  1. And of course we also have the last of the Dickens Carol Ghosts. Another option for your 12 Days of Reaper qualifying purchase.

  2. I was painting down to the wire on this one, so unfortunately she didn't make it into the Twelves Days graphic. But here she is to help you decide if this is the free holiday mini you'd like with qualifying 12 Days purchases. I have a few WIP pics and hope to put up a blog post with some info on painting this type of OSL some time, but wanted to get the pictures out ASAP.

  4. The last new 12 Days mini for 2019 is this adorable cat dragon who has made the poor judgement to try to land in the Christmas tree. I modelled the cat's appearance off of one of my cats, who if provided with wings would make bad decisions and 'who, me?' faces about it.

  5. Here is the latest and greatest. I think I took the shades too far with this mini. I think the shades and highlights on the flesh should have been more subtle. What do you think?

  6. 'Tis the season! I posted this a while ago before is got paint on him. Santac'Laus has featured in the Christmas one-shot games I've run for the last couple of years (and this year is no exception). He's gone from villain to lovable (but weird) friend, who rides a manta-ray-shaped sleigh, pulled by a team of beholders. If you're one of my players, please don't read the spoiler! The hat, sack and present were all made with green stuff. The snow was made with snow powder mixed with water effects.

  7. I'm literally crying happy tears right now. After over 6 months of fighting with insurance and not having any treatment for my migraines they have finally approved the Botox again. I might be able to enjoy family time over the holidays now.

  8. Why is this giant standing this way? He is solidly planted and ready, but not on the edge of combat. He must be guarding something, expecting combat soon, but no one within striking distance. After several false starts I ended up at this magical gate, clearly not built by or for giants of his size. the Icy footprint shows he has been here a while, and went from standing position to a wide stance. Was torn between entering this into contests as vignette or single figure. (reapers large figure contest) I went with single figure as by itself it does not rea

  9. This a two part post of a modified Reaper Jade Fire Shaman. The first six photos were taken on my painting table: The second six are on The Spooky Woods photo stage...I'll bet you figured that out sans the explanation: There you have her...so to speak. I thought the two sets of photos gave a better presentation of the piece. AND I couldn't make up my mind which ones to use...it's that imminent senility thing once more.

  10. Well, that happened. Watching a tutorial on painting blonde hair, and the hair looked familiar, but I didn't know why. So I asked Mum who said Farrah Fawcett, and then added that she would "totally have gone gay for her, at that age". Thanks Mum, I was running low of Awkward, nice of you to give me some. I love Mum.

  11. Some people might call it Minivember, though technically I had 23 days of vacation and just wanted to paint a mini every day. Some were finishing older minis, some entirely new, some were the size of a nailclipping. I present, my Minivember.

  12. So I had a first interview last Friday for a remote site fly-in-fly-out job in Nunavut Canada. It went very well and I should expect a second interview next week with the plant director. Job position will be very similar to my previous job, and the work conditions will also be extremely similar. Reliability engineer, gold mining plant, mine camp, far north (63°N, subarctic climate), 12 hour days, plenty of perks (top notch insurance, company stock, pension fund). *IF* everything goes well, I'd likely start next January after the holidays (pending background checks, medi

  13. Alright, WHO STOLE MY AVATAR?!?!?? Also, it snowed here a little. Like 13 inches little. It's still coming down. For another 12 hours or so if the forecast is to be believed. I hated to, but I called out today. Hoping that the plows have time to get out and do some snow removal before I need to drive to work tomorrow.

  14. Finally. I tried yesterday evening and now it's lunchtime here. Glad it's working again. Upcoming Friday - Signing the Concept Contract for buying the house. Dec. 10 - Mortgage talks. We need clarifaction from the bank at Jan. 24th and if that passes we will get the House at March 2nd. Trying to sell the other house then as quick as possible. I'm fighting the Brainweasels.

  16. Mostly I keep them. But occasionally I'll paint some as gifts, some will end up being taken by my wife for the Kingdom of Mousdom (her desk at work), and my players usually get to keep their character miniature when they die horribly. A few weeks ago a coworker asked if I would sell some of my minis to her husband for his DnD game. I brought a few boxes of random figures over to their place and he picked out a few older, poorly painted figures I was willing to let go for very little money. He ended up giving me $100 for 7 miniatures. Not a living wage when considering the profit versus time in

  17. Short Wart's Cohort Mort Being a band of bony retribution soon to cross the Brandywine and come a-knocking on little round doors under the hills. Most of these skeleton minis are from the same second hand purchase where I got the zombies that were featured a few week ago. I got the incomplete undead mammoth off Ebay several years ago, and Short Wart himself is an Oathsworn Halfling Necromancer. All minis have been given 3D printed bases, most of them 25mm. There are a lot of pics beneath, although some are distictly unfocussed, as if a dark power did not wis

  18. Hi everyone, sorry I haven't posted in a while. I mostly post on the Reaper Facebook Page and Twitter now. I still check out everything on the "Show off" every day, though! Here is my most recent tartan project. This is Aeslin sculpted by Sandra Garrity. My customer is a fan of the show (and books) Outlander and this figure was chose specifically for it's potential for painting a tartan. The tartan that was picked is the Wilson Ancient Hunting Tartan. It has these very thin quadruple orange lines that give it a very interesting blue/green/orange colour shift look. I was onl

