  1. I took @Mocha's class on painting dark skin at ReaperVirtual and found it to be fantastic. She's a great instructor (the same could be said for all the class instructors) and her commentary on color choices was like a revelation. I tend to stick to only using the paints that are named after skin tones when painting skin but this came out fantastic. I was so excited by how good the skin looked that I spent way too much time trying to make every other part match the skin. The NMM on the swords probably got repainted a dozen times as I tried to figure out how to move beyond the cartoo

  4. I took @Wren's class on painting scales at ReaperVirtual with my 11-year-old son. One of the best parts of these classes is seeing the color choices that are used for shading and highlighting and in between. Usually colors that I wouldn't think to choose but they come out working very well. I especially liked the part on painting the belly scales, a technique I'm going to get to practice more with my Bones 5 dragons, I expect. I also practiced a little NMM on the sword, shield and armor.

  6. More minis that I painted as part of a class at Reapercon Virtual. The goblins were part of Brice Cocanour's class on painting freehand. The result was something far better than I ever expected to be able to do. It was a really fantastic class. The paladin was from @Kuro Cleanbrush's NMM boot camp. It was a 4 hour class on how to paint NMM and it was exhausting and amazing all at once. My NMM on this one came out a little cartoony but still far better than I expected going in. We painted the sword and part of the chest plate in the class and the rest I did myself after for practice

  7. Friday or Fri-yay? Your dose of trivia for August 20th: 1858 – Charles Darwin first published his theory of evolution through natural selection in The Journal of the Proceedings of the Linnean Society of London, alongside Alfred Russel Wallace's same theory. 1890 – H. P. Lovecraft, American short story writer, editor, and novelist who brought us mythos of the Great Old Ones, was born. 1938 – Baseball player Lou Gehrig hit his 23rd career grand slam (hitting a home run with the bases loaded scoring 4 runs), a record that stood for 75 years until it was brok

They will be watching BD as I take Grump out for some Greek dancing, he had already planned on Greek food. Neither of us will know what our feet are doing. George, my stepdad as of June, has never played D&D, so Mum and I are planning a dual purpose conspiracy. George isn't entirely comfortable around Grump, and has never played D&D, so we are killing two birds with one scone. New party, give George a

  12. Good afternoon my Reapergogglians! So just finished up Ann Penchyk, a Shadowrun character apparently (don't know too much about Shadowrun still, after months and months of painting different Shadowrun figures. I really dig this little blister pack, where we have Ann dressed in her corporate 9-5 job, and then the another version of her, the "adventurer" version of her. So with that in mind, I at least tried to keep her skin tones, hair color, et cetera the same so it looks like she just might be the same gal in different attire. 9-5 Ann:

  15. Just a thought on the tarp/blanker. We have a number of U-Haul movers blankets that I purchased to pad our furniture for the Big Move. They are made out of a felt made from recycled blue jeans, are thick enough and dense enough to be very effective at acting as an air break as well as padding stuff for moving. Cost about $8 each and come in a sturdy plastic zippered case. A couple of the ones we bought are being repurposed as emergency blankets in both the car and truck, a couple will be used for "projects". I've used these in the past when making up noise barrier panels by g

Gods, there are time when it is so obvious that Megan is her mother's daughter that it brings tears to my eyes. I am going to have to give Brigid a few cameos, aren't I? The Auld Grump - the look of sheer glee on my wife's face, when I got home tonight, was a thing of beauty.

  18. @Geoff Davis taught a really good class at ReaperVirtual about painting hair. This mini is the result of that class. Just because I like to experiment I also tried out some OSL on the orb in her hand and then tried my hand at painting the gem in her staff to look like... well... a gem. Any criticism or critique is welcome.

No storms or funnel clouds this time, yet the flavor seems to have "thickened" for lack of better term. My current hypothesis is that the it is this "unsettled" portion of the flavor that is responsible for the weather altering side effects. Once balanced, these transmute into an increase in tastiness, which is nice, but "deweaponizes" the beef which is not conductive to my plans of regional conquest...I should also look into timing the use of Thunder Beef with

I've really enjoyed the league, it's been a really great excuse to paint some minis I've had laying around and the inspiration from other painters has been really fantastic. The below figures are some of my favorites I've done so far. Apologies in advance for the picture dump!

