  1. I really like this chap's air of melancholy as he trudges through a cold, damp marsh.

  2. I made this piece of scenery for whenever I get around to playing some kind of zombie game. It's just foamboard, dowels and coffee stirrers. The image was downloaded, printed, stuck on, and then ruined with lots of washes and the blunt edge of an X-acto knife (Quatro was a soft drink sold in the UK in the 80s; I wanted a bit of a retro look). I added some random graffiti to the back. It was mainly painted with cheap craft paints. The junk on the base is by Reaper, TTCombat and Debris of War, as well as a couple of stones from my drive.

  3. Presenting the Frost Giant Heroine from Reaper. Not my best work, I'm still not great at getting all the mold-lines off these PVC minis, plus I was painting her to help work through some issues I was having so she's a bit on the rough and basic side. Was still a lot of fun to paint up though, I'll have to get the other one done now. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

  5. Wow, I was like, waaay behind on this thread. My first crown was gold. It makes me giggle every time I think about the fact, though unfortunately it's a molar in the very back where nobody can see it usually. What a waste of a perfectly good pirate accessory. Huh. I didn't realize I'm as old as Mario. I'm...not sure if that makes me feel old or not. A very interesting article, which I could comment on more coherently if I weren't so tired. Work has been hitting me like a truckload of bricks, and I'm star

Knowledge is power, so here's your Tuesday Timeline Trivia for September 21st: 1745 – A British army was defeated in under 30 minutes by the Jacobite forces of Prince Charles Edward Stuart at the Battle of Prestonpans/Gladsmuir. 1853 – Heike Kamerlingh Onnes, Dutch physicist and Nobel Prize laureate who liquefied helium and discovered superconductivity, was born. 1933 – Salvador Lutteroth established Mexican professional wrestling, lucha libre.

  8. Uh... I guess this will have to suffice... MG Wing Gundam Zero EW Ver.Ka is steadily coming together. Now almost has legs! (I got two and a quarter pages done over the weekend) Desserts will almost always get a yes, same as "are you hungry? I'm paying" I did laundry. That counts, right? If not, I'm not saying, and neither is my gorgeous Treat the Dragon who guards my entire workbench. ... This just in, Treat has described it as CLAIMED the entire workbench as his, so naturally the task of "guarding" it isn't an appropriate enou

  10. I just did a Google map search and street view to verify a customer's address. Although it was his home address, I was still able to confirm it because of the large pallet of car wash soap barrels sitting in the drive way.

  11. I'm beginning to think that your house has decided that it's purpose in life is to turn you into one. Try to look at it as 1:1 scale terrain modelling. I mean you've already achieved a victory few can brag about when you defeated the gazebo, this task pales in comparison to that.

  12. The La Palma eruption is still ongoing, (and finally seeing mainstream news coverage), and given the steady 19 cm ground deformation, there looks to still be plenty of pressure beneath it. Although Mount Fagradalsfjall in Iceland took an 8 day break, it is now the longest eruption Iceland has seen in 50 years. (oddly it resumed just as the earthquake swarms were kicking into high gear in La Palma) Feeling neglected of attention, Semispochnoi on Unyak Island, in the Rat Island chain of the Aleutian Islands of Alaska, decided to start spewing out a giant ash cloud in a major eruption e

  14. Went to the FLGS that's not exactly local on the way home from my neurologist appointment. Haven't been there since before the pandemic. We had a 50$ish credit on our store card and ended up adding 11$ today. So now we have 60$ish in credit. The person who checked us out wanted to know what I was painting (I was buying paint) and I ended up telling them about my painting IG account. They'd complained that no one ever has pictures of things they are painting. Got the paints, mostly DC'd or LE stuff. They did have a handful of Heavy Gear paints but I succeeded my will check and did n

  22. Taking a day off tomorrow. I need to make some repairs, there are some windows from the canopy that leak. This is situated over the concrete stairs leading to the outer cellar. Probably the rubbers/sealants. I have used a watering can to pinpoint the issue. Found two that let water through so far. Hope I can fix it myself with special anti leakage sealant. Kinda annoying I hate this kind of work since I'm not that much of a handyman.

  32. Heat, humidity, chores. There's never enough time to get the chores done between spring and autumn, and I'm prone to heat exhaustion. One reason I loved the Modesitt book Fall of Angels. The 'angels' come largely from a planet that is much colder than the one the Saga of Recluse is set in, and can't function well outside of their mountain home. I feel that. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/185224.Fall_of_Angels Winter means cozy woodstoves and maybe 15-45 minutes of snowblowing a week, with many weeks requiring almost no outdoor chores. Also, the hordes of folks prow

  37. Does anybody remember the old, old Kenner Girder & Panel toy sets? I had a couple of such sets as a little kid, and it seems that they first came out in the 1950s, and since then occasionally they've been revived by some company or another -- same exact product, only re-branded different ways, cast in different colors of plastic, with different accessories from time to time. I lucked out in finding a couple of boxes of one such "revival" in the form of "Power City Construction Extension Pack" boxes -- a couple of baggies of the basic "I-beam" vertical column and horizontal su

  38. Hi folks, I painted up my Queen of Hell yesterday for the RCL "Textures" pop-up. She's a gorgeous model, really fun to paint. I gave NMM another try and am happy with the gold but not so much with the steel. However, more experience is still good. 🙂 I realised when looking up her SKU that I attached the left hand incorrectly- so it goes! Now to paint the King of Hell to match one of these days... thanks for looking. 🙂

I also made a little list of things I already did in this house, it helps me to see that I CAN do stuff. Still...it's not my hobby and it never will be.. I hope I have found the spot and that it will be solved like this. And then on to the next project...

I greatly enjoy Marshaling, but it is a strange "hobby", often hard to explain to others why we like. Most folks who come either come once or twice and then disappear, or they are hooked for life. Why I like it? I like helping out. Without marshals, they can't race. I like being out in the sun (or whatever) all day. I like being in the know on what is

  47. Despite running on 4 hours sleep, I decided to get up in time to get pictures of the beautiful dawn light. Still shuffling, but I managed to do it without my sticks this time. Pity that I was exhausted afterwards but it's all about building myself back up right now. Had tea, toast and cake and am now recovering on the sofa underneath two of the cats. All in all, not the worst way to spend a Monday.
