it must be another Great Minds Thingy.

I feel like near-future sci-fi, e.g. cyberpunk, is underrepresented.  I know Iron Wind Metals still makes the Ral Partha Shadowrun minis and Reaper has some offerings in the Chronoscope line.

I don't know.  I honestly can't think of any at the moment.  I know that for stuff I looked for, even something obscure, I've managed to find something that was a fit or close enough to modify.  It may have taken a bit of searching and ordering from some guy in his garage, but I've found most everything I've looked for.  To include motorcycle gang werewolves.

Question the 1st of March:  Are you now, or have you ever been, involved in some form of Organized Play (Pathfinder Society, Adventure League and so forth)?  If so, how did you enjoy it?  Feel free to tell any funny stories of your experiences.

Leessee, I was a tournament organizer for Babylon 5 CCG, Rifts CCG, Vampire: The Eternal Struggle CCG, and Android: Netrunner LCG.

I was briefly a member of the Camarilla when it was owned by CCP, but their attack lawyers tried to force everyone who played White Wolf games to join, so I burned my membership card.

I've been involved in OWBN for six years.

From time to time, I go to SnowCon in Bangor, where I play boardgames with one of my groomsmen and play Earthdawn with the Lead Developer. The FLGSs donate a bunch of brand-new games for their "Play to Win" event. For each of these games you play, you get a chance to win it.

Also I go to Intercon, a local LARP Convention where there's lots of LARPing, LARP-related panels, and LARPers.

You thought you were rid of me... you thought "Thanks Gygax's Leather Dice Bag, July is over and we're through with Crowley's stupid questions!"

      YOU WERE ONLY HALF RIGHT!

July IS over, but I HAVE MORE STUPID QUESTIONS!!

Now, as a reminder, the obligatory rulze posting:

      1. Every day, or so (unless I am out or ill or something) I will post a question.
1.5. Should I be unable to post a question for the day a crack team of deputy quisitors, former quisitors, and random forum members are all chomping at the bit to step in and take my place...
      2. In theory there is a 24 hour span to answer that question before the next question is posted.
2.5. (Rule 2 is the most frequently ignored rule.)
      3. Questions are going to be posted between 6AM and 8AM EST
      4. Everyone is encouraged to suggest future questions to be posted via PM to me.
      5. You do not have to answer every question to play...
      6. If a question is TMI or N/A simply wait for the next question.. ..or post that you decline to answer (clues regarding why are always fun).
      7. Weekend questions may take the form of two or three day challenges, often starting on Fridays.

Hey all! Time for the 2018 ReaperCon Forumite Bingo! So, those of you who were on the cards last year, or got a card last year know how the game works, so you can skip the next paragraph.

What is Forumite Bingo? It's a convention game I came up that is generally well received so I will do it again this year. The game is just like what a bingo game would be, but rather than calling out numbers to fill your card, you must go around and introduce yourself to members of the forum who are on your card. Say hi to them, and you can cross their box off. Once you've made "bingo", return to me for your Bingo ribbon. Blackout isn't required, but several people did it for the grins. And there's nothing to 'prove' you met those who you have said you have, just the honor system. You only punish yourself by cheating yourself out of meeting wonderful people.

Last year there were more volunteers than spaces, so not every one was on every card, and hopefully there will be enough volunteers again this year. It made for a good variety. So, this thread is not for signing up to receive a card to play. This is a signup for people who are willing to be on a card. The cards will be freely handed out at the convention. Just come find me, and potentially my wife who may have my materials. Be aware, volunteering to be on the card will mean that complete strangers will be coming up to meet you, and they may not be actually signed up and be on this forum. That happened more often than I thought it would last year. If that makes you uncomfortable, then reconsider volunteering.

      So, the ground rules:

I exclude the Reaper peeps since they are all pretty accessible. The game's purpose is to meet the less visible and vocal forum members. I will continue that. Sorry peeps, we love ya, but I feel that's best. The free square in the middle will be me, since everybody has to meet me to get the card it seems the fairest way. You must be going to ReaperCon to be on the card please! And if possible, the full Thursday to Saturday at least. It's unfair to those whose card you are on if you don't show, or are a Saturday only person. I will not exclude you if you are a Saturday only (or similar) limited attendee. However, people who have you on their cards will get to cross you off without meeting you if you aren't there when they need you for bingo. By replying with the information below, you are giving your permission to use the picture provided and your name provided, and to be inundated with people introducing themselves to you. Once I've printed the cards (much closer to the con than I want), they are set in stone. I can't remove people from the cards, and they're a bit pricey to just toss. Plans change, life happens, and if you become a no-show, you simply become a gimme square and are crossed off automatically by those who need your square. It already happened once and well, it will probably happen again. We'll just roll along in those cases. Signups will be open from now until August 15th. That gives me a mere two weeks to randomize the cards and have them printed on card stock. I'll get a mod to lock this thread on that date, and once the thread is locked, no more volunteers will be accepted. One does not need to be very active on these forums to be on the card, but it helps people to recognize you. But I will not turn away anybody that isn't very active if they really want to be on the card. If there's a question about any of these numbered questions, please quote the text since the numbering is automatic and I can't control it if there's an insertion. I will update these rules as questions and issues come up.
All ready to sign up? Good! Here's what you need to do. Reply to this thread with:
The name you want to use. I prefer your forum handle, so people might have some idea of who you are. They can always write your real name across the square as a way of crossing you off, but it's up to you what name to have on the card. What picture you wish to use for your square. Again, I prefer your forum picture, but if you are someone who changes it often, I might grab one that isn't current so having you explicitly give me one helps. What days you will be at ReaperCon. I'll put the days you won't be there on the square, and this will help us know if your are there that day or not. I'm only using Thursday thru Sunday, with Wednesday as a simple bonus day.
This is optional, but if you could also send a recent picture of your actual self via PM to me, I'd appreciate it. Something like a full on face shot, without costume. I plan to have a "cheat sheet" of sorts to help myself remember who is who. This way I can help direct people to those members they're still needing to collect. My brain isn't wired to put names to faces easily, and being tired from the Con won't help that. So, having something I can use to point the way will help. Again, this is optional.

I think that's it for now. See you all in a month!
