Question, April 12: Do you enjoy olde maps; do you enjoy drawing your own maps?

I enjoy olde maps as a curio but it's not something I would spend money on.

As to my own maps - I think the word "functional" works best here! ::D:

Questions for April 13:  Do you consider Friday the 13th to be an unlucky day?  Do you now or have you ever owned a black cat?

I do consider it to be an unlucky day and avoid going anywhere (except work, where my boss is not swayed by the argument). I won't try to paint anything today, as I know it will just not work out well.

I have not owned a black cat, I never open umbrellas indoors, I have never walked under a ladder, or scaffolding (which I consider to just be horizontal ladders) and I have lucky items, like earrings or shoes for specific things. For example, I have a pair of earrings I call my public speaking earrings, and the whole office notices when I'm wearing them, "Oh, I see you have Court today."

Basically, I'm an embarrassing pile of superstitions and habits

Question the First: Nope.

Question the Second: First cat I had growing up was all black with yellow eyes. I still miss Goblin. :)

I don't consider the 13th to be unlucky.  I think I've had a t least one black cat.  The think is because it was a barn cat when I was young, so ownership is kind of fuzzy.  Might have been one of our cats or might have been someone else's that like to hang out at our place.

Nope!

My housemates have 2 black and white cats, which is the closest I've been to owning a black cat.

I enjoy old maps, but not excessively so. I'd recommend "A History of the World in Twelve Maps" by Jeremy Brotton to anyone who is interested in the subject.

Like many others here I do enjoy creating my own maps, but it is very time consuming to make good ones.

I like Friday the 13th. Specifically April Friday the 13th. It is the anniversary day for Sir Cyr and I! Arguably our first date was in March 2012, but a friend outted us as dating and we officially coupled on Friday, April 13th, 2012. So if anything, it is a lucky day, and this anniversary is even better (not all April 13ths are Fridays).

My mom has a sweet black cat named Godiva. She is adorable and "mushy". She greets people by becoming mush at their feet and demanding to be pet. She's gentle and awesome.

A day like any other.

I'm a Dog person, no cats allowed.

I do pet them when I meet one when visiting a cat person...but I do not want one.

I like Friday the 13! My mom and I actually consider it lucky and usually get a scratcher at some point during the day. I haven't had a black cat, but, if I weren't allergic, I'd get one in a heartbeat.

I consider Friday the 13th to be no more unlucky by default than any other day.  Today's unlucky because I have "interesting" things to do for work tonight and my co-worker who could assist me with them is out of town.

I have not owned a cat.  I don't see anything wrong with owning a black cat, as long as you keep them away from my bird feeders.

I also like Friday the 13th. The first date of me and my wife was Friday October 13th to Fantasia.  To this day we have a lot of Fantasia decorations in our house.

Friday the 13 is about as unlucky as any other day.

I used to have 3 black cats. One of them had a couple of small white spots, but generally considered her to be black.

I was at the 2018 Adepticon in Schaumburg, Illinois last month helping out at the Reaper Paint & Take tables.

I took pictures of the stupendous international Crystal Brush competition entries and other minis and terrain with an eye towards the interests of the people on this forum. Also some fun cosplay and miscellaneous interest.

I can't guarantee my photographs are great. I was using two cameras with very different capabilities and strengths and I am not a professional photographer. Some of the pictures use a very harsh flash because it allowed for super sharp enlargements of detail, something I thought painters here would be interested in.

I didn't know which entries would win the Crystal Brush competition, and as it turns out I missed the third-place winner. I have got pictures of the first and second place winners.

So to begin with, here is this year's first place entry, "Apocalypse", a diorama by Michal Pisarski.

And this is the second place winner, "The Name of the Wind", a diorama by Sergio Calvo. My pictures of this are not so good, I'm afraid.

Looks like it has rolled back around to me.

      The roolz:

      The obligatory rules posting:

      1. Every day, or so (unless I am out or ill or something) I will post a question.
1.5. If I fail to post a question, Inara will post a question of her own choice.
      2. In theory there is a 24 hour span to answer that question before the next question is posted.
2.5. (Rule 2 is the most frequently ignored rule.)
      3. Questions are going to be posted between 6AM and 8AM EST
3.5 (Rule 3 may be the 2nd most broken rule.)
      4. Everyone is encouraged to suggest future questions to be posted via PM to me.
      5. You do not have to answer every question to play...
      6. If a question is TMI or N/A simply wait for the next question.. ..or post that you decline to answer (clues regarding why are always fun).
      7. Weekend questions may take the form of two or three day challenges, often starting on Fridays.
