  3. I'm the only one home right now, and I just heard a noise from the other room. It was the sound of a chair moving (desk chair, so it's got wheels). After announcing to what I sincerely hoped was an empty house that I'm armed, I began investigating. Rounding the corner towards the room that the noise came from, I heard a 'mew' and saw one of the cats sitting in the desk chair. Cat scared the heck out of me.

  11. The freerpg day items I got on Weds this week. I'll be running the 2 adventures. The paint kit was my free item. Tbh, I think you got to pick a freebie per item you are going to run, so I need to ask tomorrow. The owner did say I will also get something else on thr day as well. There are 3 things I'd like to get. Should be plenty leftover, but who knows. Also tonight, order from the Noblest of Knights came: Army Painter Matte white & Alien Purple primers Sabol Designs 1 1/2 inch foam trays. (Kinda forgot about them) Finally, some prepainted minis: Web lurker x2 Ochre jelly Chardalyn pseudodragon Banshee Deathlock wight All for next month AL game. Other then maybe foam trays for RCon, I am done for a few months of gaming stuff! (At least planned gaming stuff ). Also 40+ resin 3d printed figures came, but no need to show those off.

  13. So, today was a bit of a day for acquisitions. I had to drive over to the next city over to finally get my replacement CPAP machine due to the recall.... oh a year or so ago. (it was a global recall, so they replaced by how old they were, since the issue was more likely with age, usually. Mine was fairly new so had to wait a bit, but luckily it did not start producing the nasty harmful stuff in the meantime). Isn't it lovely, all curvy and modern looking, and non-cancer-causing...... And while I was out these were delivered. So as you may have read, I developed Bell's Palsy this week, which sucks, but hey, better than it being a stroke (look at me with the positive thinking!). Due to that I can't completely close my right eye (the lower lid doesn't really move). Therefore at night I have to protect it from drying out. As part of that the hospital provided a few of these pad, but I've been unable to find more locally. So big river to the rescue. On to the good stuff. On my wave over I stopped at a gaming store that also carries Bolt Action and Konflikt '47. Snagged a couple of things. I hadn't gotten around to buying Marder yet. And the Totenkorps (zombies) were priced at pre-all-warlord-metals-go-up-25%-prices, so yoink! While waiting for my appointment for the CPAP I popped into a local chain of game stores just to kill 15 minutes..... A few different AV tufts, some ground cover, and a limited ed Pop! I only really buy Imp and Mando pops, I generally only like the ones with helmets.....and this is botha Mando and an Imp, so ..... Then after the CPAP thing, I was going to meet a friend I haven't seen in years, like over a decade years, as he's working for the summer over in this city. But he was still working, so I went to check on a hobby store I'd heard good things about in terms of paint and hobby stuff you can't pick up locally anywhere else. I restrained myself to this. SO many things I want to try out or have watched videos of, that would have been on my order from Ontario or somewhere lists. Fairly unique store set up. The store is the bottom level of his split level house...... I then checked a couple of other stores right in the downtown area, but they were mostly comics and games, and I didn't see anything that I had to have (and my CC was starting to smoke.....) so I didn't pick up anything there. But on the drive home I did stop by my FLGS to pick up my Star Wars Legion Shadow Collective pre-orders, since they were finally able to sell them in Canada (a week after the US for some reason). I did also pick up a MUST HAVE mug that I spotted last night while I was in playing..... Whew, where am I going to put all of this new stuff??

  14. Always carry an Apocalypse Preparation Kit. Just to be clear, you're not preparing for one in case it happens, it's for making an apocalypse happen on your own terms. Plan it so that you become the stern but benevolent ruler in the aftermath.

  19. It's been one of those days, just chalk it up to that. My wife & I went out to our favorite Chinese restaurant tonight for dinner. Fantastic food, like always. Opened my 3d prints I had to order due to my own printer not cooperating. These are for RCon games, so mixed emotions on them. FREERPGDAY in the morning. I'll head up to the FLGS around 1130 or so, I work tomorrow night, so I won't stay too long, but I'll stay long enough to run the 2 games I volunteered to do & I may see if I can get into a game if I'm interested in the game that is being run. Heading towards the garage now to do some hobby stuff. Gotta take advantage of my nights off, especially ones with a nice evening in store weather-wise around here.

