  1. When quarantine started one of the first things I did was go buy what I needed to follow a bunch of the Miniature Monday videos. I've only been buying the minis I liked or could use so most months I didn't do all the videos. This is my first round- the January kit!

  2. Today I learned that partially painted minis, if left unattended for a long enough time, will begin to engage in criminal activity.... My desk is now apparently a 1:25 scale chop shop. Not contenting themselves with a 32 Victoria that has languished in incompletness longer than they have, the minis have also disassembled a diecast 32 3 window coupe and are repainting it, I'm assuming they've also changed the VIN number as well... They are also bewitching the body and fenders for some reason....

  3. For those that are interested: I just got my latest CT results and the results were positive. My tumor is stable after an initial reduction of 30% last quarter, so the medication continues to work and there is no sign of progression (spreading to other areas) At least one mystery has been solved: for the last few months I have been getting little blisters on my hands and forearms. I thought that I was just burning my self with oil, I am not usually the most cautious person when cooking and spatter is not that strange but lately I have been taking great care not to ge

  4. I'm being a totally responsible adult. Which in this case translates to: I had a root beer float right when I got home rather than real dinner. (real dinner is cooking though, since I've already established I'm a totally responsible adult ) Huzzah! --OneBoot :D

  11. Finally killed the migraine yesterday! I feel much better today. Very glad about that because I have a lot to do. Need to hobby. Haven't had the motivation for many reasons. Losing motivation on Ma'al now because players aren't going to see it in person until who knows when since the group is not meeting August 1st now. Pretty bummed about that. Might get upstairs and paint the GS vines a different green today if I feel up to it though.

  14. Steak! I prefer steak over tacos or burritos any day. Although I love both. Well my rubber sheet arrived, the liquid rubber and geotex bandages are expected to arrive friday, so I will be repairing the isolation thingie above the cellar portal this weekend. Probably also going to demolish the cabin/garden shack because the carpenter will soon build the new one. I'm not happy with having to repair the isolation thing, stupid me cut into the rubber and foam to create more garden and then realized it was the isolation above the cellar portal roof. Not my thing

  16. Hi Gang, dug up these two tough guys from my box of childhood minis. One was my attempt as an eleven year old using Testors model paints, got so frustrated I didn't paint again for thirty-five years. Feeling inspired after tackling my Reaper starter kits and recent Battle Troll. Got isopropyl at the drug store. Let's see how it goes... :)

  17. Dirty? Please, that was the way to hotdog for us growing up. We didn't need no fancy hotdog buns, gimmie a slice of wonderbread. Awesome that the migrane is gone. Wish I could help with the hobby motivation, but I've been quite distracted lately.... That's fantastic news. Best of luck! I mean... it looks like a sad pita... but sometimes mystery sauce is the best. I'd try it probably... there's a place near my wife's work that serves 'New York style halal food' that we like for lunch. They make these bowls, with seasoned rice,

  19. Took a coronavirus test today, swab and antibodies. No symptoms, but son is going to college next month and that’s something required. The swab was definitely weird. I handled it well, but the poor lady in front sounded painfully orgasmic. Son took it in stride but did not like it. We joked that we should get in line and pretend we liked it so much we wanted to go again. The antibody test is for my own curiosity. I am very curious and hopeful it cones back positive. It would mean that weird two day span of fatigue back in December has a cause. I can dream I suppose.

  21. It's grey and raining today which is wonderful! We needed rain and many of the storms of the past month have missed us. The whole garden got watered. I'll be able to go out later without melting, although the bugs will be horrid.

  22. Life of late has become strange & stressful with a profound felling of isolation that deafness only enhances. Despite all that I enjoy the hot weather, & simply being alive & creative.

  23. I went for a walk last night and it was a Platonically perfect summer evening. The insect songs, the heat lightning in the distance, the breeze, and the temperature were an idyllic combination.

  24. I solved this by feeding the deer. I take my copper fire pit and put it about 20 feet from the bird feeder in the winter. I fill it with whole kernel, shelled corn. The deer prefer it to the bird food, and it costs 1/4 as much per bag. I also attracted new species with it like ducks and jays. So now I get to watch the deer come down and eat almost every evening. The flocks of migrating ducks are the best; we had well over a hundred mallards all trying to get theirs a few times. It was quite a sight to see my whole yard covered in ducks, like some weird Farside cartoon.

