Probably white primer and grey liner would be my two most used ones, since I don't have grey primer yet.

I find that I use the bone whites and leather browns more often than not.

[Scratches head] So the opposite would be bone blacks and leather... bluish? [/Scratches head]

If I discount Black Primer, Brown Liner, and the Other First Layers (because that is not where the question was aiming**) then I don’t know

**I think the question is not about the logistics of the painter’s paint rack. Because the obvious answer there would be about what bottles need replacing most often, due to being depleted by expending the most drops of paint. Obviously, that will wind-up being Liners/Primers.

I think the question is about the bright color a miniature ends up when it is finished. So in my case, I don’t know.

I think the last last things I painted were Archers :: they got a lot of greens and browns, but there were bright blues, yellows, reds, because some had “livery”.

Before that some ships :: they got a Steampunkish metallic brass effect.

My Warlord Reven Army :: Black Faux Acid Wash that I think consisted of Black Ink, Brown Liner, and Adamantine Black in equal parts.

I have made three attempts at Ghost Things at different times :: white and different greens for those.

I did some Malvernians with Red Tunics once.

I hardly ever do a totally Yellow mini. But I rarely do a Purple mini as well...those are each other’s opposites.

A mondegreen is a mishearing of a phrase and substituting similar sounding words so the phrase makes sense.

Thanks, pinkymadigan!

Probably brown, leathery colours. I tend to gravitate towards dark earthy colours (especially for rogues and rangers).

Going to try to make something with brighter colours this weekend. I guess blue-viloet is the opposite of light brown? If I succeed, I'll turn in the quest on Sunday.

Recently I’ve been using a lot of Red Violet, Pale Violet and Burgundy wine but that’s because I’ve been purposely trying not to reach for my greens and purples. Everything works in purple.

I have been using a LOT of blue (lots of Anhurian and Thalos models).

My most recent model that I started is bright orange, you can't miss 'im.  So, success!

You're welcome!

The paint I've used on the most minis is 09088 Stormy Grey as an undercoat for metallic parts.  (There are a lot of parts that can be rendered as metals on BattleMechs.)

The color I think I've used on the most minis as a color itself is 09056 Templar Blue.  I have a 12 BattleMechs painted primarily in this color (2nd Donegal Guards, Lyran Alliance) and I used it on at least one Bones skeleton.  You can also see it on my WIP for 14352 Unforgiven, Crusader Grunt (which I really need to seal and pronounce done).

Okay, it isn't done yet, but I think you'll get the idea...

Basically, my goal was to move away from dark leathery colours and try something new.

I chose my Wraith mini to be my test subject, painting it a blend of shiny blue and shiny purple (because ghosts ARE shiny):

20180603_195808.thumb.jpg.70198f27e4f56ebee973644c2908514c.jpg20180603_195849.thumb.jpg.e569af62a73cdc1587ca02adb4b461d0.jpg

Sorry about the poor photo quality, but I found that, without flash, the colours were too dark for the camera.

Huh usually I put one of these up sooner than this. Just been busy I guess.
      Who's all going?
How did you fair in the hotel lottery?

       So Sunday was event registration.
Did you get into the events you wanted?

My group did fairly well at the hotel thing this year even though we had to split the group this year. both hotels are fairly close.
I got into most of the events I wanted. had some issues with the priority system preventing me from getting into events because it conflicted with another event that I would only be going to if I hadn't gotten into an earlier time. Yet some how it did allow me to sign up for 2 Speed paints that conflicted with other events that I got into. (and I only realized one before paying)
Also I just a bit ago remembered that I wanted to do a Frostgrave event but they are all sold out already.

We're still going strong! Incredible. It's been a bit, so poke me if I ask a duplicate. I've missed y'all.

      The roolz:

      The obligatory rules posting:

      1. Every day, or so (unless I am out or ill or something) I will post a question.
1.5. If I fail to post a question, Inara (possibly) will post a question of her own choice.
      2. In theory there is a 24 hour span to answer that question before the next question is posted.
2.5. (Rule 2 is the most frequently ignored rule.)
      3. Questions are going to be posted between 6AM and 8AM EST
3.5 (Rule 3 may be the 2nd most broken rule.)
      4. Everyone is encouraged to suggest future questions to be posted via PM to me.
      5. You do not have to answer every question to play...
      6. If a question is TMI or N/A simply wait for the next question.. ..or post that you decline to answer (clues regarding why are always fun).
      7. Weekend questions may take the form of two or three day challenges, often starting on Fridays.

I will be posting late the night before as I won't be awake super early in the morning.

Blame @Bathory for the thread title and unofficial goal for this month...

If you're like me, you've got a bunch of unfinished projects collecting dust. Rather than start something new, why not finish something old?

      My goals:
Finish stone giant and these guys

I was at the 2018 Adepticon in Schaumburg, Illinois last month helping out at the Reaper Paint & Take tables.

I took pictures of the stupendous international Crystal Brush competition entries and other minis and terrain with an eye towards the interests of the people on this forum. Also some fun cosplay and miscellaneous interest.

I can't guarantee my photographs are great. I was using two cameras with very different capabilities and strengths and I am not a professional photographer. Some of the pictures use a very harsh flash because it allowed for super sharp enlargements of detail, something I thought painters here would be interested in.

I didn't know which entries would win the Crystal Brush competition, and as it turns out I missed the third-place winner. I have got pictures of the first and second place winners.

So to begin with, here is this year's first place entry, "Apocalypse", a diorama by Michal Pisarski.

And this is the second place winner, "The Name of the Wind", a diorama by Sergio Calvo. My pictures of this are not so good, I'm afraid.