  22. I haven't read any books recently. I've been reading some manhwa, but none of them are something I would consider great. If it's dirty I clean it up but I like a little clutter. By virtue of location I (and my neighbors) would have pretty good chance of surviving round 1 of whatever it is. There is a third strike target about 40 minutes away, but by then the whole northern hemisphere would be radioactive anyway, there are slightly too many houses around to make for a good secret alien invasion location but the population density is low enough that infectious diseases have a harder time spreading, 800 ft above sea level, no fault lines anywhere close, etc.

  24. I don’t understand how someone charging others for something like that could get it so wrong and also send it out. I’ve printed less than 20 beds worth of printing, but have not got results that bad. Plus, if I was charging someone for it, I wouldn’t be ok with sending out anything that looked shoddy.

  25. Yes. I try to keep my personal hygiene good but I am a farmer/rancher. I've been arms deep inside of cattle both living and dead, covered in oil and dirt until I looked like a coal miner and never scared of doing what needs to be done. My work areas tend to disorganised and when left alone the clutter tends to grow. I'm not the best at keeping everything in it's proper place especially when I'm using it. I live with a neat freak so other than my painting table in the basement I put things away. She spends more time cleaning and organising than doing anything else. For me that is definitely a lower priority. I focus on getting the job done and then clean up sometime. I'm playing Shadowrun videogames now so I'll go with what happened in it or Rifts. Magical energies return with a bang bringing many mythological critters along with it. Civilization is nearly destroyed as humans try to adjust to the newcomers wanting their piece of our world. I'm located far from the main focal points and large cities that attract creatures looking for snacks. I'm able to survive the initial disruptions because I'm a jack of all trades that is used to dealing with any problems by themselves. I'm surrounded by other people who are relatively well armed and as capable as myself. We have the knowledge to keep our vehicles running for some time without new parts, hunt and grow food. We're not a large enough group to attract much attention and capable enough to put down the few wanderers that try to mess with us. My personal niche is militia captain because of my hobbies of military history, paintball and self defense. Lacking any professionals for the position I'm in the group of the best of the bad choices to organise the defenses. The biggest challenge is that nothing here is easily defendable. We lived on scattered farms miles from our neighbours and in small, sprawling villages. We have no heavy weapons capable of handling the big monsters so we try to use distraction to keep them away from the remaining towns where people have congregated. We only have enough people and resources to fortify a few places and rely on highly mobile patrols and scouts for warning. As our survival depends on scrounging and working away from the towns speed and mobility are important. Standard tactic is everybody is armed and every work party has dedicated guards. If anything too powerful is encountered the guards try to lead them away from the workers/gatherers while they avoid pursuit and head for the nearest safe place. Our area has wood, coal and oil which we are struggling to maintain the pumps. When able we take caravans to the nearest surviving cities to trade our crude oil, food and scraps for other materials that we can't produce ourselves. The biggest problem is a lack of refining for the crude oil but so far convoys of trucks have been able to keep us somewhat supplied. It's a tough life but at the moment we're doing better than many.

  26. A Warning to @everyone else: this could get political quick depending on how you slant an answer. The Sun runs out of Hydrogen. Initially it goes dark…and what little remaining light there is to reflect off the Moon turns it dark red. I do not.

  27. I live under a rock, I would have no idea what happened. I would abandon the house, it's too close to the highway to be defendable anyway, and walk through the fields with my pets for a day to my parent's farm. Being food hoarders of a tremendous skill, we would never run out. I would ride the range on horseback, collecting dogs for my attack pack and wielding spears and firearms in a cowboy hat and slicker as a crusader, protecting pilgrims on their way to Zion. My niche is in agriculture, I've spent most of my life around livestock and gardens.

  30. I had to take a week off here, due to work. Coming back home late yesterday, I immediately sat down this morning to paint two of them. I finished the acrylic base layer with shades through zenithal and brushed in as well. Did the first highlights too. So the palette is set now and there‘s a lot of room for making them succinct. I really need to think about the squirrels. This one turned out a bit like a pig.

