Sparrow paints Isabeau Laroche as Captain Marvel

Recommended Posts

Husband has asked me to paint up Isabeau Laroche as Captain Marvel. He saw some pictures of it done on Tumblr a while ago and thought it was the neatest thing. So I am going to attempt to recreate it. When I was initially asked I didn't think I was nearly good enough to pull it off but I think where I am now I can do it. I'll be using this photo as reference:

The emblem on her chest will go onto Isabeau's shield as seen in original mini photos.

Currently working on shaving the decorative bits off of the shield which accidentally broke off at the arm joint when I pulled at it a bit to hard to inspect her torso.

I'm not the least bit sure why, but I've always had the urge to paint her up in Joker colors...

After much difficulty I got the decorative bits off. Didn't mangle the shield too badly. Got a rough sketch of the emblem on the shield. Not sure if I'm going to redo it or not yet, this was my...4th? attempt.

Had top stop drawing on the shield. I was getting small cuts into it. I think I feel comfortable painting it on now though. I sketched it out on paper. So maybe after a few more attempts at this I'll be totally ready to get in with it.

I anticipate that the shield will be the most time consuming. So I'm tackling that first. Still trying to decide on a good skin color and highlight and shadow colors for it once I decide.

I've lurked for about a year - finally got up the courage to post. I've returned to painting after a break of many years. This is a recent figure I'm proud of  (my photography skills however....) - hope you enjoy

I painted this figure as a white 2 years ago,  it took about 6 weeks of painting individual scales.
When I was done I thought it would probably look just as good if I drybrushed it.   I got the second one from a mini exchange or goodwill box, Dry brushing the body this time took 3 days.
For the wings I was inspired by a bearded dragon.
The nest was added per MiniSpawns request.  It was a stretch goal freebie from Oathsworn's Sensible Shoes line.
I have 2 bronze hatchlings as well, on TMM like the mother and one NNM.

      Meet the Daughters

A Hidden Realm lays far beneath tortured Perdition, a honeycomb of twisting tunnels and deep caverns. For centuries, outcast Dark Elves toiled here without the touch of the sun.
A spellcasting Morrigan leads your warriors. Then choose from stealthy Nightcloaks, deadly Vindicators, dual-bladed Deathcriers, meek Waywardens, and horrifying Soulweavers. Each Dark Elf starts with an unknown skill—until you create your war clan. And if you’re fortunate, some of your warriors may be Dark Fae like the feasting Black Annis, the nightmarish Bodach, slimy Gobelyn, enchanting Merrow, or one of many other possibilities.
Daughters of Twilight expansion sets feature 8 Reaper® Bones miniatures. Each comes with a round base for you to assemble and paint in your own distinctive style. Many of the exclusive figures we’ve selected aren’t available anywhere yet—you’ll be among the first to own them. The awesome figures inset here are from a rendering and will replace a few of the figures depicted.
Get Your Complete Guide to the Dark Elves
Learn their shrouded history and the secrets of female-dominated enclaves. Recruit exotic Dark Fae like the carrion-eating Boggart, mimicking Fetch, or sinister Sluagh. Duel with sabers to dispatch dangerous foes, wield long-lost eldritch magick, and master the forgotten art of shaping living weapons and armor. Pierce armor with the Deadly Bodkin. Fire lethal hand crossbows. Lend your Dark Elves prestige with Signature Armor designed just for them. And train the Cait Sidhe and giant orb-weaver to fight alongside your warriors.
Guides also come with extras. Get the die-cut templates you’ll need as your Dark Elves adapt to harsh sunlight and cast unique magick. A “Dark Web” PDF roster is easy to customize. It tracks your warriors’ levels, skills, armor, weapons, poisons, loot, treasures, and Adamant—the glowing but unbreakable substance only your Artificer knows how to craft.
      Roll with “Deep Purple” Dice
Sets come with three attack dice featuring The WitchBorn’s hit location system. A critical skewers a victim while an oops means your warrior fails miserably—sometimes with comical results. Add two D6 for rolling feats and injury outcomes and your Dark Elves will be styling.
