  1. Here is the Overgourd from Bones 5. He is super fun to paint! I am using him in my D&D game tomorrow! His sidekick is a 3d printed pumpkin cyclops.

  2. My 8 year old son painted these shortly after his birthday last spring. I actually liked his colors and the pattern on the Carnotaurus. Mostly I was over joyed that he didn’t glob the paint on for once. A few weeks ago I decided to paint the eyes, teeth, claws, and base for him. Them a coat of sealer. I think they look great for the toy box. Here are my crappy before and after.

  4. I wanted to try something easy for OSL, so I gave the Bones Death Shroud a shot. The idea was to create a night scene and have the “face” be a glowing bluish-white orb. Here is what I came out with (1st photo). I kept the colors simple to make it fairly quick to paint. After looking through various photos of OSL jobs (to be inspired by much more talented painters 😁), I noticed a trend: they’re almost all photographed against a dark background. From what I could tell, using a dark background, controlling the lighting, and adjusting the contrast so that the painted lighting source is

  5. Hello everyone, I'm mostly done with the second Ogre, I just need to do some touch ups. It's clubbing time, the Ogre way! This one is the 77454, Ogre Clubber sculpted by Bobby Jackson. I swapped the top of its club with that of the 77455, Ogre Smasher. I also added a skull at his waist belt on the left side. As always I used Reaper MSP paint. 77455, Ogre Smasher and 77454, Ogre Clubber

  8. Wow, that's an oldie I haven't seen in a loooong time. We must have done the Time Warp! In other thoughts, I believe Olympic fencing would be more entertaining if matches were contested more like the bout between the Man in Black and Inigo Montoya from The Princess Bride instead of moving just forwards and backwards.

  10. This is the front half of a two-part ruin from Printable Scenery, printed on my Ender 3. It's scaled for use with 28mm figures. I had originally intended it as a vehicle for using my new static grass applicator, but that turned out to be such a useless piece of junk that I reverted to my old favourite, foam flock. There is a bit of static grass on there, but it was applied via the old sprinkle-and-blow method, rather than via this new-fangled static electrickery.

  11. Plenty to paint with the new stuff so started somewhere simple while sorting through the small horde of miniatures that thudded onto the doorstep. In reality the head hasn't turned out that good , thank you sunlight, but did look okay and I love the purples on the cloak. The armour isn't quite how I would have liked but tried drybrushing the whole thing rather than relying on a deep wash. Fun figure though 🙂 Also followed the advice of Rhonda and made colour charts. Really useful as I switch to Reaper paints from others.

  12. Today I found a label on my Maple Leaf brand ground pork proclaiming it was "gluten free". Way to go Maple Leaf. I'm going to write a letter to Alberta Beef Producers and ask them why they aren't on the bandwagon. This is almost as good as the sustainably fished logo on Milo's beef canned cat food. Yeah, MEOW is certainly behind this...

  15. Wait, we're supposed to paint them?? I'm pretty sure I painted some stuff from Bones 1. Likely Bones 2. Maybe something from Bones 3 (which one had Khanjira? That's likely the last I painted...maybe). I know I haven't painted anything from 4...... But I'm positive I've never completed a Bones dragon. I have them all, but since I've only completed one dragon, and it was metal.....

  16. Yes. I've made a few crappy minis completely from scratch using putty. I've done resin and metal casting of minis. Now that I have a 3D printer I've also kitbashed and designed a few things with Blender and Meshmixer. For me there's a big difference between designing/creating a mini and copying/printing one. I think I'm pretty good at kitbashing and modifying existing minis/stls and making copies of them. But I struggle a lot with making a completely new mini without taking parts from something else.

  17. Swung by the f(ns)lgs this afternoon, saw their new location for the first time. It was purty nice. Got stuff: First time buying Magic cards since about 1995 lol (or, well, bought a Commander deck a few years ago but never played, so never mind that). It was a lot of cards! I found it kind of tiresome just opening them all up and digging through. Anyway, was gonna share the cards that really stood out to me--I have no idea which are actually good; I've just been enjoying looking at the art and seeing old-favorite monsters &c. in

  20. This was my second time painting this mini, as I felt that the sculpt deserved better than the shoddy job I gave it a few years back. The nmm attempt on his vambrace definitely leaves something to be desired as wet blending still drives me to the brink of insanity. C&C would be awesome 🙂

  21. 2 of my pet peeves with food marketing are cholesterol free and gluten free. So many plant based products marketed as cholesterol free. Imagine that! It's an animal produced fat. I'm hoping my lettuce doesn't have any. Gluten free is a little trickier because lots of things use a little flour as a filler/additive but still I'm hoping fresh meat and veggies don't have grain in them.

