With the sunlight starting to take on a certain tone, and a faint echo whispers of Autumn's return upon the night winds, it is time I got around to trying to have some reinforcements ready to greet the Great Pumpkin.... A modest start, I added a 50/50 mix of Dirty Bone/Bronzed Skin to the white areas on both, and got Dita blocked in with Pure Black.

With the unit approaching almost done, I got started on their movement tray. Yesterday morning cut out a square of heavy cardboard, and began adding some scrap insulation bits to the edges. Having given it time to dry, I finished the edges, and tomorrow will be fun with wood putty...

Mixed some Vallejo Field Grey in with the Rotting Wood this time. Also put down Ebony Flesh on the boots and shield straps. Moved on the these two since they were the closest to being finished. Agrax Earthshade on the base, the halberd wielder got some Harvest Brown and Black Wash on what's left of his hair, and P3 Armor wash on the metals. Drybrushed some Orange Brown over the armor to get some corrosion going and drybrushed some Pavement Grey over the wood. Covered the armor and metal bits with Brown Wash to blend the orange in a bit. Now all they need is the blue/green wight blade treatment, sealing and basing. So two more for the side table!

Started off with a bit of shield work. A couple layers of Dragon Red. Went over the interior with Rotting Wood, then attempted to drybrush some Ancient Bark in there. Went on heavier than planned, so I'm going to attempt toning it back down with some more thinned layers of Rotting Wood. Normally I'd just drybrush a grey over the black, but I thought I'd try to branch out a little. I'll get back to it after some more coffee.

Having cornered and subdued my painting motivation this morning, some progress has been made... Shadowed Steel/Honed Steel/Cursed Gold on the armor and weapons. Clothing shreds are based in Shadowed Stone, and here have a 50/50 mix with Stone Grey already. I'll be trying to take it up all the way to white if I can. Same warm greys as Vlad and Isabella's clothes to tie the in further, and renicient of tattered grave shrouds. Sword is Gunmetal Blue and Cursed Gold. I don't use the Gunmetal Blue very often, mostly because unlike steel colored metallics I don't have any lighter shades to layer it with and my mixing attempts haven't gone well with it. But it is a wonderful color for bringing the "ancient blade ripped out of a forgotten tomb" vibe, which is appropriate for a vampire general. Isabelle's dagger is done to match Vlad's sword, and Stormy Grey added to the lining of her dress. I still need to finish putting down black on the gemstones and finish putting the Cursed Gold on her hair bat and chalice.

************** Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.. Zafira and Suleiman stood in awe when the room filled with a colourful cloud, a large humanoid shape formed, your wish? A booming voice asked. Please go back into the lamp, Suleiman answered. The Djinn lifted an eyebrow and looked at Suleiman with disdain, I only answer to the owner of the lamp! You're not it, right? That would be me, Zafira uttered. So how does this work? I get three wishes? The Djinn sighed, not again!, Ever since that stupid fairytale was told people think that. No, you get one wish a day as long as you hold the lamp. I will not raise the dead for you, I can't make people fall in love with you and I don't kill people for you. One wish a day? That sounds great! Zafira said. Be careful, Suleiman warned her, these Djinn often twist our words, choose your words wisely when making a wish. Zafira laughed, I will, come on, what could go wrong? So, your wish? The Djinn asked. I wish to find the greatest treasure of all! Zafira said. Suleiman buried his face in his hands, Oh almighty one! What have you done? Zafira shrugged, what? Wish granted! The Djinn said and he disappeared into the lamp again. Zafira wanted to talk to Suleiman again but suddenly she found herself inside a tomb. Surrounded by gold and jewels she was excited at first, the room was filled with so much treasure even her previous find was nothing compared to this! She would be rich forever! Now, how to get it all out of here, she thought. Then she looked around, slowly it dawned to her. Where was the exit??? *************************************************

On the rare occasion that a battle is not going as planned, the Tomb Lords will instruct the Liche Priests to call upon one of the ancient monsters. Once living creatures, now mummified and in service to the Tomb Lords, these enormous beasts are nothing else than pure destruction. Any enemy who spots one of these will either run or die. More parts are being printed, archvillain miniatures, special edition.

Finally got the motivation to return to the table! Watered down some Sepia Liner almost to a tint. Decided to skip the Linen White highlight stage, as I'm happy with where they're at now. So the Miriltons are in the garage, drying from the sealer... ....and now it's time to get the armor finished on the Heartbreakers.

