  1. Okay...so it's just six. But that's enough to get the job done. The sculpted details are pretty low on these guys, but some washes gave them a little more depth. I went with two black ones, two brown ones, and two gray ones.

  2. This guy originally had a cat familiar on his base, but I removed that to set aside for a future project. I really like how the highlighting came out, as well as the decoupaged book pages. His color scheme is based off of the Knickerbocker LOTR Gandalf figure from the 70's (a toy I admire, but will never be able to afford as long as I've got this pesky mortgage).

  3. Finished up my 3d print of Riverwind. That leaves two more Heroes of the Lance to go (and lets me mark "Man of Krynn, Plainsman," off of my master Dragonlance monster list). Riverwind probably has even less artwork to go on than Flint did. He's most commonly depicted wearing pale clothes (whether that's undyed skin or pale fabric varies) and a gray fur top (I'd think wolf skin, and that's what I used for a color reference). I added some freehand on the loincloth since it didn't have any real clothing value so figured there must be a more decorative purpose. I did the same on his shield (I can't think of any culture that failed to decorate shields). I used the ivory triad quite a bit here, the neutral gray triad, and a lot of the blood color triad (gave a good warmth to his flesh).

  6. My chaos faction is Tzeentch. Rainbow magic need not be limited to only one mage... I heard the best story tonight. My landlord's MIL (or Land Baroness as I call her) told me about being in Pine Lake when the tornado touched down in July 2000. She said her neighbours had some Chinese relatives visiting from Hong Kong, and they were staying in a 5th wheel. When the announcment came over the radio, the people fled to the arena (It's a vacation village on a lake, not a lot of basements). These people didn't understand the warnings. They attempted to hide under the hitch of the trailer. The Land Baroness's husband pulled them out from under the trailer and took them to safety. Pretty awesome.

  9. Our ancient grouch-puss hates having her nails trimmed. She can no longer maintain them herself, so we have to do it. And she hates it. Mumsy holds her in a cat burrito and I do the trimming. Mumsy: "Most girls like having their nails done." I couldn't stop laughing.

  11. Hi all! How do you do? It's been a while since I last shared a mini here. I recently converted and painted one for my egyptian-themed Frostgrave warband. Since the mini is a female and has bare breasts, I am supposed -as per the forum rules- to post links to the pictures instead of displaying them directly in the post. So consider this topic slightly NSFW. To begin with, here is the mini I started with: https://www.reapermini.com/search/yanara https://legolemquireve.files.wordpress.com/2022/01/p1090389.jpg For the conversion, here's what I did: Sawed the head off. A brutal surgery but a necessary one. [picture] Replaced the head with a bald one from Statuesque Miniatures. [picture] Filed off the remaining hair with a Dremmel power tool. [picture] Filed off the belt decoration and replace it with an Ankh cross. Resculpted the piece of fur on her shoulders and upper back. Cut off the top of her staff and replace it with an egyptian staff decoration (a double ostrich feather ornament) The result after the conversion: https://legolemquireve.files.wordpress.com/2022/06/p1090830.jpg After priming in off-white: https://legolemquireve.files.wordpress.com/2022/06/p1090832.jpg And finally, the painted mini: [Front Picture] / [Side Picture 1] / [Side Picture 2] / [Back Picture] / [Close-up Picture] If you want to see the pictures directly, you may visit my blog post (although it's written in french): https://legolemquireve.wordpress.com/2022/06/29/sandgrave-djesa-la-thaumaturge/

  14. If I ever have free time again, I need to get out there with the scythe; the grass is taller than I am in places. .. at least.. I think that's grass. >.> .. The FRONT! .. the laurel, and some of the baby maple .. The BACK! .. some of it, anyway. The trench got filled in, and I have a loose plot involving one of those 'wishing well' things and the wellhead; mostly to keep somebody from backing a Heavy Equipment over it.... I don't know which would be ruined by that, and I don't want to find out. So, cutesy yard sculpture. The white rosebush growing on the 'garage', doin' it's thing. One of the roses planted next to the house; currently the only one blooming. It usually does its thing, and I leave it alone, other than dead-heading it. This is a volunteer; and I'm not sure what it is. The blooms are about the size of your average penny, and it's pretty happy; hopefully this is a good enough picture that a search will tell me useful things. Poppies! They pop up all over the place; last year they were by the apple tree, and not nearly as vivid. Annnd the um... heck. I know what this is, but I can't remember. I think it's a brand of clematis, but I don't remember which. The hummingbirds are Really, REALLY into it, though. Sadly, the drought got my actual honeysuckle. Didn't manage to kill this, though.

  17. My probably last order from EM4 miniatures came in. Unpainted releases of some Elfsera monsters (for some reason they had the beholder and direwolf available before so I was waiting and hoping to see the other three show up, and getting the undeads at the same time), the Dunwich Detective ghouls and deep ones that were sold out the last times I put orders in, and a pack of heavily clearanced prepainted orcs, mostly acquired to justify the shipping costs and I guess I wanted a few more oldhammer-ish orcs to offset the Nu-Heroquest orcs and the upcoming Next Level Minis orcs. And also they threw in one slotted base more than needed so that was amusing.

