  1. Been awhile since I posted, and this guy was partly to blame. I started him a couple of months ago, and was having trouble getting the armor to do what I wanted. I've had the painting bug again lately, so late last week (after finishing another mini, post after this one), I finally buckled down and forced myself to get through his armor. This is more NMM than I've ever done on a single model. After the armor was done, I flew through the rest. Back when I started this, I thought it would be neat to do something Final Fantasy inspired, and this is what I came up with. I thought this fig

  2. Here's another Bones dungeon dressing that I finished up the other day. I really love this sculpt, and it translated quite well to Bones. Hopefully my photos do it justice; I had a hard time figuring out how best to pose this thing for photos. I'm quite happy with how the marble came out. It doesn't show up well in these photos, but I went over the marble areas with gloss varnish, to give it a nicely polished look. The gold trim was originally going to be done in gold NMM, but I decided I was ready to move on and get this done, so I used some P3 Blighted Gold. Si

  3. The next 3 days will be big mess for me, since I'll be working, and traveling. I wanted to stop, and take a moment to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas (or holiday of your choosing). I hope you are all safe, and you have a great time.

  4. And lastly, a bonus mini: treasure! This is such a simple thing (and basic paint job), it didn't really warrant a thread of it's own.

  5. Here are some completed photos of a piece I wanted to do just for myself. I posted a really quick WIP thread on this forum as well. There are some more photos on my blog (link in signature). As always, thank you and I hope you enjoy!

  6. I don't do show off threads, but I'm happy with something, and I'm posting it. It's actually the P65 (65049) model, but the currently available version of the same sculpt is 02718. My highlights are garbage, and I don't love how the brown on the legs faded into the blue to make a boring gray. Additional criticism, hints and nitpicking are welcome.

  7. I've been wanting to do this conversion ever since I saw someone else mention that they did a similar one, giving him a shotgun instead of one of his pistols. Obviously, Dresden should have a staff in his other hand. For reasons of making things easier, he's wielding the Blackstaff. I also tried my hand at OSL for the first time, on his pentacle. 80007 The Black Mist as Harry Dresden (WIP: 1 2 3 4 5)

  8. I have moved my dragon to this thread as suggested by the members. Original text -- Here goes my entry.... it is not the quality of what I see here but since I did finsh it in time I felt it should be at least posted here. I stripped an re-painted my orginal "Bridge of Sorrows" dragon and figures.

  12. Girlfriend and I came up with an interesting joint project: she has several tiny glass bottles, and I painted up a miniature fire elemental and mounted it in one. Another mini bottle now contains Reaper's headless gingerbread man. These are going to make some interesting stocking stuffers, and perhaps tree ornaments...

  13. Packages are packed up and ready to to to the post office. I kept overstuffing them and popping the priority mail boxes open. Finally had to tape them shut. And I just realized now that they are sealed that I didn't include the notes I wrote . I could open them back up but for all that tape.

  14. This is another of my experimental flats - an elf pinup babe. I started with an internet sourced image, then redrew it in pencil on vellum, repositioning the forearms and hands, adding the sword, and clothing her in some lingerie (vs the sports bra and shorts in the original image). The drawing was inked, re-sized to 90mm in photoshop, then traced onto thin sheet plastic. The plastic was cut out, then the putty work began starting with the face, bra, and panties. After this batch cured, there was some carving and and sanding to refine the sculpt. This process was repeated throughout the sculpt

  16. Yes, I painted her up in the colors of Ariel, but apparently she just looks like a redhead in a colorful bikini to most people. This next one is sort of a personal one. She's done in the colors of my faire costume, and her cat is painted up like my much loved kitty who is no longer with us. You can see on the back of her where there is a little chip in the paint. I had a mishap while trying to adjust her pinning and it didn't fix well. You can't see it from the front anyway, right? 77085 Townsfolk: Wench 77176 Familiars (Cat) (WIP: 1 2 3)

  18. Naked robot women. And you can believe that day is coming. I, for one, refuse to have anything to do with replicant succubi. I like my ladies organic and feisty. But there are enough people out there devoid of social skills (and more hatching every day) that a Robecca will sell many units. Future Buglips: "It don't matter how purty they look, son. A bot's a bot. You make sure n' shoot it afore it gets a chance to talk." Bugson: "But they look so much like real girls, and the new models don't have cold flesh! 19. Also, many thanks to the VBPD officer who let me off with a warning for rolling through a red light (which I still maintain I stopped at, not that I was particularly sanguine about my chances in court). Whether it was because its nearly Christmas, he.dodnt.feel like doing the paperwork, or just because he didn't want to ticket a guy in a tricorn, the hat of awesomeness, I greatly appreciate it.

