  1. This is 03867: Aletheia Edair, Duelist, a mini sculpted by Gene Van Horne. The WIP thread is over here. This figure was originally going to be the first in a quirky series: "If the Sailor Senshi were playing AD&D, what characters would they choose?" Minako Aino, of course, would choose an elf bard. A duelist is close enough. However, calamity struck and this figure has been relegated to draft status. (In case you're curious, I have possible figures picked out for all of the Inner Senshi now.) What calamity? She fell off her base, into my wet palette. Blue and

  3. Hi again, fine folks! So just finished this one last night, last part of course the shield, which took me a while to figure out, but who doesn't need a good squirrel shield? Anyhoos, hope you enjoy!

  4. I've had this cthulhish model from Fenryll Miniatures for ages. I used to call it Kentucky Fried Cthulhu and tried to paint it 3 or 5 times and somehow never liked the effect. Paints on it probably weigh more than the miniature itself. It also lost one foot somewhere along the way. I decided to recycle it for my new project, Swampstalkers, which is my army for the Kings of War game. One evening for painting, one for the base and here it is.

  6. I used Adaptive skin to convert the mannequin to a mesh and then proceeded to use Move, Inflate, DamStandard, and Trim Dynamic brushes to create the base forms of the Blue Drake.

  7. So I have project to give guns to all of the goblins made in bones material. I like to use them as my time travelling goblin horde. These three were the latest to get a quick conversion and paint job. Sincerest apologies to Bobby Jackson who I believe sculpted these. I started on these guys because I've recently been wanting to try some camouflage ideas. The guy on the right I think I went a little to close on some of the colors used. But the wizard character's cloak turned out alright. From tabletop distances it looks halfway decent. Coinciden

  8. They're not pretty but they get the point across. It was my first attempt at really pushing myself for speed. I cranked these out in about 4 paint sessions over 2 weeks with a goal of "not terrible table top". My DnD friends are in for a little surprise (many little green surprises).... More shameful and detailed photos can be found on my blog. Cheers, HMP

  9. There's a special feeling discovering that something you loved as a kid is no longer good to your taste buds. With beers the sweet has to be completely removed if the fruit flavor comes through without sweetness the complexity makes for a beautiful combination Please try and stay out of the gutters. There's a lot of us in there and it's getting crowded

  12. Fun fact: members of the spider genus Selenops are expert gliders and have been documented steering themselves towards trees and such after being dropped from a height of at least 24m. They may not weigh 2kg. But they have all of your standard neuro and hemotoxins with which to paralyze and liquify the insides of their prey. Also, once they are on a tree their camouflage makes them practically invisible! Just ignore that crawling sensation on your back. I'm sure it's nothing.

  13. Took my wife out for Valentine's dinner tonight at a place out of town which does some gourmet meals with local produce. We had scallops with figs, smoked and sous vide lamb, pork tenderloin with saffron poached pear and panna cotta with berries and pine nuts... Sorry, we forgot to take a photo of the mains.

  17. Ignoring any of the Lovecraftian horrors, that would be most of my creations from the Bones Mashup class during ReaperCon. The hill giant touched the cursed wand, and is transformed (or is still transforming) into an abomination.

  18. Well today was interesting. It has been a long time since I have seen someone take aim before shooting themselves in the foot. I was on a call today with a plant and the VP's of EH&S and manufacturing and the site leader stepped right up and said: 'we couldn't install the safety interlocks because the reactor was needed for production' You could hear the bags of popcorn opening as those not involve were sitting back to watch the show. Because whatever the meeting was supposed to be about, it was going to become a lecture on how safety is paramount. Definitely an entertainin

  19. So I’ve been burning through resin for the past few weeks. Been focusing on busts as my collection of unpainted minis is... impressive. I should be painting those, but... Other than my airbrush exploding on me (paint bubbling up through the trigger), this guy hasn’t taken much time yet. Got this from Fotis Mint on Patreon along with a bunch of other ones. Printed with a mix of regular clear Elegoo resin mixed with clear red ABS-like Elegoo, about 70/30. Primed with Vallejo black primer then base coated with Reaper Coal Black (my new favourite black!!) with

Also, anyone traveling the wilderness should beware...........the duckbunny. Also, I will be very disappointed if @Froggy the Great has nothing to say on the subject matter.