  29. I'm overall a "meh!" kind of guy regarding summer. What I like about summer: I enjoy wearing lighter clothing. It's quite comfortable. I like opening up the windows for some fresh air. Long, bright days. The best family events happen in summer. Nature is in it's maximum state of expression. What I don't like about summer: The extra heat. I get hot easy and the need of external devices to cool off. It's much noisier. It's motorcycle season; large pickups hauling their boat/trailer; there's always someone cutting grass or using power tool

  32. So another few hours of painting brings me to this: It turns out the national flower of Iran is called a red rose - but does not look like the ones i am used to. It happens to be just the color I want. worked some on blending the clouds, but still more to do. I'm pretty sure this takes the figure into the 10+ hours of work category, which I normally only get to for dragons or contest pieces, but the last Giant I gid was closer to 25 hrs, but that was intended for ReaperCon, this one is just to work on techniques. I accidentally posted these pictures on FB, with a p

  33. Thing is, that box could probably make me 5 lunches easily. And it comes out to only $12.50 for that? It's $2.50 a meal. Incredibly affordable. Course, that's not eating the whole thing at one sitting. I'm always surprised when visiting Japan that since I am not a big fan of fish or fish flavored food, my other options are mostly fried foods. If anybody asks my opinion, Japanese are skinny because of the walking around, not what they eat. Family took us to a famous restaurant to try their specialty dish, and what came out looked like someone packed a gallon coffee can w

  35. Yes, actually. We have AC for days when it’s too hot to even consider going out, and when we do go out it’s fun to watch Sephy play and explore the world. She recently did two things she was scared of: she petted a dog on her own and she stepped into the lake on her own. She’s such a brave girl, I’m so proud of her

  37. It's been mostly bleh, like the rest of the year. It's been hot and humid mostly, we need rain badly, despite the humidity all the rain seems to miss us. Only good part about the weather is that without the rain the grass doesn't need mowing, but it's also starting to die. I have some things I want to spray prime/varnish too, but again, not possible with the heat and humidity (don't have an airbrush/respirator combo either). Also not really enjoying isolating myself from the other people in my house, since I am the one who goes out to do all of the errands and people in my town rea

  38. Summer here has been unusually dull, deary and windy, even by our standards. The 5 mile travelling restriction has only recently been lifted and my local park is absolutely inundated with people that have no idea of how social distancing works. That said, I've spent a lot of time outdoors or sitting watching the bird feeders. Apart from the ongoing issue with one particular squirrel, we've been inundated with goldfinches, siskins and a juvenile woodpecker has been visiting the nut feeder every morning. That sounds like an awesome little survivor! We h

  39. Well, my summer trip to Florida did not include trips to Legoland and/or Disneyworld as they usually do, so my feet and overall exhaustion are nowhere near as bad, but I mostly have had a middling to boring summer. Working from home means I'm able to paint minis, but also to play my PS2, so I'm getting less painting done than I might have if I was painting at work normally. My son is home all the time, which means less time to just do my own thing, but does mean more time with him. Overall, I'd say this summer's been mostly a wash.

  41. Two sentences. Two things I had to look up. Fun fact learned: TheWeatherChannel•Com firmly believes there is no such thing as heat lightning. I would be lucky to avoid being some high-level Paladin, wanna be griffonrider’s, creature sidekick. If I was a hooman in this fantasy realm, probably I’d have a pack horse. Why did no one pick horse? Given enough money I would live in perpetual winter by crossing the Equator twice a year. So, no.

On the left are a unit of Imperial Death Troopers. On the right are the 4 figures from the Imperial Specialists box: Imperial Comms Technician, Imperial Officer, FX-9 Medical Droid and R4 Astromech Droid.

  47. Hard to say, it's been a weird one, and I'm typically not much for summer. We haven't had much in the way of 30+ Celsius temperatures though, so I'm rather thankful about that, even if it's been waaay too cloudy in the evening (perfectly clear during day, full cloud cover with rain most of the evening)
