Pretty much the same as last month.

That said, one of my coworkers was talking about starting a DnD group.  If it happens and they use minis I'll look into painting a PC for myself.  Given I have 20 20s of minis in Bones and another 20 20s of metal I should be able to find something...

I’ve got a carryover goal of painting six lizardmen (Sleestaks) from Interloper Miniatures this month, and a continuation of my effort to get a few Dragon Rampant war bands ready using using vintage Minifigs Mythical Earth figures. This month’s goal would be to be able to field an orc war band (Misty Mountains, Battle of the Five Armies) without humans or Ringwraiths. That’s going to take about thirty figures, but most of them will be easy to paint. My stretch goal is to actually play a game with the first two completed bands.

Other than that, I am supposed to be taking armies/figures from the Portable Fantasy Campaign on the road in May and later in the summer, so I would like to get back to painting these 1/72 scale plastics. The greatest immediate need is for some mounted knights. (So, of course, what I actually have ready to paint is foot knights and crossbowmen...)

If I have to break discipline, there are various vintage SF and fantasy figures ready to go, and the ongoing Ghost Archipelago campaign could use more stuff.

So which catch your eye? I’m so far behind that I only got a sampler, minotaur, firbolg, tiefling mage, and the mounted and foot halfling, and, of those, the tiefling is calling...

I didn't get anywhere near as much as I originally wanted to get done in March, but that's life.  It was nice to get out of the house for more than work and picking up groceries! ::D:

From Feb/March that I'm planning on doing this month...

  • Decide on a colour scheme for my Catachans, clean up at least ten of them, and get started on their painting (this is much easier now that I have a dedicated area that's being finalized today, and has a LOT more space)
  • Clean up a squad of 8 Tau Fire Warriors and finalize their initial painting
  • Create an inventory spreadsheet of my various miniatures so I can track what I have (I really want to do this, and have started on some of it as it will let me know a bunch of things)
  • Paint (or hobby) every day!
  • Assemble remainder of my pewter Skaven from the 25th anniversary boxed army (only 10 5 poison wind globadiers remain ^_^ )
  • Assemble the remainder of my Rat Ogres
  • Convert Catachans, Skaven, and Tau to stamped/rolled bases.  Thinking 6x 60mm and 10x 25mm for Catachans, 30x 25mm and at least 5x 40mm for Skaven, and then 16x 25mm and at least 6x 40mm for the Tau.
  • Build up base for my Skaven Warlord
  • Build up and finalize base for my Reaver of Kargir, and Toghra (for Furiously Fluffy Howling Hounds army)
  • Start painting at least one of the minis in my Furiously Fluffy Howling Hounds army Krokuta is primed, as are Djiro and Kogo
  • Get base coat for my Ebonwrath random rainbow dragon - for now, goal is to just get the tan finalized as to where it will be

For Q2...

  • Work out where secondary and highlight colours will be on my Ebonwrath random rainbow dragon
  • Start bases for my Ebonwrath, as well as hubby's
  • Organize bits boxes (I have more than I realized, so this might take a while)

For 2018...

  • Pick up some CAV miniatures (BIG. STOMPY. MECHS!)
  • Pick up some Heavy Gear miniatures (I've wanted some for ages)
  • Order things from Secret Weapon...  Probably the washes (5-6, although all 30 wouldn't hurt), at least wave 1 of the weathering acrylics (but all would be useful), weathering pigment set, and of course more bases

March was a total miss for me on the hobby end. It's been about a year and a hlf since I did nothing for that long. The only things I did was take a few pics and show a couple of people that used to play with me that I'm still doing the mini thing. So my goal for April is to paint anything. Got some partly painted goblins on the table and the elf catapult that Kristoff65 designed and printed. Need to assemble and paint it as well as modding crew from GW plastic High Elf spearmen.

my goal for April is to avoid painting things.

I will probably fail.

I'm supposed to be writing 1500 words a day and then editing at least a pair of short stories.

Female centaur (in progress)

Dung Beetle Knight's Ball of Dung

one GW Age of Sigmar Liberator

Exception :

Anything painted at the weekend NNM workshop with Alfanso Giraldes

- probably a bust and the GW figure above.

