  1. Lysette here is a Reaper model made with their newest plastic formulation. She's got some great detail on her. This whole piece was driven by the color of her dress. I love that wine red color and I don't use it nearly often enough. That drove the choice to add the yellow notes and the deep red for the leathers, both of which worked out pretty well. I tried to add some deep burgundy to the flesh shadows (though my photography didn't pick it up all that well). I did some freehand woodgrain on the staff and figured it wouldn't be complete without some lighting effects. I think the rune

  3. Oh, I'd totally go if I could, but it's just NOT in the cards for this year. Hopefully next year. I miss you all. Well, most of you. Definitely some of you. Okay, for sure, like 2 or 3 of you are tolerable. ... ... You know what? I'll let you all guess which line(s) should be purple. COFFEE

  4. With the amount of spelling mistakes I see online (particularly in French), a dictionary (or thesaurus) would be an easy choice. A good dictionary is hefty and can take some abuse. Perfect for didactic violence!

  6. Yesterday was full on crazy. With everything planned going wrong. Equipment we were supposed to be renting to seed the neighbors field (we farm it for the lion's share of the hay crop) was returned broken. So we had to spend better than half the day securing and picking up a replacement, that is about half the size, so in addition to lost hours, we've got almost twice as much work to do, in somewhat less time. So if the weather holds, it's gonna be at least a 14 hour day for us today. Not -too- bad when we can spell each other off on the tractor, but there is talk of rain this evening. Which

  7. Trivia about June 3rd: 1889 – The first long-distance electric power transmission line in the United States was completed, running 14 miles (23 km) between a generator at Willamette Falls and downtown Portland, Oregon. 1950 – Maurice Herzog and Louis Lachenal of the French Annapurna expedition became the first climbers to reach the summit of an 8,000-meter peak. 2006 – The union of Serbia and Montenegro came to an end with Montenegro's formal declaration of independence, and a peaceful dissolution of the union.

  8. So, I acquired - over the course of earlier this year - a new computer. Somebody wanted to see a picture, so .. here you go. With bonus skeptical cat (Rajah's not convinced this was authorised). The RGB in the case is capable of more colour, but I wanted purple, so.. purple I told it to be.

  12. The last game for this year's after school game is tomorrow. The first group now has a full on mob battle going on, including a massive case of arson. On Tuesday they met the ogre fire marshal. Like the hackneys, firefighters have embraced the ogres - strong enough that two can pull the fire pumps at speed, then man the pumps when they arrive. Jorg -pronounced 'Yorg' - knows it was arson, but not why it was committed, or by whom. Captain 'Big Blue' Casey is on site. If the program continues next year, that is where it will

  16. Yah, waaaay to early for this heat. Comfortable now downstairs, but bed is upstairs & it's hot up there (currently 77 here, so upstairs is probably in the 80s at least). Looking at the forecast I see the heat breaks by the weekend, good! Fun night at the FLGS, we had a packed table (7 people) + the MtG Commander guys were packed as well. Good to see life returning to normal times again at the FLGS. I played my tabaxi bard again, I was going to bring in a tortle cleric (Bite the Bullet: tortle with maul miniature) but a friend decided to bring a dragonborn cleric, so no worries.

  20. Lots of pics here, a story's worth. Turnaround pics in spoiler areas. You should imagine Ennio Morricone playing the soundtrack, slow-paced to start with. Diegetic horse noises, hooves plodding. Scraping, dragging sound. A glow of a cigarillo and a long inhale as we slowly zoom in on the horse's master. The smoke exhales out of his nostrils, and the camera pans down to show it jetting from multiple holes in the Revenant's torso as well. The rendezvous at hand, the Revenant knocks on the coffin o

  21. One does not throw romance novels. Rather, with a heaving chest and quivering muscles, you momentarily strain with the effort to propel it through the air, gasping from the exertion, all the while with beads of sweat trickling down your sun-kissed skin...

  23. Alfred W. Crosby's "Throwing Fire: Projectile Technology through History." Just seems fitting that a book about projectiles is used as one, could probably add a whole new chapter to the book if it whacks someone hard enough.

  24. 30 yesterday half baked me fencing. Mild sunburn on my nose and neck, almost burnt the rest of my head and face. Today I'm doing my best to avoid going outside. Wasn't even used to 20+ temps yet. Tomorrow I'll get up early and try to do a bit before it gets too hot. For the next month all my work is physical and outdoors so need to pace myself. But for today my big decision is play Civ 6 (oldest kid bought it), play Homeworld Remastered (was on sale for $4 today) or go paint things in a nice cool basement.

There's actually a huge reorganisation going on and if I should decide to take the longer term, I might end up with either being laid off or redeployed in a undesirable position. So..Pre-retirement in 3 years and then search for something to do to add more money to the pool. We can manage as it is, so not going to go through all the stress. I will spare you the details but I've already heard some stories from people who got notice that in two or three y
