Exo - Mankind Reborn : A miniatures boardgame by Plast Craft Games

Recommended Posts

Kickstarter is live:

IMG_1637.thumb.JPG.6e36fb3c1f57fe5e9e63f33e8279b955.JPGAn upcoming kickstarter by Plast Craft games, an established maker of terrain for various genres.

This is their first foray into miniatures as well as an actual game.

Should note that English is not their first language, but they've been very responsive whenever I've sent a query about one of their buildings.

The link below is to a draft of the kickstarter not the kickstarter itself which will launch on May 2nd.

I agree. They've hired an excellent sculptor.

I have seen videos of koalas trying to attack people before. They're not especially enthusiastic about it, and are kinda slow. I think I'll stick w/the grizzly bear side-kick.

Edit - I take that back... they have a fracking bionic lion!!!! I'm playing that!

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen a successful Kickstarter with 22 out of the last 25 days being negative funding, including the last 13 days in a row of the campaign. That's impressively bad.

So what has caused that situation? With Confrontation the cause of the funding drop is pretty clear.

I went into the Exo comments section, and a lot of people are talking about whether or not the game is a good enough value for their asking price.  Honestly, I kind of think that's not enough to explain this kind of a graph.

It isn't a very big kickstarter (about 100k Euros right now).  Unlike Confrontation, the brand doesn't have that legacy aspect to it.

Has the campaign been run very poorly?  Have there been any shenanigans about the company structure?  Has there been any major changes to gameplay?

I'd add too much competition. Heck, CMON just launched another KS today, and had one earlier this month.

Black Rose just ended. But Arcadia Quest Riders, Orc Quest, Hellboy, Skull Tales, and Anno Domini are still going.

PlastiCraft is also not known for its miniatures games. I expected a terrain set bundle.

I didn't notice people complaining about value, it was the ones talking about replayability that caught my eye. They're gunshy about buying a board game that won't get played a second or third time I guess.

Those elements still don't seem like enough to make the kickstarter drop that consistently.   Those are definitely reasons why some backers would ditch, but I still feel like there should be something more to explain the consistently dropping totals.

I mean, they need to start off with something that makes people interested enough to click 'pledge' and then make those same people disappointed/angry/apathetic enough to drop.  With Confrontation, they had some $1 backers who were continually repeating all the red flags (there were a lot) and the creators were barely communicating.

I can see the competition hitting it pretty hard, but if people are all dropping to back something else, that should hit a lot of games (not just this one).

Have the stretch goals and reveals been lackluster?  Has the communication been bad?  Did they release a rulebook that looks terrible?  Is anyone suggesting that the company is untrustworthy?

Didn't see a post about this yet:
      https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/deadlyprintstudio/battlefx

BattleFX is a bundle comprising of several 3D designs of dynamic effects and destructible terrain for wargames. ready for you to print.
Every item of the bundle has been carefully designed and tested to be 3D printed. this kickstarter includes a STL pack of each pledge, ready to be printed using your own 3D printer - or alternatively, using online 3D printing services.
After working extensively on the movie FX sector, we realized we could apply that experience to our wargamme hobby - and taking things to the next level.
We have been working very hard and have already finished designing and testing every one of the items on our basic pledge, therefore guaranteeing that YOU will get it. However, we want to continue creating and offering you new, epic effects for your wargames - hence the advance stretchgoals!
/*Included in Kaboom Pledge and above*\
It has the widest range from trusters to muzzles flashes and smoky Fx!
S - Muzzles Flashes S - Trusters S - Smoky things!  We are getting more serius here big booms and more complex Fx:
M - Big weapongs, explosion and Sci-fi Fx M - Smoke Shell, lateral atack, Sci-fi barrier and barrels Fx  The Big Boys. It takes some time to print, but it also turns your war gaming table into a real battlefield.
L - Smoke grenade, Orbital atack L - Fire, water and ground explosions  The Kickstarter Star Product, the Epic Fx! Destructible, reassemblable scenography and cool lighting.

      About
"...Aulë made the dwarves strong to endure. Therefore they are stone-hard, stubborn, fast in friendship and in enmity, and they suffer toil and hunger and hurt of body more hardily than all other speaking peoples; and they live long, far beyond the span of Men, yet not forever."
      -J. R. R. Tolkien
Dwarves really are the best! While they're often a bit rough around the edges, they have the best accents, are insatiably loot-hungry, and will fight anything that moves—so we are going to make a bunch more of them!
We've assembled them into adventuring parties to make it easier for us to pack and ship. You can add an additional adventuring party to your base reward for $22. Additional individual dwarves can be added to your base reward for $5 each. For a slightly larger view of the minis, check them out on our blog. Here are the adventuring parties:
From Left to Right: Male Dwarven Brawler, Female Dwarven Bard, Male Dwarven Deathknight, Male Dwarven Druid, Female Dwarven Warrior
The League seeks out the ancient dwarven knowledge hidden deep within the lost caverns. They hope that, in time, civilized dwarves will once again inhabit those hallowed halls.
From Left to Right: Male Dwarven Rogue, Female Dwarven Sheildbreaker, Male Dwarven Battlerager, Male Dwarven Mage, Female Dwarven Archer
Hogg's Tavern is not the sort of place that anyone should visit . . . at least not anyone who values their life or health. Surprisingly, it has regulars. Its patrons are usually adventures past their prime or looking to make a name for themselves.
From Left to Right: Female Dwarven Mechanist, Male Dwarven Automaton, Male Dwarven Gunslinger, Female Dwarven Automage, Male Dwarven Investigator
Not everyone has embraced the "advances" made in the Steam Valley workshops. When the Savages descended on the valley, the Seigebreakers and their constructs helped turn the tide against the invading armies.
From Left to Right: Female Dwarven Vampire Hunter, Male Dwarven Undead Elite, Male Dwarven Necromancer, Female Dwarven Huntsman, Male Dwarven Warlord
The lands beyond Raven's Gate are shrouded in perpetual mists and haunted by the undead. Only the very brave or the very foolish venture there. Why not both?
From Left to Right: Female Dwarven Barbarian, Female Dwarven Berserker, Female Dwarven Wandsmith, Male Dwarven Fighter, Male Dwarven Barbarian
The Iron Hills are not an easy country to grow up in. There's bitter cold winters and orcish armies locked in perpetual combat. That's not even mentioning the greatwolves. No one ever mentions the greatwolves.
Every Stretch Goal we hit will add more dwarves (or dwarf-related miniature items/companions) to the Completionist Set. When we have enough of these for a new adventuring party, a new party will be formed. Here are our stretch goals:
At $7,500 the Female Dwarven Cleric will be unlocked and added to the Dwarves Vol. 2 Completionist Reward. She will also made available as a $5 add-on.
At $10,000 the Male Dwarven Buccaneer will be unlocked and added to the Dwaves Vol. 2 Completionist Reward. He will also be made available as a $5 add-on.
As we hit these stretch goals, more dwarves will be unleashed!

Anyone have any info about the company? How able do you think they can pull off a KS? They've at least been in business for a long time?