  34. They are having hearings on that now. No "niche", I am the MoAT. I have a degree in Physics, was a varsity fencer, know martial arts, computers, electrical repair, auto repair, and am a packrat of all parts. (for those that can't figure out MoAT it is the ETLA for Master of All Trades , ETLA is extended Three Letter Acronym) I am not really a MoAT though, I do not fire weapons of Range very well. I have the yips firing rifles. When I was a teen, whenever I would start to fire the rifle, someone would pluck a hair from the back of my leg.

  35. Filtration went in yesterday. Well is being decommissioned as I type, and that just leaves the trench to be filled in; that was supposed to happen sometime this week, but hasn't .. yet. There's still time (prime inconvenience hour would be roughly now, because hyuge trucks in mah yard, but.. well. We'll see). I have a Plan involving burgers tomorrow, because damnit, I have been wanting a burger for ages ... Specifically, I have been wanting one of MY burgers. Ideally, grilled. We'll see about that bit..

  36. Well. We're treating Urgent Care like a walk-in clinic for a few days; which they don't seem to have a problem with. I guess I can work with that, although I continue to think that being on a first-name basis with the urgent care staff isn't something I would normally /want/. We have filtration. The guy doing the install managed to break two drill bits in our basement wall, forgot some of the parts he needed and still managed to get the job done before five PM. I'll take it. I haven't actually tested the r/o filtered water yet; but the system is installed and working. The old well is being decommissioned tomorrow, and the trench filled in.. *eyes calendar* .. Soon (TM). So, the Saga of the Well is coming to an end, at long last. One less source of stress and frustrate. I'll take it.

Part of my Shifting Sands Project https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/79372-shifting-sands-glitterwolf-paints-egyptian-undead/page/24/#comments ********************* Young, Beautiful but foremost...deadly. Kalista served in the Lion's, the elite guard of the High King himself, but when she refused his "attention" she found herself in the Arena. And there to the King's dismay, she not just survived, she won, over and over again and she became so populair that in the end the King had no choice than to set her free to please the crowd. These days Kalista is for hire as a mercenary, she leads caravans or nobles safely to their destination among other "jobs" ... Her reputation is often enough to secure a safe passage. And should some robber not know her? Well....what happens then is just adding to her reputation. There are rumours that Kalista even volunteers to fight in the Arena again but only for the right price. *************************

  38. I want to scale up a base, but it'll end up too thick. Lets shave a bit off the bottom of a 32mm base so that it can be scaled up and still look good... I'm using a base from Signum for this example. It should work just fine with anyone else's bases, too. Fire up OpenSCAD, and enter this text: { translate([66,0,30]) rotate([90,0,0]) import("c:/data/South_Base_32_1.stl", 10); difference() { translate([120,0,0]) rotate([90,0,0]) scale([1.8, 1.8, 1.8]) import("c:/data/South_Base_32_1.stl", 10); // color("red") // cylinder(r=50, h=2); } } Ignore the 'difference' command for now. And also the two lines that have been // Remarked out. The important bit is the two 'import' commandc. They both load a file stored in the C:\Data folder. The '10' is the 'convexity'. That is 'how many walls at most will an imaginary beam pass through when going through this object. 10 is a reasonably guess. But for really messy bases, you can up this number. Translate and rotate just moves the base closer to the center of the coordinate system and aligns it in a sensible way. This gets you this: For fun, add '//' in front of the 'difference' command, and remove them from the other two lines. This gets you: The 'scale' command should have the same values in all the parameters, unless you want the base to look 'off' The small base visible is just for reference. Take a look at the cylinder statement. It has two parameters. R(radius) which we can ignore, and H(height). We can adjust H until we are satisfied with what is left of the original base visible. In this case, a value of 4 seems OK. Now we remove the '//' in front of the 'difference' line, and we get: If you're just using Preview, like I do, it'll look like Minotaur Droppings, so lets RENDER! But first, either delete or Remark out the lines loading the small base. And THAT can be exported as an .STL file and printed.

I ended up repainting the roof, I painted it all a dark brown and then drybrushed some of the original colours back in. The plants are a mix of my own home made items, and Diorama Presepe's items. I also added fence posts, a wooden gate and some moss.
