  1. I did a quick paint job on this one just to practice some freehand on the inside of the cloak. Made the skin highlights a little too harsh for my own taste, but this will be used heavily at the game table at ReaperCon 2022.

  2. This. So much this. It's especially awesome when said kitteh started off as a tiny, angry feral floof and nowadays they start purring as soon as you pick them up (this is his "cuddles please!" face)

  3. Thursday's dose of "Did you know this happened?" for September 23rd: 1641 – The Merchant Royal, carrying a treasure of over 100,000 pounds of gold (worth over £1 billion/$1.5 billion today), was lost at sea off Land's End. 1880 – John Boyd Orr, 1st Baron Boyd-Orr, Scottish biologist, physician, and Nobel Peace Prize recipient for his work in nutrition, was born. 1884 – On the night of 23 to 24 September, steamship Arctique ran aground near Cape Virgenes, Argentina, leading to the discovery of nearby placer gold and beginning the Tierra del Fuego gold rush.

  4. The Autumn Equinox has had an energizing effect, enough that I was able to finally get off my elf this morning and resume my battle with the weight rack. Later in the day I discovered that I still had enough energy to hike down to the cemetery....

  7. Mostly yard work, because it's been overwhelmingly hot and humid this summer. We've also had lots of rain so the weeds are all 3ft taller than when I stopped clearing stuff in June. This morning was in the 50's so it will be a good day to do some of the harder jobs without risking heat exhaustion. I also have deck trellis to finish painting and get nailed up.

  8. Hobbying. Any kind. Ever since I started the new job and moved, I feel like I just can't get into anything anymore. It's not even a matter of not having enough time. The time is there, but my mind is in a rut. What will help is that next month I should be able to consult a neuropsychologist for an adult ADHD diagnosis, or whatever it is they find. I already suspect my heart meds are making my lack of general motivation worse.

  9. Pivoting my entire painting desk/paint rack/hobby storage cubby 90°. It'll give me more space to move and will mean that I won't have to turn sideways to see what's happening outside at the bird feeders. What's stopping me? A whole bunch of physical issues and a temporarily low stamina bar. My 400 bottle paint rack is also a bit of a concern- do I try to move it as it is, or should I try and remove all the paints and risk messing up the carefully placed order? What if I mess it up? As you can see, analysis paralysis has been a bit rampant lately

  10. Well, first and foremost, stop carrying the heavy box unevenly... I've found that definitely helps. Also, don't put your keys and scanner on the same side (Hino key ring gets a bit heavy when you've got two giant keyfobs, two keys, and a key set on it) As for the other version of balance, ah unno. I'd say sit down at the workbench and work on something, but I'm still coming back fairly tired after work, so... Ah unno.

  14. I expect my wife has a longer list, but..... Hobby related: 1) Finish organizing closet/mini storage. I hurt my back taking it apart. The mess is making me want to get back at it now that my back has improved. 2) Get back to painting....see #1. 3) get minis in storage room put away, organized. See #1. This will get a push soon, as I'm hoping to be able to move my table for SW Legion in there for the winter and have room to play. Not Hobby related: a) finish clothesline step. Will be finished as soon as I find a 1x4 deckboard and some 2 and a half inch de

  15. I desperately need to replace the privacy fence around a portion of my backyard. It's nearly falling over in places and portions of the wood have rotted out. The only reason it's not done is the same reason it's in the state it's in... the construction guys next door. There's a bunch of really poorly built condos across one alley from us where the fence is in disrepair. They are using the most bottom of the barrel workers they can find on this place (seriously, I watched a plumber open up his work van the other day and dozens of empty beer bottles fell out) and those guys have no respect for a

Having Grump put the game for Mum and my family on hold, so I can wrap the Norse game before DtY leaves. Not happy with wrapping the Norse game, honestly, I should have put it on hold instead of running it on a virtual tabletop. It never really worked for remote gaming. It sort of sonowballed on me and went off aeay from what I had planned. So, asking if they want to retake their homeland, or forge a new nation, and picking ba

  18. We do, but this wasn't one of those times - this was a definite 'OUR kid' moment. (We may have a trunk of LARPing costumes in storage. Some of them might be piratical in nature.) The Auld Grump - some could be rather steampunk piratical, suitable for airships.

