Wow, I have spent many years collecting vintage guns and there was one left on my "Grail Gun List" of 5 top guns. But the way prices have been rising, I had begun to doubt I would ever be able to find one that I could afford. Nicknamed the "Triple Lock" at the turn of the last century, Smith and Wesson decided to show they could build the finest revolver in the world. And they did. But today I actually won an auction for one at a much lower price than expected! Very impatiently waiting for it to arrive from Texas! BTW, the completed list was as follows: 1. S&W Triple Lock, the New Century 2. Colt Single Action Army 3. P-08 Luger 4. c96 Mauser Broomhandle 5. Thompson Submachinegun22 points

The forge The smithy Gonna retile the roof, add the missing plank on the shelter, and put a barrel to catch rainwater under that angle on the shelter, and replace the MDF forge with the plastic Mantic one. Grump didn't just give me a birthday present, he gave me a project, just when I NEEDED one! Too bad it ends in smoke and dragon's fire20 points

That was an interesting box of stuff. A MDF kit for a blacksmithy. A MDF kit for a ruined version of the same blacksmithy. And the Terrain Crate for the blacksmith's forge. And a dragon. That tells a story, right there. Wizkids Gargantuan White.15 points

In honor of everyone who wonders how do I make that colour again, researchers have rediscovered how to make a blue from medieval manuscripts https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/folium-medieval-ink?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=atlas-page15 points

So we didn't get the inch of snow that was forecast for last night, but it's still below freezing out there an the wind is howling... Took the kids out yesterday for a walk and some Pokemon Go as their playtime outside and we all came back frozen. And completely unrelated, I noticed last night while painting that I need more Reaper paints... I have a decent selection of earthy colours, flesh tones and metallics, but none of the good vibrant primary/secondary colours. I'm sure no one will notice if another box with minis and paint arrives at the house, especially since the last one with survival kits was given away as a gift.14 points

Good morning! Time to go kill Sarevok. My wife got the old D&D computer game collection (Baldur's Gate 1&2 and all expansions, Icewind Dale, Planescape:Torment, and probably something else that I'm forgetting right now) for Xbox a little while ago, and we unpacked it and set it up back in February. I've been spending time playing through BG1 again, and I'm almost at the final battle.13 points

The wings on this dragon are really beautiful. And the pose is great. I don't generally pay a whole lot of attention to what the color of a dragon is supposed to be, but this is a KILLER white! They NAILED ot!13 points

My brother has pulled through coronavirus and he’s okay. We’ve been trying to keep in touch with all our relations but that branch of the family is unbelievably terrible at communication so I only just learned he came down with COVID-19 some weeks ago and it was really scary. He’s almost 50, but he bicycles a lot, is skinny as a rail and is in generally good cardio health so maybe that helped? I honestly hope all you folks are okay.13 points

So I finished a story last night, first in over a year. It clocked in at 7k words, literally twice what I expected when I started and before I really figured out what all was going on in it. Kind of started almost as an exercise built around a silly play on another book's title, but it kinda turned into something better, I think. I was able to subtly pull the strings on the main character's grief and anxiety, everything bleeds in together, and it all happens right there on the page in front of the reader without having to heavy-hand it at all. I'm quite sure I remain no Chekhov or Cheever, let me say, lest anyone think I'm doing too much of my own tooting, and still may not anyone ever read it and give a flip, but I can say without hesitation that it's shaping into one of the finest things I've written, in that way. I turned right around and trimmed a thousand words back out of it last night, which was an immediate improvement, but it took me 'til midnight, so then in a bid to keep my NaPoWriMo streak intact I stayed up entirely too late and wound up writing a near-nonsense poem about old trees contemplating anger and war, inspired by a couple shots and some dialogue in the pilot episode of King of the Hill, which popped up on Hulu and of course grabbed my immediate attention. But then I had a second full night's sleep in a row, having somehow perhaps begun to acclimate to sleeping in the chair with all the light streaming in in the mornings, so I got up much too late. But it's all right. Feeling pretty good about things. Good morning to everyone except tl;dr, I'm a nitwit but wrote some things12 points

