  1. My 3d printing journey continues. I Decided to make a diorama featuring an early villain from the DnD game I'm running. I Give you Lord Malman! Or as my players referred to him Lord BadMan. Almost all elements where 3d printed. And purchased off my mini factory. The Nelfeshnee was from realm of paths. The necklace and other jewelry was added by me with good old greenstuff. I'd love to here what you all think. More pics can ne found here. https://www.instagram.com/p/CeCPkH1OBGS/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

  2. Hello All, Here is a metal 02716 "Demonic Lasher" aka "Demogorgon" I completed a few weeks ago. This is a metal miniature and is a bit heavy. It would be nice to see an updated version of the Demonic Lasher miniature from Reaper. Though this one does look very much like the original Demogorgon illustration in the original D&D Monster Manual. Thank you for looking.

  5. Well, we got out of our apartment okay. I had to take an extra day, and it wasn’t as clean as I wanted it to be (though far cleaner than most folks’ standards). Our attic is slowly getting set up. It looks very much like a pillow fort. Sephy loves it, because she’s got a window she can stand at and see outside (and yell at everything going on outside). Unfortunately, and predictably, work on the kitchen has stalled out. It’s been a week since anything was done in there. But the gal who is helping us is doing it as a gift, so I’m not going to complain. It would be nice to be able to cook again though. My body and wallet do not care for all this eating out.

  7. This year's generation of Fat Little Birds is far more organized than previous years. First is one perching and pecking on the air conditioner to wake me up. Then the postioning of the lead scout who reports the exact moment the front door closes when I'm done putting the food out. Main group seems to be about 7 birds, 2 of whom are on rotating scout duty, keeping watch from the top of the lilac. It appears that my experiments in using a seed bell to grant the Fat Little Birds the power of the Thuum utilizing Odic Force last year has had a few side effects...I did not expect the children of the bell exposed birds to start practicing small unit tactics. The previous flocks were a mass of unruly little barbarians, these exhibit a Roman like disipline. The morning doves also are acting oddly, calming marching side by side up to the front door the other day like a pair of salesmen trying to sell me a vacuum. Some of this can probably be attributed to the presence of the Nesting Cat under the house, which would be an obvious source of increased paranoia for the birds, hence increased organization, but considering that the neighbor's seed eating cat was already a frequent visitor, and the occasional hawk swooping down it wasn't as if the prior barbarian horde didn't have reason to be alert. I think I'll get another seed bell next time I'm at Menards, if the current rate of Odic Force changes remains the same, by next year I will have a highly efficient Front Porch Defense Force, perhaps in 5 years, a small army of militant birds with which I can finally embark on my life's goal of conquering Kendall County.... (or I will be responsible for the sequal to "The Birds"... "Birds 2, This Time They Have Spears and Scream Verbal Abuse At You In Latin"

  13. We had a minor tornado hit us in the middle of the night and drop tree branches all over the place. DH and I worked off and on during the day to get stuff cut and cleaned up. Fortunately the house and cars are ok and no one was injured. I don't know how we're going to get rid of all these branches though. We hauled a lot to the curb but I'm not sure the city is going to take them. (and I already have 2 barrels of wood for bbq, so I don't need more)

  14. Another Bones Dwarf for the Coffee Dwarf adventuring party... Proudly displaying his allegience to Maxwell House. Including his Dwarf sized coffee mug, slightly yellowed due to lack of washing. Which would violate the 1st Dictate of Agamenthar "Thou Shalt Not Wash Thy Mug and Remove the Accumulation of Blessed Flavor Therein."

  16. We have a lot of badgers around here. They are every bit as friendly as they look in the picture. You don't mess with badgers. Tough and vicious. They'll usually run away when they see people but if you ever get too close you better be ready to run. Only ever got charged by one once and I didn't stick around to see who'd win the fight. At least it didn't really want to catch me because they're as fast as I was in my younger days over short distances.

  17. Painted up the Bones V boulderkin - and I love them! Fun, quick painting, got to try three color schemes, and gave me some ideas for the table - another model that outperformed my expectation of 'meh - some boulder people'

  23. More progress! Working from home has its benefits. I typically start work at around 6am, and work through until I have to pick up the kids, around 5:30pm. I try to break it up with exercise, sometimes a TV break, or... more likely... a painting break. So I've been able to make significant progress in the past few weeks, and I'm quite pleased with how she's coming along! But getting to spend my "commute time" at the paint table is simply marvelous. I finished the lower hull by applying Contrast Snakebite Leather everywhere, and painting the ridge where the magnets sit black. I was very relieved to find that Testor's (rattlecan) dullcoat does remove the "Bones Tacky" that comes with so many paints on Reaper Bones. I had initially thought I wanted to do a green stripe up the middle of the ship, but my six year old convinced his daddy to try red. I think it looks good! I set about applying another layer (by brush!) of Vallejo Dark Yellow primer along the strata of the boat with all the gun ports in the middle hull. I then applied Contrast Dark Angels Red over that, and painted the gun ports themselves black. I painted the stripe black, that sits above this red layer, and used contrast paint directly over the German Red Brown primer along the railing. I felt it came out OK (though if I had it to do over again, I might use a while primer for the middle stripe, before applying the Contrast red, to make the red more bright and vibrant - for example, that's also Contrast Dark Angels Red on Sophie's waist, but over a much lighter primer of Grey Seer). Edit: it's a bit hard to tell in the photos below, but Sophie's waist is a brighter shade of red. I think I prefer that a bit, but it's very minor. I wasn't quite sure what to do with the filigree in the front of the ship. GW Screaming Bell (a red metallic)? Black metallic? Red? I finally opted for gold (Scale 75 Elven Gold - I like their metallic colors) and don't regret it a bit. I primed the filigree white (as I did with the rope nearby too), and used two coats of Elven Gold. Last, I washed the ropes in Skeleton Horde (Aggaros Dunes might've been better, but ...) Looks pretty good to me! This color scheme will next get ported over to the aft cabins, the next and last step on making her seaworthy! Here's what the middle deck looks like, now that it's done: Adding on the masts, figurehead, and lower deck - she's very nearly ready!

  26. Just testing a color scheme and getting my paint recipe worked out before tacking a whole army of these dudes. Basic color is spray primed Army Painter purple, then I hit the front with Army painter yellow spray. Dry brush everything with a bone color, wash everything with purple ink, then wash the backside with black ink. Testing out the weapons with grey paint, dark tone wash, then paint on Green Stuff World chrome paint on flat surfaces. Overall I am really happy with the color scheme, it captures a cool alien vibe and is easy and super fat to paint. Now to dig out the hundred or so models I have collected to fill out an armies worth.

  41. Had a fairly short session tonight as I've got an early day with the chainsaw tomorrow. In that brief time however I did finish Max Sterling's configurations and bases. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture but they can been seen in the background. Mira Sterling's configurations recieved a simple white basecoat but that was it. As she joined the U.N. Spacey fairly late in the series her paintjob will be quite different from what I've done so far. This could be a blessing however as the later color schemes look a lot easier. Guess we'll see soon enough.

  46. Contrary to popular belief, I have not run off and joined a ghoul warren. Although at this point in time, I would be tempted.... Combination of Spring weather causing me to lose ground in the Lawn War, allergies, creative funk, and various other frustrations meant that my only contribution here would be a series of rants about things that none of us can change, so I figured it best to stay away for a bit.