April goals:

  • Take Minivember photos and put up a blog/show off post. (Why the elf I haven't done this already is beyond me.)
  • Order paint to:
    • Paint Isabeau Laroche
    • Paint Mini Ma'al
  • Start painting Isabeau
  • Start painting Mini Ma'al
  • Add new core paints to swatch book that is currently completed.
  • Start prepping the second swatch book for my other lines of paints (HD, Bones, other companies).
  • Color scheme the Shadows of Brimstone minis that don't have painting guides with them.
  • Start painting SoB.

I /think/ that's all I need to do start doing this month, I expect some of it to carry over to next month. I'll be super surprised with myself if it doesn't.

I was a bit slow last month.  I lost a week to a cold, and I ran a bunch of D&D games at my local library.  This month, though, I'm gonna crush it!  Until I have to start doing yard work...

22 Projects left on my shelf of shame!

Plus I would like to finish all these before Bones IV arrives... and I am still working on Bones I. Its only been how many years?

Heading to the April meeting of my painting club this weekend. First time I've attended in months!

I got my glasses prescription updated (new specs on the way), so hopefully I will be able to see what I'm doing a little better. I also auctioned off a bunch of Bones I was never going to get to, and now I'm going to try and focus on the stuff I really want to paint and/or finish.

So for this weekend:

  • A couple of Bones bugbears that have languished forever.
  • Assemble my Bones Viridius

I am also putting some of the auction money toward building a new gaming table. I'm going to insert an LED screen flush into the surface for projecting maps, etc. via Roll20. So that's on my list, too! Once the table is set up, I'll be able to re-organize the gaming and painting area a little better to make it easier to work on things.

e) get  a few more bretonnians done this time some spearmen & Halberdiers, undercoated just need to start them

f) start my Warzone Dark Eden force off & maybe some more cybertronic these are the old Metal ones not the newer plastic ones.

g) my KSII Cav forces will arrive sometime this month so will decide which army to paint and possible paint/camo schemes to do these

Huh usually I put one of these up sooner than this. Just been busy I guess.
      Who's all going?
How did you fair in the hotel lottery?

       So Sunday was event registration.
Did you get into the events you wanted?

My group did fairly well at the hotel thing this year even though we had to split the group this year. both hotels are fairly close.
I got into most of the events I wanted. had some issues with the priority system preventing me from getting into events because it conflicted with another event that I would only be going to if I hadn't gotten into an earlier time. Yet some how it did allow me to sign up for 2 Speed paints that conflicted with other events that I got into. (and I only realized one before paying)
Also I just a bit ago remembered that I wanted to do a Frostgrave event but they are all sold out already.

We're still going strong! Incredible. It's been a bit, so poke me if I ask a duplicate. I've missed y'all.

      The roolz:

      The obligatory rules posting:

      1. Every day, or so (unless I am out or ill or something) I will post a question.
1.5. If I fail to post a question, Inara (possibly) will post a question of her own choice.
      2. In theory there is a 24 hour span to answer that question before the next question is posted.
2.5. (Rule 2 is the most frequently ignored rule.)
      3. Questions are going to be posted between 6AM and 8AM EST
3.5 (Rule 3 may be the 2nd most broken rule.)
      4. Everyone is encouraged to suggest future questions to be posted via PM to me.
      5. You do not have to answer every question to play...
      6. If a question is TMI or N/A simply wait for the next question.. ..or post that you decline to answer (clues regarding why are always fun).
      7. Weekend questions may take the form of two or three day challenges, often starting on Fridays.

I will be posting late the night before as I won't be awake super early in the morning.

Blame @Bathory for the thread title and unofficial goal for this month...

If you're like me, you've got a bunch of unfinished projects collecting dust. Rather than start something new, why not finish something old?

      My goals:
Finish stone giant and these guys

I was at the 2018 Adepticon in Schaumburg, Illinois last month helping out at the Reaper Paint & Take tables.

I took pictures of the stupendous international Crystal Brush competition entries and other minis and terrain with an eye towards the interests of the people on this forum. Also some fun cosplay and miscellaneous interest.

I can't guarantee my photographs are great. I was using two cameras with very different capabilities and strengths and I am not a professional photographer. Some of the pictures use a very harsh flash because it allowed for super sharp enlargements of detail, something I thought painters here would be interested in.

I didn't know which entries would win the Crystal Brush competition, and as it turns out I missed the third-place winner. I have got pictures of the first and second place winners.

So to begin with, here is this year's first place entry, "Apocalypse", a diorama by Michal Pisarski.

And this is the second place winner, "The Name of the Wind", a diorama by Sergio Calvo. My pictures of this are not so good, I'm afraid.