  19. The site visit yesterday did not go as well as I hoped. We were testing a new custom teller software version, and the test process got bogged down by some stupidly simple, but frustratingly difficult problems to sort out with the dollar bill recyclers and coin mech. Got it to the point that all basic operations were working, then left it for the managers to test the user interface so they could ask for their tweaks, and I went on to my game night. This morning I get a call from the owner who rants for 20 minutes about the physical design of the equipment - rants he should have made to engineering when he took delivery of the equipment 8 months ago, or 4 months ago when we set it up in their shop for testing the software/hardware. On the upside of things, last nights game of Burrows and Badgers was quite fun. My Racoon Cleric and Otter Ranger are bad a$$3s.

  20. Poor Khonsu. He always gets the bad rep in fiction. If there's a deity who deserves to be called a jerk, it's Isis. Isis deposed Ra by causing a supernatural scorpion to sting him. In unbearable agony, Ra gave his True Name to Isis, so she could work her magic to heal him. She did, but it cost him the throne of the gods. Isis put her own son, Horus, on the throne. Horus and Set often battled, and it makes me want to cheer for the Embodiment of Chaos.

  23. Huh, never realized Interac was only Canadian..... Covid seems to have greatly accelerated the replacement of the older devices. Apparently the old ones struggled with being flooded with sanitizer after every transaction. Go figure. I actually had to swipe a card (Scene points card for the theatre maybe) the other week. It had been so long since I'd done that I'd forgotten just how awkward it is to do the swipe if you are left handed.

  24. I have no pets… Last time I interacted with pets they were someone else’s cats or dog. But here are three. —Are you friendly? —How did you get so tangled up buddy? —Will ya hold still for me? The dog answered (in doggo-speak) as follows and in order: Yes Please help me? Okay…

  25. Every merchant. Gas stations, and by association, Car Washes actually got a later deadline than other types of merchants, due to the specialized equipment and outdoor environment. This. Technically, the deadlines for the US and Canada were originally the same, but here in the US they keep getting pushed back more than in Canada. Part of the issue here in the US is our financial infrastructure is far larger and more fragmented than in Canada. Canada has their own dedicated debit card network call Interac that helped push it through faster there. Sorry, that makes even funnier to me!

  31. Thanks, but I can't take credit for it being freehand. I designed and printed out the pages and applied them with decoupage (basically, a few coats of watered-down glue). Then I aged the pages with some washes to do the final blend on everything.

  33. Books, fabric, crafting supplies, clothing patterns, fashion dolls, yarn, paint, art supplies. Electrical cords, apparently. Old bookstore. Christmas (combo of pine, baking cookies, and that cold smell). The air after a rain/thunderstorm. Fresh laundry. Clean house. Yes. I cannot focus in a mess, but I have a hard time not having a mess, and the mess makes me depressed, so it grows while I feel more and more paralyzed by the mess. I’m going to go with geomagnetic super storm, because I just read an article on that. Electrical grids are down, because power companies prioritize profits over being prepared. Civilization has crashed because we don’t know how to function without electricity. My niche is knowing how to make things: clothes, food, shelter, gardens, etc, without the use of electricity. Yes, we have a regular Rifts game most Saturdays. We had a big battle and I effed stuff up. I don’t have any pets, aside from my toddler.

  35. For the cats: Why do you keep stealing our socks and hiding them. And why do you insist on eating until you barf? For the dog: First off, thanks for helping clean up the cat barf. But why are you so afraid of getting wet? It's weird and not dog like at all.

  36. Just an update on my teeny tiny glasses efforts. I was shooting for something semi-realistic -- not steampunk goggles, or big cartoon Velma glasses. I tried every super-thin wire and thread I could get my hands on, only to discover that miniature faces are really small! LOL! I could make something as tiny as I could physically see and handle, only to then bring it to the mini's face and find it was STILL comically too big. I think a sculptor working digitally, where they could zoom in to see, could maybe create a mini that included realistic glasses. But even if it were possible to 3D print something the right size (I'm skeptical), I don't think I could physically handle the end result. Someone else might be more dexterous than I, but I think I'm going to just have to admit defeat on this one. Maybe the paladin stores his glasses in a protective case during combat. He's nearsighted, after all, and fighting melee, so doesn't need them then. Yeah, that's the ticket. 😉

  38. Last night we picked up Youngest Vixen from the Airport after she had been away for studying in Norway for 6 Months. Despite Farmer Protests and Delayswe got her home safely. WOOF FOOD LOG: Saturday's Dinner: A Pitabread with Adana Kebab, a Salad of Spinach/Macademia Nuts/Strawberries/Cucumber and dressing of Applecidervinegar/Lemon Juice/Olive Oil and Honey. Apologies..our Agent was a little hungry and took a big bite of the pita before we could take a pic. My girl made fresh Applesauce, I put some cinnamon and powdered sugar over it ( despite the fact that it already contained cinnamon...what can I say? I just love cinnamon) SUNDAY's DINNER: Toasted Baquette on a bed of Babyspinach, warm Crispy Bacon, Goat Cheese from the Oven with Pinenutseeds and Honey/Lemon Dressing.