  26. In the "Deus Vult!" diorama, crusaders represent a sect of Deus's minions in combat with a group of shadowrunners. This is a draft to test out a paint job for the crusaders. I'm aiming for a tabletop paint job. This draft is built around using an olive green armor as the primary color for the armor. I see the armor as being composed as plastics and/or ceramics, as they are both more effective against firearms and in greater supply in the blockaded Renraku Arcology. Here's the figure after the basecoats are done: (click on the pictures for larger versions)

  28. It would seem I have much to answer for. This weekend question has numerous moving parts. The first thing I did was look to see if anybody out there has attempted to draw-paint a Troll Dragon/Dragon Troll. Things turned up in that image search, so Yes. Out of the first batch or so, I liked this critter the best: The artist is Tomek Larek, (I think. Wretched Pinterest appears to have grabbed a lot of his work... ...making it hard to be sure.) But I think that dragon would fit in very well in the world of MALEFACTUS. Rather than do a huge long post my plan is to have

  29. Question Feb. 13th. From now on you can only collect/paint minis from one race/army/faction, which one will it be and why? a Lizardmen army led by dragons, with giants as heavies. I will miss humans, but at least I can finish painting my "lizardmen in the style of..." series. I don't always enjoy the process of painting dragons, but when I get a good one its all I can think about. One of my dragons is named "Insomnia" because I kept getting/staying up in the night and working on it. it was 90% painted between 9pm-6am. and Giants - this allows m

  33. Hoo-boy... This comes up just as I’ve been thinking about picking a faction for Age of Sigmar, since my co-workers are getting into AOS and AoS:Warcry. I’ve been eyeing the Gloomspite Gitz, ‘cause goblins are just so fun to paint, and come with so many varied and entertaining sculpts, you could never get tired of them! So if I picked a new faction/race to go with forever and ever, it would be goblins... ...But if you go by what I’ve already bought and collected the most of any single faction, then it would have to be... the Empire! 36. I would - as part of an Eberron LARP, if I were playing a drow. That would be excellent for setting a scene. (Though I would make a terrible drow - I am just not at all elf like in my build.) The Auld Grump - Julie or Jenny would do better as the drow character - female, and thinner than I am. Should I point out that it would be over $40, so you would be getting one of those free minis? The Auld Grump - probably not....

  38. Wow, I just finished a project that was several years in the making. I had a WW1 Colt pistol, by the dates it certainly made it to the Front. But they would be rebuilt in arsenals many times so mine was not correct and I spent many years acquiring the correct parts. Today I received the hardest one to find a correctly marked slide that has not been modified.

Paint used: Reaper Bones 9438 Tempest Grey ^I figured I'd start with a grey because, well, it's easier to work with than black is! And as for the flames, I'm thinking I'll wind up going with 9407 Lantern Yellow, 73416 Photonic Orange, and 93414 Crimson Red, but that's another day. I was planning on g

Totally had forgotten this one had been ordered, namely because this was ordered months ago, and the distributor never replied to my local game store's inquiry about it. Already have half of it broken out of the cardstock, and will be assembling it this weekend I suspect. I'm so going to have to get some sort of different terrain to add into the mix for when we build our board, or at least modify some of the holo-ads, because boy do they start looking similar after a little while! 45. Well, today was annoying. One appointment went well. The next appointment was an example of me being a complete idiot. I didn’t bring any of the required paperwork, because I didn’t read the thing they gave me. Like an idiot. I thought we finally received my husband's last w2 in the mail, and got all excited, but it turned out to just be the stupid healthcare thing. Then I found some charges on my husband’s bank account that we didn’t do. So, yeah. At least we get our couch tomorrow. Supposedly.
