WIP 07010: Adrasteia Winterthorn, Vampiress

Recommended Posts

Just started painting this nice lady vampire; getting inspired by Alucard's cloak, from Castlevania SOTN.

Just primed it with a mix of Vallejo white and black primer, then washed using thinned down Vallejo Black ink;

Painted the mantle using as base Reaper Fresh Blood, shaded adding black ink to the base, highlighted adding Reaper Spectral white to the base and gently drybrushing it;
then glazed using Vallejo Red Ink, and finally  Tamiya X-7 mixed to matt medium.

The dress base was very thinned Army Painter Corpse Pale glazed over and over  and then White glaze. No need to shade cause the base was gray.

As always sorry for my English, hope you'll understand everything :)

Good start!

I'm Dutch not a native English speaker either, but I see no problems with yours.

Looks good so far, use a size 0 brush or smaller to touch up areas you're not satisfied with.

I think she looks good. A little midtone on her right cheek maybe, but don't be too harsh on yourself.

I think the face looks pretty good. It's a little more shadowy and atmospheric, a little less teeny-tiny details. More Expressionistic than Pre-Raphaelite, if you get my drift. I think it works very well with the painting on your figure.

Thank you for the advise Glitterwolf I think the face looks way better now!
Sorry I lost the trace of the colors I've used, so no step by step process :unsure:

Now what i can do for basing it? :zombie:

She looks very nice.

Basing is not my strength. I prefer to use plain bases with painted effects. With that caveat, if I were basing her I would probably put her on a ballroom / crypt floor: a smooth base painted with one or both of a marble effect and black and white (or black and red) checkerboard square tiles, maybr with thin gold lines between them as it would go well with her colors.

Wow. She's wonderful.

THe question of basing is also always a question of effect. So what kind of effect do you want her to have got later on? A more noble effect? Then a stone floor might be the choice. I can think of a number of different basings, but in the end it all comes down to what effect you want her to have later on.