  24. Yeah both putty and software. Though most of my software sculpting has been machines. The little ships in this picture were things I made for starfinder and full thrust when I was playing those. Red ship was the party's ship. The little hexes were a pair of fighters the goblin engineer stole The big hexes of fighters were fighter wings for my full thrust pirate fleet. The woman in the dress was sculpted with putty. There are better examples but I'm not sure where I put them. Make vs assemble, did it exist as explicit parts of a mini before you started? If so you asse

  25. Back after a long-ish hiatus. I had to take a break from painting earlier this year because of some eye issues. No that I can see right again, I wanted to take a simple-ish mini to completion. I used the RCL limited palette theme for July. While the paint job on these maggots can be better, it's gratifying to be back to doing something I enjoy immensely.

  28. Most likely. My personal summer favorite would probably be tennis, 'cuz I'm boring. That might change with this year though, since sport climbing sounds pretty rad. For the winter Olympics, it's snowboarding for sure.

  29. Well, took a few days to get back to it but I have all the B1s assembled now. The front full row is 2 of each upgrade (commander, radiation cannon, security, sniper). The two on bottle caps are the tank commanders, the disc plugs into a spot on the turret. Guess I should assemble that 2nd tanks soon, now that the box is open...... Hopefully get these (and another 16 upgrade figs already assembled) all zenithal primed today or tomorrow, and then can get down to painting them and the STAPs, since they are all the same colour scheme, apart from markings.

  35. I think it's in clear bonesium. Yes, clear. What's also cool is that the base is hollow, so electronics could easily be added. I'm hesitant to paint mine, as the material is exceptionally clear and crystal like as it is, and almost looks like quartz crystal straight out of the packaging.

  36. Wasn't totally happy with how this came out. I wanted a reptilian version of a tiger pattern for stalking in the jungle. Colour scheme worked I think and overall it's a great model but it has some issues I struggled with. It's not symmetrical, the ridges and scales on each side are in different places and don't align making the patterning problematic. That coupled with the fact that some of the larger scales fade out and a lot of the smaller scales are almost indistinct took some of the fun out if it. Normally I enjoy doing scales and applying washes and dry rushing as well as pic

  37. I assembled my Sophie’s revenge… though am thinking of calling her “Witchcraft”… some thoughts. fairly easy assembly… but… hatches… any hatch cover that has something above it, is hard to fit, and has to be in a “half open” state as it can’t full open… so I did not add all the hatches… cannons… the cannons themselves are pretty cool… but… you can’t put them on both sides of the gun deck… you have to remove the upper deck to put the cannons, as they won’t fit just though the hatches. So to get them In to the gun hatches you have to tilt the ship an

I mean, I didn't make the whole thing but I re-skinned something and it looks like it'll work. Now, to find willing subjects, I, uh, I mean, friends to play it with me. Will will not speak of how long it will take to get the minis and paint them. I really do want to paint but it's too hot for me. And, of course, we've got another heat wave coming in this week (not like it has really cooled down much since the last one, we're still seeing highs above 70, usually 80) and I am

  46. Oh, I am so confused. Quick personal note: I am a bit lazy. As such, I tend to leave personal grooming by the wayside, so I am not growing a beard… I just have been too lazy to shave in, oh, two weeks. That would go with nails as well. Confusion time: I have just trimmed said nails, outside on the deck of our mountain cabin. It has your normal distribution of fauna: deer, bear, turkey, jays, flies, and … ants. Big black ones. You know the kind. I just saw one carry away one of my toenail clippings and for the life of me I have zero clue what it plans to do with that. It’s n

  48. I’ve done extensive conversions, the one I’m most proud of is this one: It was a GW sculpt that I fixed the face on, added wings, the right arm, and bird feet. The only things I’ve sculpted have been little things, like flowers or pots of gold (for a leprechaun). I think the Line between making and assembling is subjective and depends on the figure and the crafter.
