Doom minis reissued

Recommended Posts

Not sure who's doing the casting but Bethesda is reissuing the original Reaper Doom minis. The news release states they are being cast from the original tooling. Google bethesda doom-reaper-miniatures-figures for more info, the only link I saw was a preorder page.

Yeah that's a WAY better deal than trying to buy them on ebay. I've wanted the Cacodemon and Pain Elemental ever since I found out they were a thing but trying to get them on ebay, ugh, good look even finding listings of those particular ones. I'm totally in.

ETA: The preorder page says "Designed and manufactured by Reaper Miniatures" so it sounds like Reaper is doing the casting as well, though that's just my assumption of what they mean.

My biggest curiosity is..  Who's doing it this time?  As in, who's producing them.

$200 USD is still... Well, they do look nice, but that's a hefty price tag, although the sizing is nice (2 3/4" tall for some of them).

Hmmmmm...

Didn't they do this about 5 years ago, too?

I don’t know but I do know that Bethesda was selling them at their booth at Pax Prime around that time.

No idea though if that was new stock or old stock they dug up somewhere.

I understand that $200 is a lot of money all in one go and if these figures aren't your thing or whatever, that's totally cool. But it's not an unreasonable amount of money for what's being offered. Forget the fact that they're limited edition and mostly you have to resort to ebay to find them or hope that they'll be available in another few years. If you're not already looking for them, that's probably not going to factor into the price for you and that's fine. So if you just look at them for face value, 15 minis for $200 equals about $13.33~ per mini. Sure that still sounds a bit steep, but if you look at the most recent regular release metal offerings from Reaper, metal minis are running in the $7-10 range these days. Most of the special edition minis, including Dungeon Dwellers are in the $10-13 range, generally because they're on the large side and thick and the price of tin keeps going up, which is out of everyone's hands. So understanding that range, take into consideration the fact that only 4-5 out of the 15 Doom figures are human sized. The rest of them are big and chunky. Keeping in mind that we know for sure that the Cyberdemon (the big dude with horns and a big gun) is around 2.75 inches tall, I found a reference pic of someone's painted collection that shows the sizes pretty well.

$13.33~ might not be the best price for the human size figures, but it's a great price for those big hunks of metal, that also happen to be licensed limited edition figures that are going to be packaged in "a custom DOOM box with foam insert."

Not everyone's cup of tea for sure and like I said, $200 is certainly hefty for anything that you're not in love with. But it's a decent price for what's being offered, IMO.

The price definitely seems reasonable for what you're getting.  I just paid $9.99 each for my last two human sized metal Reaper Minis (Christmas figures), so $13.33 a figure doesn't seem out of bounds, especially since 2/3rds of them are significantly bigger than human size.

Doom is not my cup of tea, so I'm not interested at any reasonable price, but I definitely feel they're worth the price for those who are.

The last paragraph would seem to indicate that Reaper is doing the casting.

That's correct.

Reaper has cast and assembled these sets as part of a contract with Bethesda.

They are acid-dipped, polished, assembled and gloss coated.

Reaper is not selling these, Bethesda has exclusivitivity.

I had that flying flaming skull once, I converted a GW Dreadnought with it to create a Nurgle Dreadnought.

So, I promised to show off my Current Projects in the Fall Exchange Thread, so here goes nothing!

So, first off, I have  been having troubles with my Camera. It cannot seem to take non-fuzzy pics of minis consistently, even in macro mode. I took about 30 pictures of my current project minis...11 of those pics came out okay-ish. But at least one of every mini was included in those pics, so here are most of those.

Project #1: Dragonborn Barbarian! Been playing Wednesday Night D&D stuff and have become friends with a couple of regulars. Both have been impressed with my painting "Skills", so I'm making minis for them. The First is playing a Dragonborn Barbarian with a fire/Volcanic flare. So, I took to my Plasticrack Chop-Shop, and created the Abomination above.

And there he is with a coat of Primer and the first red Base coat on his scales.

Project #2: The other Player at the Wed. Game Is fairly young, about 14-15 ish. He has come a long way though, especially since he decided to try playing a Dwarf Paladin. So, I'm making him a custom Mini. Again, I went to the Chop-Shop, but was a little more reserved this time. I chopped off the original Axe, added an Icy Warhammer from a D&D Mini and a Beer Stein I got at GenCon a few years ago at a Mini Class.

Project #3: Diversify my Tieflings! And Finish old projects while I'm at it :P This Lady has been half finished for months. And Yes, the pink hair IS intentional.

Project #4: Mari the Sniper Ranger. This one is for a PC in my F2F 4E D&D Campaign that I run on Saturdays. This mini is apparently Admiral Thrune from some Pathfinder Adventure done up for their Pre-Painted Minis. All I care about though is that this is a Female Human with a Crossbow! You would not think that would be something difficult to find, but you would be wrong. Original Paint job was in a kind of bright red. Looks very different in these colors.

Anywho, Please comment. I live on Kind Words and Good Advice:)

      Hi,

Years ago I had some of the DOOM miniatures. The classic PC game really changed my life and I still play it today online with people.

I used to own the Baron of Hell, Lost Soul, Doom Marine, Cyberdemon, and a couple of others. Most of them are now lost or were sold. :(

I am looking to build a complete set of them now. They can be painted, primed, or just plain as I intend to have the entire set painted. If you have any that you are interested in selling, please contact me.

      email is jeffwirz@hotmail.com

Thanks again! I know they hard to find so am hoping someone here has some they would like to sell. Please let me know if this is the right area of the forum.
