Mediocre Tabletop...failed Display painter.

Always on the lookout for a fast, next to no effort, paint Trick. Almost typed paint scheme, but scheme implies far more effort than I’d like. :upside:

I think I put out a decent tabletop level paint job, it just takes a lot more time and effort then it should.

Both. Neither. In between. Claiming the fifth.

Which category is: "Putting them in a box afterwards and forgetting where I stored them"?

Well...I was a painter of miniatures for games: war games & role playing; most often, games that I didn't play myself. I developed a belief that toy soldiers had The Right to be played with.

Painting for display has an alien feel to it. The poor little fellows forever ignored in some dusty display case seems cruel to me.

I would say I paint now for the stories the miniature generate in my viewers' imaginations.

That sums it up very nicely.

Yes.

By which i mean that most of the stuff I do is for tabletop use, but I do like to push myself to do a really great job on things every now and then.

That's an interesting comment. I had never considered that you would have to deliberately do to TT quality

I echo Paintybeard and Chaoswolf.  I paint a lot of table figures to game with, and for decades they've been going into storage boxes.  Some get played with.   Some turn out nice and go on display.

Definitely tabletop. Occasionally push my self for higher quality but almost everything I do is meant for gameplay. Whether it actually sees the table is a different question but I'm improving in that regard too.

I'm a tabletop level painter; who occasionally has delusions of painting for display.  My problem is that I paint some areas to display level but then get impatient and either rush trough the rest of the figure or abandon it.  A lack of focus if you will.

I aim for somewhere in between. Most of the minis I paint are for games, but I do try to make them look as nice as possible.

That's when I actually paint, of course

Question for January 11, 2019

How did you meet your spouse/significant other?

I met both of my spouses through the internet - the first one on an IRC chatroom in 1994 and the current (not crazy) one through a facebook group for single members of my church.

Both?  Mostly I'm doing display stuff now, but my quality is what I'd consider TT+ .. our DnD group has fallen off to about once a month and the DM prefers theater of the mind, so not so many minis involved (which is a shame with 2 Bones IV backers in the party :D)