Miracle number 1: I had to pay... nothing 😶. Miracle number 2: Nothing is missing (thanks, @kit ) Miracle number 3: I've managed to dry-fit the big monsters/dragons etc. and everything fits like a glove. Sooo yes! I'm quite happy 😅

  29. When you talk with them, ask about a bandanna, either in conjunction with the full face mask or instead of. You can get oversize bandannas in places like Hobby Lobby [where I got mine]. When the virus first hit I made up a special bandanna with a layer of HEPA Filter material pinned between the two layers of bandanna when it was folded over to make a triangle. I glued velcro tabs on the ends so I wouldn't have to mess with knots but just bring the two pieces of velcro together. Even with the extra layer of filter media it was easier to breathe than with the more conforming masks,

  30. they just asked me if i was high risk. I said yes, they gave me the booster. No proof involved. I would think that they would do the same for you. On the plus side, while i was there 7 people were vaccinated for the first time and 3 for the second. Its a small step but a step none the less What has worked best for me was to put a piece of 6 inch thick fiberglass wool insulation over the door and stick it to the top of the door with tape, making sure it overlaps the seam by a foot or 2. sometimes you might have to tape two pieces together but its effective

  31. In our school district, the in town kids have to walk a block or three to bus stops, but there are a couple of places where the transportation director has adjusted a stop to be in front of a student's house for various reasons. When we first moved here, and my daughter was eligible to ride the bus, rather than direct us to the bus stop 4 blocks away in front of another students house, he just told the driver to pick up/drop her off in front of our house, since there was only six weeks left in the school year. The following two years, she had to walk to the bus stop, which they adjusted to

  32. Sounds like the beginnings of a plan. If I were doing it, the foam-tarp/blanket sandwich would be placed over the opening on the attic side and secured in place with strategically placed strips of velcro. I would make sure the foam-tarp/blanket overlapped the outer edge of the opening by at least 4 inches, and try to keep wrinkles out of the installation for a better air seal. Best of luck. GEM

  34. Viewing this from as charitable a perspective as possible, the thought occurred to me that somewhere in the installation and setup process it's possible somebody made the decision to classify each vacuum station as a vacuum bay and put them in the reports as the third and fourth bays. This is the only remotely rational explanation I can think of. Probably the only people who have the answers are the first owner and the tech that actually did the initial programming. GEM

  35. Sadly, I am reminded of that fact on a regular basis. What's even more frightening is that there is an overlap between the dumbest functional humans and really smart bears. Which is why it is so difficult to design a truly bear proof trash receptacle. The really smart bears can figure it out, and the really dumb humans can't. GEM

  37. Cattle Rustling is already a problem in certain areas of the country. They will show up with a 5th wheel cattle trailer behind a duallie tow vehicle, load up the trailer and take them to a mobile butcher plant then fence the meat. Horses aren't in as much demand with the popularity of ATVs. - There's a problem with dog-napping in the USA, particularly the french bulldog breed. GEM

  39. It’s not a hatch, so much as a board that’s covering the hole. It doesn’t seem like it’s secured at all, because when they pumped a bunch of insulation fluff in the ceiling this summer it got dislodged and the insulation fluff got all over my clothes (which was just, great 🙄). Thank you for your suggestions guys 🤗

  42. If I could pick the brains of all y’all homeowners and DIYers for a moment: I have an attic access in my bedroom closet that lets in an ungodly amount of heat in the summer, as well as an merely unseemly amount of cold in the winter. I would like to cover this up and reduce my energy bill. But because it’s an apartment, it has to be temporary. I had an idea about a piece of foam with like a tarp stuck to one side, which I think is a thing that exists… Does anyone have some helpful (or not) tips/advice/knowledge for me?

  43. Acquisitions! I broke down on Sunday and ordered a couple things from Game Envy! Standard 10 Rack (whatever they call it), with a large device holder (my tablets are 10" varieties) in back and red sides. This is a bit over-engineered, and is a fair pain to put together. I ended up breaking the tab off one of the side supports during the initial setup. I also ended up over-tightening a couple screws initially. Both issues addressed shortly after. Hopefully the glue will hold on the tab. Standard Hobby Holder with the lar

  44. OMG.... I wonder how much of this is that guys fault, and how much was our techs. Turns out his system was configured for four self serve bays, but two of those bays were really vacuums. So the numbers were really there, but the reports were calling them Bay 3 & 4. I Google Street Viewed the place, and it's a site with two self serve bays. He questions why the vacuums aren't on the report, yet doesn't question why it shows four self serve bays when it only has two? And why is this coming up only now, after years of being installed,a nd three different owners?