I've finally glued down those vintage 1984 TSR Indiana Jones figures to more stable bases. Priming next ... I'm hearing friends elsewhere lament the shortage of Nuln Oil.12 points

Mwa ha ha ha ha, ordered some more paint!! ...Eeeeeeeep on the fact it's not just to dip my toes into another company's range, but also, dare I say... To try the most heinous, fiendish thing of all.... Colour mixing.12 points

There’s Laril Silverhand. She’s an elf, but you could cut off her ears (I’m pretty sure that’s a hate crime though).11 points

Well appears I need to get some rabbit/deer repellent to spray on the fence line. Stop little Thumper from digging holes there. I couldn't find her this morning, so I peaked over the fence & lo & behold there she was!!! I found the hole she dug. It was a part where the fence didn't come all the way to the ground, so she only had to dig a small shallow hole & she was back over. Luckily she came back through a existing hole after shaking her treat box. All morning thou, I've been out there trying to plug up potential spots with paver stones we had in the backyard. Persistent little twerp!!11 points

Yep! I had no plans for a white, but I like the combo of whole blacksmithy, followed by ruined blacksmithy and dragon. If I don't use it for Pathfinder then I am sure I can whip something up for Frostgrave or Rangers of Shadowdeep. The Terrain Crate forge is nice too. Grump gave me a birthday box I can USE!11 points

My understanding of this one, from an article I read at the start of lockdown that was an interview with a virologist who specialized in coronavirii, is that that SARS-CoV2 is very similar genetically to the original SARS, hence the name. Its big difference, and the reason why its so much more of a problem than the original SARS, is that it has a few key mutations that make it both more easily transmitted and more capable of infecting people. Also mentioned in that article was how, until the original SARS and then MERS later, coronavirus research was considered a backwater because the worst you'd get from them was the common cold. There wasn't much incentive, or need, for people to specialize in them because they were very mild diseases. So both funding and personnel weren't there to do much. And even after SARS their numbers didn't exactly swell, though they did go up. Pretty sure that part is gonna change soon enough. 3 new and rather serious respiratory diseases in the same family of virus in the span of 2 decades, one of which caused a near-global shutdown? Yea, there's gonna be funding in the future and I have a feeling that more than a handful of the current college crop are going to start looking at virology specializing in coronavirii for their grad school.11 points

I just handed SWMBO a small box acquired at WalMart on my weekly foray. She says "What is this?" and I replied "Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans" with a twinkle in my eye. She loves Jelly Beans . I did caution her that "Every Flavor means, every flavor." and explained about ear wax flavor. She was happily enjoying her minuscule box of goodies as I started to prepare dinner. GEM11 points

Hi all This is my first time posting on here. I recently returned to the hobby following a 10 year hiatus, and this is the fourth miniature I have painted since returning. I'd really love some feedback or constructive criticism as I seek to improve. The miniature is 'Lars Ragnarson, Viking', the base was scratch build using plaster of paris and sculptamold and the eagle is from Reapers 'Wizards Familiars pack VIII'. I wanted to give a snowy mountain peak feel.10 points

You probably agree with this, but the problem that I see with replacing circuit cards is that it often leads to lazy troubleshooting, and repairs by rote. Techs just start getting into the habit of trying different circuit cards, and memorizing which symptoms fix which problems, rather than understanding why it worked. Good troubleshooting skills, though, apply across all sorts of systems. Even though I learned my troubleshooting skills on electronics, I quickly found that they applied to the water and soap systems in car washes just as well as electronics. And later on, I found they applied to networking as well. if there is a steady supply of parts and systems are well documented, repairs by rote are quick, easy and yes, can be more economic. A lot of car wash techs, managers and owners can do this part easily. But I've found that it doesn't take much to stump them. On a tangent, with what I've seen of people doing repairs by rote, it makes the whole concept of WH 40k's Techpriests very believable to me.10 points

In case of emergency, Army Painter's Dark Tone Ink is a good match for Nuln Oil, and their Strong Tone matches Agrax Earthshade.10 points

