Rune Wars Going Away?

Recommended Posts

Fantasy Flight is ending Organized Play for Rune Wars - generally an indicator that the game itself will not be for behind.

So, I ordered two boxes of the undead Carion Lancers - to rebase and repaint for my Empire of Dust in KoW.

I may add a couple of  WizKids Carrion Crawlers with added riders to make make two units of three models each.

No kidding.

I may need to go grab the few pieces I've been eyeballing...

Eh, if you knew Battlelore 2nd edition, you knew this was coming. I knew about it a month ago (?) when it was mentioned on Dakka and BGG.

IIRC, Unlike B2, FFG released enough material for each faction, so you could still play the game. I think two starter sets work for two armies.

Order dials were a good idea, but they were based on the Star Wars X-Wing game, iirc.

Picked up a starter for $25 new, and might get another one for a game.

Not exactly surprised.

When Grump told me Runewars was going away my response was What's Runewars?

I never even heard of it.

The worm riders are nice though.

I think it's been assumed dead by most since December with heavy speculation that it wouldn't making it to the new year starting back in June-July. Light speculation starting even sooner.

Rune Wars is also competing with FFG's more successful X Wing games, so it makes sense.

I should probably look and see what else in the line can be used for KoW.

I think most ppl assumed it was dead when FFG announced Star Wars Legion. They need to realize that they can't just pump out miniatures games like they do board games. Minis require a whole different level of commitment.