  19. There is a document full of suggested changes/improvements to the software that will likely never get made, pretty sure this is on there. The software was initially written by an in house software engineer who retired several years ago. Getting any changes made to the software either means coaxing him out of retirement, or pulling one of the other software engineers off of income producing projects, neither of which happen very often - usually only if there is a big problem or new bug, which we haven't had in years. There are workarounds and places this info is stored - you just have

  21. really nice shot! it sums up autumn beautifully fall is also the time of harvest and relaxing, of beer and celebrations, a time to reap the rewards of the year. Its my favorite season of the year, easily beating out spring and summer and more closely beating out winter. Its just sad for me that it seems to pass so quickly... okay since you all decided to bring it up and someone dragged out the punchline: A witch is nailing a lion into a wardrobe. a child walks by and asks "what are you doing?" the Witch responds: "Narnia business!"

If they are like their wild partridge cousins, they can't teleport when scared, because their brain shuts down and can't control their powers. I know my Grandparents chickens used to teleport, especially 'that damn rooster'

  24. Just to show that not all my calls are cringeworthy I just got a panicked call from the main office asking if I could help out a Distributor Tech who did an upgrade, and something had apparently gone catastrophically wrong, and no one else was available to help him. My heart drops, because usually these things are far worse than I'm initially told. I take a deep breath, and call the tech: Tech: I'm getting error code X. Not sure what I did wrong. Me: Do they have <device name> installed? Tech: No Me: No big deal then! The device is a minor convenience feature

  25. This was a Reapercon special a year or three ago, and part of my end of year paint binge for 2020. Despite that. it didn't get finished until July of this year. It's very small, would just fit on a round 1" base.

  26. Getting rid of my Lego collection. This is an interesting dilemma. I've been keeping it for the nieflings to inherit, but their utter lack of responsibility has made me vow to never under my power allow another piece of Lego into their house. I want to sell it, but I think the online market is saturated with Lego, and no one wants to buy from Canada because our shipping rate is obnoxious. So that leaves the local exchange, which I might try, but I'd be making very little profit and just happy to see it go. Probably the smartest solution I had is to donate to the library for an after school pro

  27. Today has been very ...SQUIRREL! I mean that both literally and figuratively. For most of the day, i haven't bene able to focus on any of the tasks I need to do, I just keep getting distracted. And right now, one of those distractions has been a squirrel that keeps running back and forth across the neighbor's driveway outside my office window.

  31. I got this Balrog this week. Been wanting it for a lil while. The original release, previewed in Toy Fare magazine, was my first sight of the creature ever. But this one includes the whip and sports light-up eyes and mane, so I had to go for this one. I kinda wish there was a mini of a demon that sported similar aesthetics.

  33. Are you sure they're staying under the coop? One of the livestreams of the La Palma eruption had irritated chickens complaining during the overnight hours, so either your chickens are making their way to the island and cheering on the lava, or it's a world wide conspiracy of chickens trying to encourage the volcano gods into smiting humanity....

The little red light has been on for... a while on the one downstairs and we realized earlier this week the other one upstairs has done the same. I think the push we've gotten is that our cat who spends almost all her time upstairs started sneezing a lot. So going to to that soon and hope the sneezing stops, if not it's another trip to the vet. Also, need to move the TV's of my mom's that have been sitting in our living room far too long. The weather change is the push. We need a nice-ish (i.e not rainy) day to get them into t

  39. I've got to purge a lot of stuff from the basement, old electronics and stuff. General lack of motivation and not wanting to make several trips to the recycle center to drop stuff off (including paying $10 per TV or monitor) is making me not want to deal with it. I'd probably do it if I was told I had free reign to throw out anything older than 6 years without having to have a pow-wow on whether we should keep it. That and if I get the space cleared out by it.

Players finished Danger at Dunwater with only a few lizardfolk killed, they entered a room luckily with a lizardman that spoke common, so they were able to negotiate something with them & he lead them to the queen for talks of an alliance (also the player made his persuasion check with flying colors, paladin, prof with the skill). They got to mingle with the Lf for a bit & more importantly heal up for the next part. The queen said, the party to make up for the deaths in the caves

  43. Question for Tuesday Sept 21 Today is the last day of summer. When you think of the season, what is the essence of what summer means to you? Traveling, road trips, camping. Question for Wednesday September 22 The Autumnal Equinox A day in balance. What do you do for yourself when you need to find a bit of balance? Going out for a run or walk - 15min at least, movement, and time to myself. Also crying in the car is an option, but not as purposeful, more of an activity of opportunity.