Woah, slow down there... They're all unpainted and unassembled. I have the joy of putting them all together still and painting them. But first are the 3D printed ones I just got in and already started on. Worked on Kornovik a bit tonight, but was spectacularly unmotivated. So I painted the base a bit, touched up a few spots that had stray spots of paint, and... then left it alone so I didn't elf it up. Really reaching the "done with it" stage. After I am, in fact, done with it, I'm going to do a total reset of my painting tray in preparation for working on my battlefleet gothic ships. Hope everyone had a good Earth Day! Night! I am of the firm opinion that kobolds are little dog-like people and have nothing to do with dragons. And anyone telling you different needs to play a game of Kobolds Ate My Baby. So I say fill the box with dog treats (What? They're baked, you can make them in the oven).9 points

Pffft. No Kobold can resist a Stroopwafelcake. If one resists, simply add a scoup of vanilla ice next to it.9 points

Well, silver lining is that at least I have job security. Being one of those trained before the changes and managing to have tours of duty that only improved my technical knowledge. Though I have fallen behind on quite a bit of the computerized changes. Many more function are switching from hardware processing to computerized processing and virtual servers. Still the upside is you replace a circuit card or two (or switch to the redundant card already installed) and you are back up and running. Of course the flip side is occasionally thing go corrupt and you have to spend a couple of hours re-imaging drives to come back online.9 points

If you are going to start doing your own mixing a Color Chart and a Color Wheel will be useful tools and decrease the learning curve considerably. GEM9 points

Well hell, sorry for breaking the thread lol. Lunatic ravings part deux: brekkies edition Fried eggs for the first time in a decade. Mostly to avoid dirtying a bowl for the scrambling. Thought I overcooked them, but they weren't bad. Of course, now I worry they were undercooked. Though I don't see how. Anxiously waiting to see if I get sick with salmonella poisoning lulz.8 points

I now have 31 of the 48 Heartbreaker Magic: The Gathering miniatures. All but three or four are still in their blister packs. I also now have all but one of the first 21 TSR Endless Quest books (missing #15), as well as two or three of the later ones. interestingly, I also came across a Spanish-language release of Knight of Illusion, called Caballero de Illusiones... Lately, Jack and his stimulus check (after paying off bills and procuring heating oil, lol) have been rampaging across EvilBuy... I've jumped on a bunch of really good deals on stuff I was looking for, and added a bunch more figures to my collection of the Ral Partha 2nd Ed. AD&D figures as well as picking up a bunch of Dark Sword and resin figures. A great deal of it will be showing up tomorrow, so I'll be taking pics of All The Things to gloat, lol. On the down side, the five sets of really cool galaxy-swirl dice I ordered are coming by bottle-tossed-in-the-ocean from China, and won't be here until shortly before the heat-death of the universe... I think I saw his dad on the cover of MAD Magazine once.... There were some interesting figures in that range, lots of character to them. Think I still have one or two of them around somewhere.8 points

Use it as material component in a Monster Summoning XII spell, so that we can summon a Max Hit DIce Shadow Dragon, and then we send it to hunt down or enslave those pesky Kobolds. Then our Dragon-led Kobold army cleans out the dungeon for us!7 points

Sounds good. There are a few pointers for when you retire and suddenly are at home all the time. Your partner has been doing things her way for years while you were at work, do not try to "improve" that routine, ask if you can help and follow your partner's instructions. Make sure both of you get some ME time, everybody needs his/her space every now and then. Do something nice together every now and then. Don't take each other's presence for granted either, show appreciation for what the other does. Also, congrats on completing the gun wishlist! You're right! There wasn't an incentive to get a vaccin anymore when Sars and Mers faded out and turned out to be more of a new flu thing. The Covid-19 has one benefit, it doesn't seem to mutate that much, scientists are convinced that once a vaccin is found it will be all that's needed. Several sources claim to be on the right track and expect to develop a vaccin in the near future ( either end this year or somewhere next year) let's hope they can make it so. Your biggest weapon against the Covid-19. Wash your hands often and well. Do not touch your face when you've touched anything that can contain the virus. So when in a supermarket, at work or whatever, if you toch something that hasn't been cleaned or is touched by many people, wash your hands before touching your face/eating/drinking. It's the best weapon. Also sneeze in handkerchiefs when not available in your elbo, not your hands. Stay safe and healthy!7 points
