Gurps 4e lite Portal Horror "The Blacklands" PBP recruitment & discussion

Recommended Posts

I figured Raoul would be staying somewhere in Chinatown, paying his 'rent' with a few odd jobs here and there, but is up to lexomatic. I am not opposed to have him sleeping on the streets somewhere, even though he hates the cold. We might have to work that out I'm PMs before the game.

That's what the 20k is for, to furnish a place, etc. As for what you're carrying. just make a list somewhere and mention specifically if you're bringing something, or going to get it if it's not on your all the time list. the character creator has the option of multiple (so for one character there's on- and off-duty, and one for everything in the car) lists, but only displays everything.

The sheet does a pretty good job sorting that.  In the equipment list there's an equipped column that shows E-equpped and ready at a moment's noticed, C-carried and on his person but will require some digging/readying, and  a dash representing owned but not on him, either in a safety deposit box or his apartment.

He's not rich but he's not poor either.  My character concept is actually pretty much a regular Joe.   One of the people I based him on is a minister in new York who picked up a small but nice condo for a steal by being in the right place/right time so he has a nice address, although the aculal flat is really tiny.  Morgan's world pretty much consists of his jobs (the hospital and Dr Lee's), painting and gaming, and his occupation: chasing the darkness.  Most of the time he uses gaming as a cover if he slips up talking to someone who hasn't seen something weird (oh sorry, I was thinking of the RPG we were playing last weekend.)  That way he just looks like a gamer rather than a nutcase when he starts talking about exorcisms to a normal person.

I also imagine he considers Dr Lee a close friend and hangs out at the clinic a lot when he isn't doing something else.

OK, so things have come to a head, and schedule of the 1st may be difficult. I'll try to start some pre-game PMs soon, but I have full day alone with the babe for the first time tomorrow, which may mean nothing, and a bunch of things dealing with renovations early in the week. So... we'll start soon, but I wanted to let people know.

No worries. Or rush. Actually, maybe this would be  good time for me to go poke a different game with a stick...

Tripped over some seriously bad work-related miscommunications that I'll absolutely have to work out this week (as in: before the month is done), so I might be a bit slow to actually put final touches on.

So this will start whenever. I'm probably going to have to move  in a few weeks due to the cats bugging my inlaws copd too much. I'll have zero social life then though

I think Kane, and Dilvish I need to have pre-discussions with? And Chaoswolf who's finally available is in the beginning stages of this.

Sorry for having real life intrude and slow this down a bit.

Ok, where are you guys finding those cool character sheets?

This a secret and we voted to keep you out of it....... Just kidding Chaos, but they are pretty spiffy.

Which ones?

The CGS does take a little to quite get used to (and puts PDF creation under "save as" instead of having the expected "export as"), but if you sort of know your way around GURPS it's pretty cool. It also actually calculates the interaction between skill defaults and talents/other bonuses correctly RAW, though I kinda hope that won't be as much of a factor for other characters then Charity/Samantha.

These are a bit of resin terrain from Ainsty Castings in the UK, Fire Hydrant x2 Different Based, SKU 8205.

They were really simple to paint. The gravel is molded on.

They might be a smidgen oversized. Here's a scale shot with a figure:

Pendraken is a company that does a wide range of 10mm historical and fantasy minis.  Occasionally under other trade names  they branch out into some other
stuff like terrain or larger figs.  In this case they are doing 28mm moderns under the trade name Militia Miniatures.  Since their very friendly forum is my second
home as far as posting about the hobby,  I figured I would share this  here even though I don't really do modern conflicts.

      What is Militia Miniatures?
Militia Miniatures was first launched through Kickstarter in 2014, with an initial set of 10 modern mercenary personalities.  139 backers helped us reach our
goal and all of the pledges were delivered within 2 months!  It's taken a bit longer than we'd hoped but we're now back with a fantastic new sculptor and another
50 sculpts, all suitable for wargaming, roleplaying, or simply collecting and painting!

For this project, we've had 50 new 28mm sculpts produced by the extremely talented Paolo Fabiani, which are all waiting to go into moulds.  If we can hit and
exceed our target then we've got some nice extra goals planned...

Here is the link to the KS.

Along other things, i enjoy painting and gaming with 1/2400-scale modern naval craft. Here's my US Navy contingent thus far. Lake Erie, Carney, Ramage, and Samuel B Roberts are from GHQ, the rest are from Viking Forge.

Up next are the Russians. All the surface combatants are from GHQ, the Kuznetsov and subs are Viking Forge, and the Mitrofan Moskalenko is from Shapeways.

I am almost certain this RAFM miniature, RAF02802, "Desirée Dark, Mercenary," sculpted by Werner Klocke, is meant to be the character Selene from the "Underworld" series. I painted her up, though, as a regular human.

To compare and for the amusement value, here's one of the first figures I painted after coming back to minis after a twenty-year hiatus, a few years ago. It's another version of Selene from "Underworld," this one from Hasslefree (Hasslefree HFA021: Dionne (B)).

I ... think my style has changed, some, the last few years.

This is RAFM's "Paige Fox, Reporter," which I looked at and immediately thought "Lois Lane". She's a little cartoony, maybe a little satirical, but I painted her up with all seriousness.

      WIP thread here.
