I just ordered my core force today. I had some other stuff I had picked up previously. As it stands I now have the following forces available:

1 Ogre (ordered)
2 Mantis (ordered)
1 Chancellor
1 Sultan
1 Scarab Tank
1 Dragoon
2 Hornets
2 Dragonfly

I am in the process of painting up the sultan and have made excellent progress on the legs last night. I may post some WIP shots of it tonight. I am going to call my force 'House of The Fang'. I can't wait to get those sweet sweet mantis' in the mail this next Wednesday or so. I plan on naming and painting their names on the base ::P: . Anything else you think I should pick up?

I also noticed based off the nukecon cards Adon has a lot of figures that haven't been released yet.
Looks like:
Protector (CAV)
Grenadier (CAV)
Recluse (CAV)
Saberhorn (tank)
Baron (Gunship)
Courier (APC)
Wasp (Vehicle)

That's 3 CAVs we have yet to see. Do they have sketches of them in any of the available books?

You could always do what I did with unreleased Rach CAV's and go to the Boneyard and make your own. Check out this thread for the results:

"Just as there is no crying in baseball, there is no whining in CAV." --Me

My CAV units: Merc - Steel Talons (The Arsenal of....Whatever Political or Ideological System or Philosophy You Happen to Espouse) Location: Elysium Planitia, Mars

Terran - 77th Legion (The Lucky Sevens) Location: Fort Nellis, Las Vegas, Nevada, Earth

Adon - Torfel 79 (Golden Death)

If I'm remembering correctly, the Recluse is a multi-leg so it shouldn't be too hard to make one from a Spider or Scorpion.

Actually the Recluse is a tank: Mclass Tracked w/ Blaster and Dorsal Gun/1

I have been proxying them with Longtom models from Battletech.

Also does double duty for the Templar Viper tank, <_<

The Mitso-Ta Oni Cav is the only one I can think of that is a walker w/ Dorsal Gun and Blaster.

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of Circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of Chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Yep. Thats what I get for not looking at data cards before I type.

BTW.. The Adonese are my second favorite army. I struggled long and hard with an Adon or Terran force decision before last years RCON tourney.

May as well take a shot at me too Papabees, my mercenary force is about 70% Borsig-Spline and RMI,
with an Assault Platoon of Ogres as the sledge hammer. (one of my gaming buddies decided on an all Ritterlich force so I got all his Adonese in trade.)

Actually I have to confess that I would have gone with WHICHEVER faction got the 'Hawk VI and T-bird, my favorite Cavs....along with the Ronin and Regent and Archer and 'Hawk V and Falcon and I think you get the point. <_<

Back to the point, Adon came VERRRYY close second to Terran for my faction, with the reduction in emphasis on the factions, I (like the rest of us) am waiting to see what Cavs will be universal and which ones will be Faction specific.

I keep having fond dreams of an Assault company composed of Thunderbirds and Ogres backed up by Ronins, Starhawk VIs ,Mantises and Chancellors. :grr:  :poke:

I put this list together as a consideration for buying and starting to play. It is based off the beta rules and stats from ReaperGames.com. Let me know what you think. One consideration is cost. This list is around $50 or less.

Adon
Mech Infantry
7093 Centipede 137 x2
7033 Lt Mortar 72 x3
7015 Rifle 87 x3
Specilist
7064 Chieftan 206 x2
7095 Chancellor 398 x1
Flight
7094 Dragonfly 179 x2

Total 1919

Sorry it took so long. I'm not an expert, but doesn't your Specialist unit need 4 units in it? Also, why take them as specialists if you do not take any of the specialist engineering upgrades? Could you not just take them as an armor element instead (with 4 models granted)?

Perhaps I missed something in the rules development?

As it stands now, pending the rewrite, a specialist platoon may have 1 to 4 models of any type. So in essence you could use it for a short armor platoon, a mixed platoon, four gunships, whatever you want.

I'm not so sure I'd want to get hit by a missile with a "dog brain" AI.

I seem to recall reading a long time ago that the Ogre was down from 3 PBG shots to 2. Does anyone know if this is still true? The Ogre was my favorite CAV, and I would be sorely dissapointed if it were to be weakened in CAV II- A Galaxy at War. ::(:
"There is no peace amongst the stars; only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods..." - WH40K
"God made men and women, but Sam Colt made them equal." - old marketing slogan
Feed the young (after the holidays), Nock thine arrows (next year maybe), and Down yer ale (after you sober up a bit) - it's time for a war game.

The last data card I saw on the Ogre had it with three DA's. I hope it still is.

Ok, this has been bothering me for a while.

I finally got over the size of the Dragonflys (maybe only as big as a Cessna Skymaster or Kiowa 'copter?), but most of the Borsig-Spline vehicles look to small to me. The cockpits on both the Ogre and the Mantis (lovely and big as they are in general), do not look tall enough to fit an average humanoid, unless they were laying down.

I'm having the same issue with the Dragoon. It's a fantastic looking vehicle, but the pilots window, and the overall size of the tank do look big enough to fit someone inside.

Refer to your fluff my friend. Borsig Spline uses a laydown type of cockpit. See the page with the Scorpion pic.