  23. Nerd alert! Just kidding. We're all nerds here. I think there needs to me 'miniatures anonymous' or something. Between my recent Reaper order, the minis I just got from a Kickstarter, plus the boxes and boxes of other unpainted ones laying around, I think I need to admit I have a problem... Mostly a lack of free time

  24. NMM is hard and tedious. That is all. Last time I was working on this, my gradient colors were way too thin. I'm not sure if they were thin enough this time, but it seemed to work out. I touched up his leg a little bit, and added a plate at the bottom that I missed. Also complete are his left side plates, gauntlet, and shoulder pad bits, the upper and lower pieces of the front of the breastplate, and his headband. I think I would have a better view of how it looks if the rest of him wasn't primer. I'm still on the fence about pre-basecoating everything vs. working on one

  25. Yerp. I have the tricorn because. Seriously, I liked it, I bought it. A rather nice leather one, www.museum replicas.com, about $100 when I picked it up a few years ago. It was in my car because it was part of my Halloween costume (highwayman coat, baldric, LARP cutlass, tricorn) which I'd never bothered to take out after the party I wore it to, and I was wearing it because we were playing Iron Kingdoms (although a great helm would be more suitable for my character), and I felt like it. Serendipity.

  27. I failed to get mine sent out before going out of town for the weekend. I even brought the package with me in hopes of sending it out today. I ran behind schedule getting to the hotel and was unable to get it out. I suspect tomorrow being a Sunday will make shipping difficult. Any suggestions? Or should I just wait until Monday morning?

  28. Small update on on my Package for my Partner. Will be sending it shortly after Christmas, most likely. Project needs time to dry before more progress can be made, meaning no more work on it today. Tomorrow I'm busy with stuff and same for Monday. Might get some work done on Tuesday, though. Hoping to have it in the mail by the 30th at the very latest. Also hoping you like it, too. GF

  29. So after a Corgi Meetup today and a late lunch outside in the freakish weather I got to work on Getting the base ready to be sealed and the dragon done. So here it is, dragon done and base ready for sealer. You'll know by my loud cursing if it clouds but it has to be sealed because I EXTENSIVELY used powder pigment on the base. So as it stands now pre sealer: I still have to cover this base in stuff and add some additional point of interest. However, It is pretty safe to say that now I will finish as I love to base and that is essentially all that is left.

  30. Got a bunch done on Wyrmgear today. First I finished the Blighted Gold on his wings. Then I did the base metals for his tail. At the same time I did the base coat for the other metals on the wings. And I decided it would be ok to glue on the tail now. Let's see if that comes back to bite me in the ... tail...

  33. I was very disappointed that my package hadn't arrived. It contained a ton of map stuff that I wanted to use for my first time doing serious GMing in a couple of years. I'd gotten my postage tracking, and it had reached Tucson earlier this week, but it hadn't quite gotten out to me. Then, literally five minutes before I left for the game, I checked the apartment manager's office, and it had been left there. Grabbed it, and had everything I needed for the game. Glad it did. I probably would have winged it, but it would have been a bit slower, and we might not have had one player shi

  36. Two finished minis ... both from Games Workshop (but not minis for Warhammer Tabletop, more like charactgers for Warhammer RPG or Heroquest). And ... I started (!) doing bases ... so nothing special, but surely better than nothing I hope. Barbarian (the skulls on the belt, sword, forehead and neck were the most difficult part): Dwarf Slayer ... really easy to paint (yeah, I know ... and still nowhere perfect, but I like the eyes): I don't know if I really like what I did with the weapons: painted them in a light metal and then added a blue wash ... effect

  40. Tonight's IKRPG session ended with 5 of our 6 Cygnaran Reconnaissance Service members unconscious and bleeding out, and our thief/alchemist fleeing into the jungle with the Cryxian slavers close behind. The ref has assured us that next session will be us waking up, naked, in a Cryx dungeon... My stormblade went out like a boss, surrounded and massively outnumbered, swinging his storm glaive gamely with his last breath.

  42. Feeling a bit better now. I've been doing a few things, mainly assembling all the new stuff that turned up this week, but now I'm waiting on some plastic glue and fancy bases, so I made an early start to this guy:- Determined to enter something in the pageant this time, no chickening out just because everyone else's looks better. I didn't think his muscles were defined enough for a wash to work, so I'm doing the dreaded 'painting up from shadow', but his jeans and coat are midtone. Need to repaint his crotch, didn't realize he had a codpiece until I checked the official pics for

Not shaped yet, letting the GS cure first. I like how it came out so I'll match it when I break out the GS again for gap filling. Speaking of mods, I was in the mood and looking over candidates to replace Damien's left hand...and the Black Mist donated copiously (and this time the similarity to DKS's latest is coincidence!).
