June 9 and 10: What's your favorite way to treat yourself?

Are you thinking about doing that this weekend or soon?

Thanks, Crowley!

Once a week I head down to the resturant and enjoy my usual meal. Cheeseburger cooked rare, so as the balance the sanguine humour, and a pile of fries, washed down with several pots of coffee. (The waitress doesn't even bother with a menu, she just asks if I'm eating. This is the benefit of always ordering the same thing, it makes everyone's life a little easier.) I don't go on the weekends as it's too hectic, I go on Weds after the lunch rush ends.

A trip to a bookshop, game-store or tradeshow with enough money burning a hole in my pocket that I can buy whatever takes my fancy without having to think twice...

This isn't going to happen anytime soon, but when I pay off ship in September the sky is the limit!

Hmmm...  I'd probably have to go with a good, king sized donair.  Mmm, so good, so tasty.  Makes for a nice treat.

We won't comment on calories because I suspect it's a LOT of calories.

I do know a place where I can get pies, cheesecake, or pastries...for dessert...and that is after having a cheesesteak sandwich that is made with real actual cheese and pecan smoked rib-eye.

***Need to think of a non-food, non-calorific treat.***

Nope. Can’t. They are closed Sundays and Saturday is planned out already.

New minis, terrain, or a wargame rulebook.

Recently cashed in some brownie points with wifey to buy a new 3'x3' neoprene gaming mat. I'm looking at getting a couple of new rulebooks soon as well (Dracula's America and Gaslands), and possibly some post-apocalyptic shanties from Fogou models (I've accumulated a lot of brownie points).

Let us know what you think of Dracula's America. I'm very tempted by some of the figures, (Undead Confederates!) But I would like to know if the rules are fun before commiting myself to ANOTHER rule set.

Seems to come pretty highly recommended. I know Froggy has played it a fair bit of you want to pick his brain.

One thing that stands out to me from what I've read is that to really get a sense of immersion in the game, you need to have appropriate miniatures and terrain. To that end I've snagged a set of cardboard western buildings from eBay for cheap until I can afford to buy a bunch of 4Ground ones.

Hmm, no one thing jumps out. Most common is the occasional Starbucks run (I'm not an everyday guy). However a good book or game are right up there too. Favorite might be a good seafood dinner (lobster, crab, etc.) but that is most rare too being as how I look very in the middle of nowhere Illinois.

I haven't figured that out yet. I spent so long in 'crisis/survival' mode that it's been kinda hard to break out of that style of thinking now that I have a decent job and enough money.

The Big Treat when I was still a Long Islander was a Carvel  sundae. Here in Texas that translates into a Dairy Queen sundae.

I don't think the Big Treat will be happening any time soon.

A trip to Origins.  I will on Wednesday.   A close second is a trip to a bookstore.  Next will be Tuesday.

This is kind of why I picked this question.  We rarely have anything to spare in our budget (it took a lot for my husband to convince me to get ReaperCon classes) and I struggle with justifying things for myself. I was hoping to try out some free ideas. ::P:

A doll or minis, sometimes a dress, occasionally a ridiculous amount of shrimp.

I actually got a new doll before we left on this trip. Starfire, from the DC girls line. I didn't get a  chance to take her out of her box though, but she's beautiful.

Huh usually I put one of these up sooner than this. Just been busy I guess.
      Who's all going?
How did you fair in the hotel lottery?

       So Sunday was event registration.
Did you get into the events you wanted?

My group did fairly well at the hotel thing this year even though we had to split the group this year. both hotels are fairly close.
I got into most of the events I wanted. had some issues with the priority system preventing me from getting into events because it conflicted with another event that I would only be going to if I hadn't gotten into an earlier time. Yet some how it did allow me to sign up for 2 Speed paints that conflicted with other events that I got into. (and I only realized one before paying)
Also I just a bit ago remembered that I wanted to do a Frostgrave event but they are all sold out already.

We're still going strong! Incredible. It's been a bit, so poke me if I ask a duplicate. I've missed y'all.

      The roolz:

      The obligatory rules posting:

      1. Every day, or so (unless I am out or ill or something) I will post a question.
1.5. If I fail to post a question, Inara (possibly) will post a question of her own choice.
      2. In theory there is a 24 hour span to answer that question before the next question is posted.
2.5. (Rule 2 is the most frequently ignored rule.)
      3. Questions are going to be posted between 6AM and 8AM EST
3.5 (Rule 3 may be the 2nd most broken rule.)
      4. Everyone is encouraged to suggest future questions to be posted via PM to me.
      5. You do not have to answer every question to play...
      6. If a question is TMI or N/A simply wait for the next question.. ..or post that you decline to answer (clues regarding why are always fun).
      7. Weekend questions may take the form of two or three day challenges, often starting on Fridays.

I will be posting late the night before as I won't be awake super early in the morning.

Blame @Bathory for the thread title and unofficial goal for this month...

If you're like me, you've got a bunch of unfinished projects collecting dust. Rather than start something new, why not finish something old?

      My goals:
Finish stone giant and these guys

I was at the 2018 Adepticon in Schaumburg, Illinois last month helping out at the Reaper Paint & Take tables.

I took pictures of the stupendous international Crystal Brush competition entries and other minis and terrain with an eye towards the interests of the people on this forum. Also some fun cosplay and miscellaneous interest.

I can't guarantee my photographs are great. I was using two cameras with very different capabilities and strengths and I am not a professional photographer. Some of the pictures use a very harsh flash because it allowed for super sharp enlargements of detail, something I thought painters here would be interested in.

I didn't know which entries would win the Crystal Brush competition, and as it turns out I missed the third-place winner. I have got pictures of the first and second place winners.

So to begin with, here is this year's first place entry, "Apocalypse", a diorama by Michal Pisarski.

And this is the second place winner, "The Name of the Wind", a diorama by Sergio Calvo. My pictures of this are not so good, I'm afraid.
