Looking good. I have the same mindset when I'm trying to improve something. Got tons of minis so I don't fuss too much if whatever I'm working on doesn't turn out exactly right. Sometimes it takes a lot of work to correct a mistake and I would usually rather spend that time on something else instead. Chalk it up as experience and plow on as it is.

Black first, then pattern, but then I go back and edit the pattern with the boarder color.

Adding that little extra touch is what makes a mini special. Your BEAUTIFUL freehand is a fine example of that. They are a LOVELY couple. VERY NICELY DONE!
