  1. Finished the following 5 from the Bones 5 town set: 211, 215, 216, 221 and 222. Really like how they all came out, especially the face on the young mother in green.

  2. Finished 2 Bones Rogues lately, Romag Davl (SKU 30004) and the bald rogue from Bones 5 (number 903). Not too happy with Mr Bald's sword, but meh its tabletop, and he is done! I managed to paint eyes under that hood, go me!

  4. So my husband bought me the Army Painter Speedpaint Megaset, so I had to try it! It kicked me out of my painting lull, and I was overall very productive in June (8 total, 6 of which were painted with the Army painters. First up, Giant Eagle from Wizkids (SKU WZK73724), really impressed with how well the paints work on feathers! Next I tried on Reaper Bones Angel of Protection (77365). The paint had some of the, won't stick to unprimed bones issues, so definitely prime Bones first in a very light color. The Light gray ended up too gray, so I drybrush with pure white after. The Speedpaint skin color looked horrible going on, but once it dried, it looked acceptable. Another bones I tried was the Hangman's Gibbet (SKU 77619), again I ran into the must prime first problem, and had to apply a second coat, so it ended up too dark. The most successful Bones I did was the Harrowgate Shrine (SKU 77723), I did go over it with some colored washes with other colors, but I spent less than 30 minutes on it. The last Bones I finished was Tristan Loremistress (Bones 5,1110). I had primed her first and spent quite a bit of time cleaning her up after using the speedpaints, but I still say it saved time overall. And the most successful experiment is presented last, Wizkids Blue Dragon Wyrmling (SKU WZK73852). With lots of textures and a uniform color scheme, it took me maybe 30 mins total to paint the basecoat, then paint the eyes, claws and teeth.

  6. This is another dark elf from the Grenadier Elf Sinister box set (SKU 3002) that i am in the middle of painting. That project has kind of stalled, I have 8 more half painted. I lost interest in painting last fall and only painted occasionally. Finished this guy in January. Only this month (June) have I finished enough to bother getting out the light box and take pictures.

  7. Love the Midlam halflings, here is the Halfling Woodcutter (SKU HTC22). Actually finished this guy back in October last year .

  9. I like the tehnolog romans, they are quite simple but very effective after being painted! The shield is a plastic piece used to cover screws on furniture 😁 Thanks for looking!

  10. The main point of this guy was to force myself to focus heavily on colors I tend to shy away from (specifically, white and yellow). I also experimented with a different type of skin tone. The design on the shield took forever, but I'm happy with the results. Looking back, I can definitely see where I could have taken the highlights further on the armor.

  11. I almost gamed. 🙄 Chris Palmer and I were supposed to play Rangers of Shadow Deep, but I found, as we were setting up, that I had inadvertantly (or inattentively) left my character sheets at home, so we did a shopping run instead. I did get some hobbying done, though. The Muses granted me some inspiration to work on some 40mm semi-flat imagi-nations troops, following the game my son and I had with these guys last weekend.

  12. OH YEAH! No gaming, but I did some painting, sculpted a few mushrooms including a personable one, & made a Labyrinth style doorknocker.

  13. Knowing myself, it would probably take me a while to even realize something went wrong, yet be unsurprised. I'd probably take the path of the wise, yet crazy, hermit. I'll live at the fringe of society, sometimes mingle. I'm surprisingly diplomatic, so I'd help mediate in conflict resolution. Also, I grew up in the pre-internet age, so I know how to live without being connected 24/7. I have not. We had a late game last Thursday, and had to cancel Sunday's game (one of the player's birthday). But planning for another game this evening.

  16. In more serious Naval News, the Destroyer Escort Samuel B. Roberts wreck site has been located. The "Sammy B." played a key role in the Battle of Leyte Gulf during the campaign to retake the Philippines during WWII. The Sammy B is the deepest wreck ever discovered, lying at a depth of over 22,500 feet [6,895 meters]. Link to article: https://news.yahoo.com/uss-samuel-b-roberts-worlds-142237965.html GEM

  17. I painted this fellow a couple of months back. Acrylic baselayer and highlights, washed with oils. When doing my lights as a zenithal, I find it easy to follow as was the case here. The shades are where they‘re supposed to be and the highlights as well. I find it very hard to paint the lights when not coming from a zenithal and I struggle so much with OSL too. I think I need a lot more practice.

  18. Didn't game, but spent a lot of time and energy on the 3d printer. Finally got input shaper done, abd I'm rather happy with what it does. Wasn't fun troubleshooting I had the cable something like 9" too long but whatever, I got it to work which is what counts. Technically I'm still on my weekend, as I wound up getting today off as a surprise yesterday, but that's also why I keep a few vacation ndays handy - we rotate who gets the day off if there isn't enough work to justify all routes. But yeah, I finally have a decision on what colours I'll be slowly switching to on my Voron Trident, so I'm definitely happy there. Going to go from sparkle Bright Orange with a sparkle Cloud Grey accent to sparkle Galaxy Black with sparkle Bright Orange as the accent. I have to print spare parts anyways, so might as well work towards the desired colours. As to why I didn't do such initially? Galaxy Black was sold out at the time, so the printing service I went through couldn't get me the colours I wanted.

  19. I got a tiny amount of painting done last night, but this weekend was the 50th anniversary of my city's volunteer run community festival (Comfest). So I spent the majority of the weekend volunteering at the festival and hanging out drinking beer and listening to live music with a few tens of thousands of my neighbors. Good times.

  22. Just some bulk skeletons...nothing special. The spears were pretty bent when I got them. I worked with them a little to straighten them out, but figured I wouldn't spend too much time driving myself crazy (these were cheapies, after all 🙂). The detail on these guys is fairly soft, but they get the job done on the table. Sorry for the quality on the group shot. Wide shots aren't my camera phone's specialty.

  27. Zombies. Or maybe a near miss from a comet that showered us with magic/radioactive space dust. I survive by my wits, skills, and common sense. I'm the scrounger. I'm also a very good shot, and have a fairly good sense of tactics, so I'm in charge of defense. Yes, I did some painting. You'll see the results eventually.

  31. In the end I wasn't very happy with how the shield turned out, so I swapped it for a simpler, more down to earth one 😅 I like it better now!

  32. It has been relatively nice here. Despite the national heat wave we've had 3-4 cool rainy days this week and no complaints from me about it. Yesterday was our game group session, and we're about to get on Borderlands and blow up some bad guys. Spent the morning cleaning house/doing yard work. And I got some painting in there. Gotta go flip laundry before I start the game box up.

  33. Saturday, hell the whole weekend has been slow on here. Everyone must be enjoy that "wonderful" Summer weather most of are experiencing. Here's a pretty nice day, to bad most of my day is ending, as I'm heading off to bed here in a few. Oh, family just pulled up, back from the grocery store. Need to go do my pack mule imitation.