Hope it will all be accepted in time and that we can sell this house soon. If all goes well, then somewhere in march/april we will live in our new home. AND! Dedicated Hobby Room!!! 22. Hello forum family, I wanna share with ya all my most recent fatigue: Marthragul! I was in doubt if painting it into a realistical Earth dragon, or something more colourful... The Magenta won! :D And I chose to don't cut corners, so no drybrush, no washes, no feathering... just dear, old layering, shading and glazing ...cause I'm a fast painter, as you know And, yeah! This took me almost a month of at least two hours per day... basically I hate this dragon now Enough talking, time for pics :D I really hope you like it, if you have any question do not hesitate :) As always

This site is indeed a big part of my online life. Now bring back the avatars for those who miss them and we're all set to go. I'm waiting now, the girls are all getting their hair cut and then I can go cook and we'll have dinner. Sauerkraut!

  25. My plans to post to this thread and post the new thread for December got thoroughly derailed by the Forum patching or whatever was going on this weekend. So I am calling an audible here. The December GTKY thread will begin on Dec 3rd. Meanwhile, please do as your next Quisitioner is going to do, and carry on posting about armies, characters, and monsters for one more day. This was a three-day Question! missing day or not. This is unofficially-officially November 32nd (that regular calendar is just a suggestion really...) and the question is

  28. So, I've waffled back and forth on whether or not to post this. On the one hand this is the first massively large miniature I've painted. And as such, the mistakes are numerous. I mean, there's a lot of really simple stuff I should have done throughout the entire process to make it look better. In addition, it took me quite some time to finish. So much so that I think my style has changed enough so that what was painted first doesn't really go with what I finished last night. Also, my basing and sculpting skills are still woefully lacking, so she probably won't get a proper base fo

  30. A search for 'holiday' should get you all the ones that are only sold at this time of year, including the paint set. Searches on 'Christmas' include Sophies and a few other items. https://www.reapermini.com/search/holiday My understanding is that Reaper people are in discussion about whether and if so when to make the 12 Days figures available separately. They will not run out. They're metal figures. They're cast in house so they'll just make more as needed!

  32. Avatar check. Yep, that looks like a fluffy kitty with top hat and monocle and a lit quellazaire. Also, can I have some snow? Work isn't going to close unless there's a life-threatening amount of snow and I need to save my paid leave for PAX and Christmas. I was promised snow but the Weather Service lied. There's no snow, there isn't even ice.

  34. Yeah. So far, I think there's only one Sophie I want, Bourbon Street Sophie, so unless there's any I want duplicates of, it won't amount to many freebies. I did notice that although the re-released Sophies are from the 015xx range originally, it seems that most of the 014xx Sophies are also in stock... So if anyone needs the 'flat' tree ornament...

  36. The $50 minimum order was an unhappy surprise. Maybe they thought people would be stocking up on Sophies? Like a lot of folks I wish I could just buy the figures I want. At least I don't have to worry about what day to place an order this time. I'm not sure people at reaper know what's going on, either.

  37. WOW! 21 pages while I was gone and so much going on. New jobs, Thanksgiving, Pezler blowing up the forum... Special congrats to @Glitterwolf, your new home will be beautiful! Wehad a great cruise, my Nephew's family, Sister in Law and my Niece in Law's mom, it was a very nice time. A couple stops in Mexico, beautiful weather, Thanksgiving was weird, normally our house is full, but this year would have just been us, so it was good to be with family. My Wife's Dad passed away last year and his birthday was then, so it would have been very sad for her. Got to spoil the Great-kids, and we wer

  38. Expansions: Brinewind & Extras - I like almost this entire expansion. The minis are characterful and look like fun to paint, and I can use a bunch of it in games. Dungeon Dwellers - Solid, workaday miniatures with enough sculpting interest to get me to paint them. Daimyo - I like almost everything here, too, but not as much as the two above. I even like several of the dinosaurs, though this is the only genre where I do. Dark Depths - On the edge here. There's stuff that I might be able to use, but I'm just not much inspired by anything. Chronoscope - I like mo

  42. A productive afternoon while some much needed rain storms rolled across the landscape. Firstly, the base with some columns added. The bases of the columns are some upended wooden doll’s house food bowls I found in a dollar store, while the columns themselves are some grooved carpentry dowels. And then there’s the fly itself. I’ve removed the wings temporarily to make assembly and painting a bit easier. The fly is depicted in the published adventure art as being a huge black beast with a grate between the eyes and spines down the back. A gout of flame and smoke

  43. SO with the discussion on care & feeding of brushes, & I do love my brushes, I decided to spring for some Winsor & Newton Brush Cleaner & Restorer. While I was placing my order the thought of the polymer clay mushrooms I watched being crafted on YouTube came, unbidden to mind. Ergo a couple of blocks of Sculpey, some sculpting picks, AND an Amaco Polymer Clay & Craft Oven rounded out the order: It was a Martha Stewart moment.

  44. Inspired by the weekend question, I took some pictures of the army thus far and found that posting it in the question thread would be excessive, also that I didn't have an ongoing thread for my largest painted army so here it is. The plan is to get my Shelf of Incompleteion cleared off then work on reinforcements for this alongside my Old School Undead army. Here we have the Pumpkin construct unit led by a Storybook Witch from Old Glory. I have 3 more of her, but the bag only came with the one flight stand and the Reaper ones I have don't fit, when I get around that, they'll form th
