The 'Mere is a Cruel Mistress

I do love that cape. And the eyes on both minis. You definitely pimped the pewter. ::D:

I always worry about offering criticism, but as you welcomed it, I'll offer my thoughts? I think your colors look good overall. I can only comment on two things:

  • The angle of the arm holding the flowers looks unnatural. I skimmed through your WIP post, I think it said that you bent the arm into position? Cutting it off and reattaching might give a more natural feel to it.
  • I'm having difficulty seeing highlights and shadows on the crown/tiara/whatever. It might just be the photos or lighting though.

I very much like it.

Thanks so much!

I wondered if the arm would still look unnatural. I think the problem is at the shoulder, and not the elbow, so I'm not sure how I would reattach it? Totally open to suggestions on that.

And you are 100% correct, I haven't finished her tiara! I got caught up in the 'done'. Lol. I will have to fine-toothed comb it once I can see it with new eyes.

Thanks again! I really do welcome all comments, be they complementary or critical!

Oh wow, I'm so glad you showed us this, it looks great ::D: Love the cape and the way the tail looks through the resin.

I think it's a wonderful piece!

Great idea.

About that arm, it depends, to me it looks like he's offering the flowers and then when she gets closer he pulls away a bit, maybe he's trying to lure her closer?

This came out great; I completely understand the apprehension you had before the pour and I'm glad to see that it all worked out.

As to the outstretched arm with the flowers I think it works if one thing is added. If a sheathed dagger were attached to his waist with the hilt pointed toward his left hand it would give credence to the idea that he is trying to lure her closer. Of course that would also greatly change the theme of the piece but might be worth thinking about.

As is I think it looks great and it was fun watching your progress with this project. You certainly gave me quite a few new ideas and things to try on my next project.

It is a LOVELY & IMAGINATIVE narrative creation. I doubt I would have the courage to pour resin over a piece I had labored on as long as you did your BEAUTIFUL mermaid. VERY WELL DONE!

Coming off the heels of two successful Kickstarters, Reclusive Phoenix is happy to announce our third project. This is the second project in our Slumbering Oblivion 32mm scale game line and the aim is to produce the human armies to face off against the forces of Cthulhu. The human army is known as H.A.D.E.S. (Human Alliance in Defense of Earth and Sea) and is under the command of the new human alliance called the Aligned Nations of Earth.
      TL:DR / The Short Story
We are trying to fund the human army miniatures for our upcoming Slumbering Oblivion 32mm scale tabletop war-game. The initial goal is to fund the creation of a 5 model unit manufactured out of resin.  The more funds we raise, the more units and models we will produce and the quicker the game will come to fruition. This is also an EU friendly campaign in the sense that shipping will be fulfilled from US and UK locations which should help cut down on additional taxes and fees for international backers.

I backed their first KS for cthuloid monsters and it was excellent and delivered without issue, the second for the Giant Cthulhu also appeared to go well so if you like the look of these they're probably a safe bet

At my recent IPMS show I had the honor (not to mention the absolute joy) of running a Reaper Paint n Take and mini painting demo. For this I picked several Reaper figures and the KDM Twilight Knight. To say the Twilight Knight fell apart early would be an understatement but fortunately I was simultaneously working on Remus Raducan, Blood Wolf and he worked marvelously as reference and inspiration. So here he is in all his NMM glory. Which is rather funny since I haven't tried the technique since Reapercon where I took @Kuro Cleanbrush 's 4 hour NMM class.

We just launched our campaign for awesome gargantuan dragons, they are 20 cm high, they will look huge compared to 32mm miniatures, the design of every dragon is also unique and different.

Corvus Corax Miniatures is a small hobby project created in 2013. Since then, three projects have successfully funded on Kickstarter and all have been fully delivered on time without any delays. The feedback from the backers have only been positive. Thanks to the support through Kickstarter, 17 miniatures have been made available.

The goal of this project is to raise funds for the production a total of four (4) miniatures for the Clansmen of Caer Loch. The miniatures will be cast in high quality, non-toxic resin. The scale of the miniatures is 35mm (measuring to the eyes in a standing, straight pose, although some characters may be slightly larger because they are supposed to be large characters).

You can also pick up the other Corvus Corax minis from previous projects as add ons

I've backed the previous projects and been very happy with the results
