Man terrain stuff is a lot of work. Most of 1 core set - I left out the doors with moving pieces so I wouldn't lose them-primed/ base coated.

Base was mix of brown, grey, yellow primer with craft brown and grey paint. 90% craft paint.

Then I drybrushed half of them and added dirt (for all) and wood base colors (for same half that was drybrushed).

Somewhere in there is a pic that shows the difference of my "base" color and the untouched piece

Lots done today

Got all drybrushed, some purple glazes into the dirt. Some green, purple, blue glazes on stone. Did the dark wood shadows (had the same colors as in tutorial). Also did a brown wash. Not sure if I'm going to do more than pick out the details now. More work than I think I have time for with another whole box.

And the mine carts.

I think the cat lost one of the columns already. Hopefully it will turn up before the room gets vacuumed.

Out of curiosity I compared my tiles. At some points there's going to be a noticeable difference in height.

Spoiler

Most tiles look like they will be minimally different (though Adventurescapes is maybe `1mm higher?) but it looks like the smaller, mostly "wood" bits will be much lower. I'm not sure that will have much effect but it may need to be planned around.

Here are more comparisons

Great job. I think I'm gonna paint in grey, wash with Secret Weapon Miniatures Stone Wash, pick out the wood and other non-stone bits, drybrush grey and brown and be done with it!

They’re turning out really great!

I’m painting mine with the Dwarven Forge paints, so it will (hopefully) better match my existing Dwarven Forge cavern pieces.

And there is that same noticable height difference between the DF stuff, and the much lower Tablescapes Mines pieces .

Wow, just saw that my FLGS has Tablescapes stuff for retail... and it ain't cheap. Just the one starter set being 110$+ tax.  I think everything I got would work out to 400$+ which is way more than I paid. But also maybe more, because I didn't have my order handy and I'm guessing.

I live! I spent January making lots of little art that piqued my interest to get back into making art frequently again!

I painted a friend's Heroforge mini. It's quite grainy compared to metal minis but goodness, has it gotten so much better. I also have a rough camera adding additional graininess. It's hard to see here, but the vast majority of his robes are in Leather White. Pure White was only used for the extreme highlights, like on the potion bottle. The red also has green in the shadows. I'm learning!

I painted our entire set of the Secret Weapon Tablescapes Dungeons and Mines tiles!
This was an in progress photo. I realized the moment after I packed everything perfectly back into the boxes that I didn't get a completed photo.

Some finished pieces before repacking them up. Bless this sculptor, y'all. I drybrushed my way through all this while rewatching the Office and everything looks heckin' great because of these amazing textures!

I painted the new Bones Black Owlbear. I had to give it antlers, of course! This was a fun accidental exercise in almost monochrome. It's all purple but I intentionally chose some blue purples and red purples. The darkest color used was Nightshade Purple and the brightest was Snowdrift White. There's more variation in the white but I struggle with this camera phone. I'm really liking how solid it feels but I haven't tried testing it the way they tested the original Bones at conventions. :)

It also made for a really pretty palette!

Lastly (though it was the first in the timeline), I sewed some velvet bags for our new favorite game, The Quacks of Quedlinburg. I think it helped me get back into my art groove because I got excited about a thing, wanted to make something related to it, and already had the skills for it. I wanted it and I got it!

They're not stellar photos, but a cheap lightbox certainly brought this camera up to mediocre.

It's time again for a year-end roundup of the figures I managed to finish last year. These are the figures I finished during the calendar year of 2018, which was, let me tell you, another ... interesting year.

I was absent from here for much of 2018 (starting mid-August 2017), but that doesn't mean I wasn't painting. I hope to post a bunch of pics over the next week detailing all the minis I painted before August 2018. March featured a ton of stuff for convention GMing and I also painted a bunch for Tomb of Annihilation. And just whatever I felt like.
I'm going through stuff elsewhere to see what's been done and soon I'll be posting the list of minis (and also linking to other show-off threads).