********** Dying Rich Abdul was thrilled, they found a small room and it was filled with treasure! It would take them days to get that out, and this was just the first small room they found. Rachid started filling a bag with gold and jewels, Abdul smiled, there's enough for everyone, but maybe you should wait to see what else we'll find? We will be busy for weeks emptying this room alone, lets move on and see if there's more! Rachid nodded, you might be right, but I'm taking this with me for now, he said putting a small golden statuette in his bag. Wait! Let me see that, Hussain said. Why? There's plenty here, why do you want this when I chose it? Rachid asked. I don't want to take it away from you, I want to see it, there's something odd about it, Hussain said. Rachid shrugged and opened the bag, took the statuette out and held it in his hand to show it to Hussain, there! See? Gold! Hussain stroke his beard, indeed, beautiful, but strange, why would someone make this? Rachid looked confused, why? what's strange about it? It's just a golden snake with jewels for it's eyes. Indeed, Hussain replied, a snake! Why? Why not Horus, Seth or Ra? Why Apophis? Who? Rachid asked. Apophis! Hussain answered, the Suneater, Enemy of the Light, Bringer of Darkness. The only times I've seen images of him, he was always killed by Ra, no one in his right mind would worship that, so why make a statuette like this? Who cares, Rachid said and put it back in the bag, it's gold! Move on my friends! Abdul said, I want to know what else we will find! Let's go, Ali! Are you drawing a map so we know where we are and can find our way out again later? I'm on it! Ali replied. The men followed the hallway and they stumbled upon a crossing, now..which way shall we go first, left or right? Let's go left Rachid said and he walked past Abdul and took the corner, a loud scream followed and the men froze in horror. Rachid? Abdul asked, it stayed silent, Abdul carefully peeked around the corner, Rachid??? He tried again, no answer. Then he saw it, just a few steps further, Rachid's body impaled on a rusty spike that protruded from the wall, it went straight through his chest, he must have triggered a trap, Hussain said. We must be careful where we walk. Poor Rachid, Ali said, picking up the bag with the golden statuette. Carefully the men walked passed Rachid. Gone was the cheerful mood from before. This better be worth it! Hussain said. Abdul nodded, I'm sure it will brother, we will be richer than a Sultan, poor Rachid was careless, we will not make the same mistake! Watch your step and keep an eye out for anything that looks odd. ********************************************

************************ Unexpected Discovery. Abdul Sariq was delighted, he had been robbing graves and ruined temples for decades, he could live from it, but he always hoped for that one big treasure. Of course the competition was fierce, other graverobbers, adventurers, archeologists, most ruins and temples had been looted several times, they had to delve deeper and further to find anything. But now he had struck gold! A sandstorm had revealed an entrance, an undiscovered tomb or temple! He would be the first one to enter it in thousands of years, if he was lucky it belonged to a noble or even a Pharaoh buried with his treasures! Upon discovery he had quickly rounded up his men, he could trust them, two of them where his brothers and the other four had been part of his team for years. It was already getting dark, he inspected the entrance, Ali held a torch up so Abdul could figure out how to open the door. His brother Hussain came over, Hussain was a respected History teacher in Town, as such he knew a thing or two about the glyphs the Ancients used. Abdul often called upon his brother to assist him, Hussain loved the thrill of adventure and the promise of gold, his knowledge had helped them many times before. What do you think? Abdul asked, Hussain looked at the inscriptions in the door. Ali, hold that torch a little higher please! Hussain touched the door, there it is, see? there's a small knob disquised as a eye on this figure, he pressed it and the door moved a little. I think we can open it now. The men pushed against the door and they were able to open it, Ali, who had been in front of the others, almost fell down the stairs behind the door, Abdul grabbed him just in time. Ali's torch fell down and illuminated a hallway. Abdul was excited, they were the first to enter, if they were lucky the camels would be packed with gold and jewels tonight! He turned to Yussuf his younger brother, you will stay here guarding the camels and the entrance, the others will come with me, if something happens just scream and we'll come to you! One by one the group went down the stairs and entered the hallway, Look! Abdul said, pointing at some decorated vases, all intact! This bodes well, we ARE the first! Rachid looked at the walls, Hussain? What do you think this place is? Hussain shook his head, I don't know yet, it could be a tomb or a temple, maybe an administrative building, it is no ordinary house, it is something of importance, see? All these glyphs on the walls, the vases, and look torches! These pedestals have a bowl on top filled with oil, Hussain lit one with his own torch, the others followed his example every time they saw one and slowly the darkness faded. Nice! now we can see it all better, Abdul was thrilled, come on, we need to find the main chambers, I want to know what this is, and more important if there's any treasure. ***********************************************

I have these files they're part of a set with the Snake Queen. Those Snake statues and altar and all are separate and I'm busy printing the set. I also have the huge Reaper Bones Cobra. And aside from these braziers I also have two of the Nolzur ones. And now I'm tempted. You know how I use a Jungle background diorama for taking pics when I show off a Lost World mini? How about a Stygian Temple with an Egyptian Feel? Temple of Apophis/Apep? Imagine a hallway. On each side a row of these snake statues ( 2 or 3 at each side?) Braziers between them? The hallway leading to the altar and there is the huge Reaper Cobra as a statue, braziers next to it, treasure around it? Maybe a wall with hieroglyphs to surround it all? Would make a nice diorama and I could put every mini that fits into the Shifting Sands project in there for taking pics? I do admit I have more ideas like this, and I don't always get to do it. Usually space is a problem, sometimes I get distracted. This does has potential though. What do you guys and gals think?
