Reinforced the tentacles bases by brushing on some white glue ... will add another coat or two reinforcement as I work on the base ... first stem drying ... next two tonight after work ...

Just like the tentacles it's paper towel ,water and white glue  ...WormBaseBsck.thumb.jpg.5346d1d594c114ddb6554f86871d4e2a.jpg

The two ends joined nicely ... tonight I'll hit it with the hot glue around the outside and rub it over the too then start in with the flexall top coat.

Hit the base with a gob of reinforcing hot glue then gooped on some flexall ... think I'm going to add more to center to shallow out the angle on the inside of his hole...

Also ran some test color to help 'see the lines' ...

Still not sure witch way to go with the skin tone ... maybe a fine rough ... DanH had some good food for thought ...

 For scale ...

Building was the easy part ... now I have to paint it ...

So still waiting on the last coat on the base to dry ... I'm mostly not as happy with the newer flexall and wish I had used a high density spackle or try ed out plumbers putty but its done and still drying ... so plated with paints a one ... theory is, keep painting till something looks right , then keep painting the rest till it matchs ...20180421_212846-1.thumb.jpg.88b7fc6dbb0fb9c8d4cf2f8a3454e470.jpg

Not sure how I feel about green ... might give it a purple wash before trying another color on the teeth.

The base is finally dry enough to move forward with masking the maw and top coating the skin ... getting close ...

Once cured I'll paint the base Kuden brown ... A gloss finish then flat mate for the skin ... and base to match Kuden.

If you followed along you saw what I did to get here ... if / when I do it again this is what I'd do differently ...

To start, smaller starting tube sections, and smoother conections ...

Take more time with the tentacles before assembly,  smooth them out more ...

Spend more time between tooth & tentacle and mounting the lips ... once the lips went on getting to the gums was next to impossible without a shrink ray ...

And finally I think I'd use cardboard to build up the base to make things stronger and faster ...

A few other points are builders choice, I wanted lumpy globy tentacles and scraggly teeth to test a slimy finnish, cleaner smoother finnish would work with more looks but the first glue gun and soggy towel project in close to two years, I cut a few corners ... I think it will turn out ok for the table top ...

If anyone wants to add suggestions,  comments, observations, recommendations, or any other big fancy word for tossed in your 2 cents ... the floor is open ... please do.

Started building a Kulathi battle force and colony outpost for their Kuden-3 outpost, in the Beehive star cluster, in the crab nebula ...

Having 3 fingers a hand and 6 limbs the number system fore the Kulathi is based on 6 ... with 2,3 and 4 also prominent, so I based there units on 6 ...

An officer (2 pistols = smg) 3 left hand smg and 2 right hand automatic rifles make a strike team ... no other unit types teams can exceed the number of strike teams.

The fire team has 1 officer 1 smg and 4 auto rifles ... a longer ranged bite.

I'm also adding a few hound of Tindalos units (4 with 1 smg and 1 officer kulathi) with bigger things in the works ...

I was watching the Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2 and it occurred to me ... using the same techniques I used to make my Kuden sand worm I could make a Interdimensional Beast ... that shoots energy out of its mouth ... a Beast from another dimension with some soggy paper towels and a glue gun ... he just got put on my list ...

It then occurred to me, my brain is not nearly as large as I like to think it is ... so I deduced their has to be a metric ton of other monsters out there than would not take a professional to make ... hence my call out to other monster fans ... cool monsters, with not too many fiddly parts ... what's the best 'makeable' monster ?

Anyone have any background concept on the Kulathi ? I'm kind of winging it with my Kulathi colony development in another thread but it's all fluid and easily adapted to any history thay may have ... hint ... clue ... speculation ?

This was my entry for the Quarterly Painting Contest on Facebook. I pictured him as some twisted villain's pet so he got a food dish and a toy! (Officially known as the Tennis Ball of Fetching!) I have a love of puns and F-eye-do cracked me up so I had to paint his name on his food dish.

I made him removable from the funny base and also made the ball removable. This way he can still chomp adventurers!

The contest was a blast and out of 70 entries, no two were painted alike. So many color schemes and different eyeballs! It makes me want to get a lot more eyebeasts and recreate some of the awesome paint jobs from the contest. (My players might cry! I fully expect one of their characters to purchase a ball and carry it around in their packs...just in case!)

Thanks for looking and C&C welcome!
