  1. Watch out Paladins and clerics, she is here for your virtue! I think I have a problem. This is succubus number 4 for my collection. I've used succubi once in a campaign during my 30 years of playing RPGs. I guess I should use them more often...

  2. Taking some advice after the last lady vamp I painted, this one got a blue wash on the flesh... it kind of looks like a "noble" half-orc now. I guess I should work on my choice of colors for undead flesh.

  3. I can see the bottom of my dungeon dweller box. You always know when I am nearing the end of a project because the hobbits start getting painted. I did a lot of experimenting with these three. I tried 3 different grisaille undercoats to use with the AP speed paints (left: coat d' arms Flesh, middle: straight grey to white, right: coat d' arms bone). I like how the left one turned out best. Getting a nice smooth skin tone using grisaille is more difficult than I thought it would be.

  5. I love that this death knight has a hole in his center so you can see how he died! Sorry, you can't see it in the photo, poor lighting options in my home where I photograph my minis.

  7. I have been feeling overwhelmed all day. It started when I was writing a Christmas letter to my Sisters kids (and including checks). One of her kids has made some life choices this year I am having trouble with, and writing an encouraging note was stressing. It sat in the back of my head, and made everything else just a little harder. My Elderspawn is having exams this week & they had emotional support dogs at her school to help . I would have loved an emotional support Dog to pet at school, even if you have to stand in a line. Heck I would like an emotional support dog now - I have two cats, but neither picked me as fav person/lap so they are little help. anyway I should go paint a pig in three colors. or at least prime it for tomorrow. I realized this evening I did a tavern called the "Whistling Pig" for a Diorama and forgot to paint the pig for it.

  12. Well, I dunno about these "part time" jobs. Since I retired I have had several, didn't need the money, but enjoy getting out of the house and having some extra cash in the "hobby fund". But EVERY job I have gotten has wound up with working more hours than expected [or really wanted]. Again, supposed to be off today, but someone didn't show up so they called me. And then as soon as I get off, heading to our Church's Christmas Dinner. It is always fun with lots of games and laughter.

  13. Well, bugger. I remember Vince from the early cons. We may have played some Warlord and the various dungeon crawls together. He organized the group outings for sushi dinner for a number of years. Haven't seen him at the con in a while, though.

  14. I try to. I don't have much focus, though. Obviously the fusion net gain caught my attention. I always check the health, science, and technology sections of any major news outlet that I read.

  15. I still do, I get Archaeology Digest every 2 months to stay current on the latest discoveries. I also religiously watch PBS Eons, Storied, The British Museum, zefrank1 and Overly Sarcastic Productions on YouTube due to all the great information that they give. Quality education of the masses has always been very important to me.

  18. I've been up since around 230 this morning. I really hate this time of the year as far as my sleep schedule. I can go hours without sleep & when I do, I sleep for 2-3 hrs & I'm good for anther stretch run. I had to force myself to sleep yesterday when I got home from work cause I knew I needed it & I wouldn't be able to after the game last night. Pretty fun night at the FLGS, thou the owner did say some changes are happening in 2023, which I hope won't affect my game or schedule. I should have chatted with him after the game, but I needed to get one of the players home last night. Mainly we did quite a bit of role-playing vs combat, etc etc. I had them go on a bit of a wild goose chase but overall it would have put them in the same spot as the main quest. I'm running an adventure that was made to take up the missing level in the Saltmarsh book, which means return of the yuan-ti! They investigated a grotto that was used my giants as a burial chamber where they would chuck their dead into a underground river. As the party was getting ready to investigate the river more I had 4 hill giants arrive. The simple task of placing 4 of those onto the map was enough that the party didn't want to stick around, thou one player wanted to chat it up with them, but he knew if he didn't get into the boat, he'd be stuck there. We started to run some river "combat" which mostly is them rolling a d6 on their turn & then comparing the results to a hazard chart, eventually the boat is going to arrive at a Y where both flows end in waterfalls. One flow is just more dangerous then the other. In the end they will end up in the Underdark & into a large mushroom forest with a large lake (hence the huge shark minis I need to find). We'll put this adventure on ice for a couple weeks & I'll bring out the Taken by Krampus! adventure for the remaining Weds of the year. There is special place for people like this. I think the last time I got hit was small minor transaction with my bank card to amazon. The amounts were small enough I didn't catch them until I saw a big one like $100+. It took a bit of digging, but overall I did get this fix & my bank refund everything. The total amount was around $400 IIRC + it was during 2020 so yah the drive-thru contact was annoying but was the only way we could do it.

  19. Dang it... Having a look at my mini spreadsheets and not only did I stop adding stuff to them a while ago, I didn't take anything off when I had a bit of a clear out a couple months ago, so most of them need redoing from scratch. Not sure if I should bother, I'm pretty good at not buying the same mini twice.

  20. I mainly think it's the price, and them not realizing that hey, that kit is 20-30 hours of work just in assembly (with how I build), I can paint it, I can mod it, there's a ton of things I can do with it. But when I ask for sanding sponges (or pre-cut sandpaper) and it's two sets, they'll only buy one of them, thinking I only need one *rolls eyes* (or I say "hey, I really need three of these things so I don't knock them over" I get one...)

  21. Well crap, gathering up minis for tonight's adventure & it appears I've misplaced a huge size shark.... How I can lose a big mini like that I have no clue?? It's just the head emerging from the water but it fits a 3x3 base. I'm also missing it's mate, which is also a huge sized mini, this one is just the snout & dorsal fin. Thankfully, I don't think the players will manage to get to these tonight, so I can hold off a bit before having to do reprints on both...ugh. At least I've got everything else ready.

  23. So, I just started the hobby, picked up the, 'Reaper Miniatures 08906 Learn to Paint Kit Core Skills' package. Got my little painting area setup, and took about 90 minutes to complete, so here is my first mini. Sadly the images really don't do it justice, you can't quite make out the subtle drybrush highlights, or the crevices where the wash really did a good job. I went a little rogue, and decided to dot in two red eyes... although that was not part of the instructions, I wanted to give this guy a little something unique.

  25. Truth. It’s cold. It’s cloudy. I was having decent dreams which I don’t remember well. Would make a great lazy day. Doesn’t help that the last song in the radio before walking into the office was “Happy With You” by Paul McCartney. But I am at work. I have some tasks that are interesting. So there’s that. Got to see geminid meteors last night when the dogs wanted out. Can’t be a bad day.

  27. No. The base itself was a build plate. But, there is a version of it that is one piece that could technically fit on one plate with some extra bits along with it, like the arms and the shoulder spikes. It also does not come pre-supported and probably wouldn't fit in my wash and cure anyway if I did my own.. Plus the angling would be kind of weird. Other than that I was able to fit everything but the two tail pieces on one plate. It was about 2.25 plates.

  28. I'm a meteorology buff. I like watching weather patterns develop across the globe, particularly in N America. This current week-long storm system that's been strolling across the country hasn't been as interesting as I'd hoped. Other than that I read whatever headlines catch my attention, archaeology, paleontology, social change, medical news, etc. Ditto. I did watch part of the Artemis flyby but they didn't spot the secret Nazi base on the moon, so I'm not sure what the point of that was.

  29. I've done so much painting in the last couple of years and I'm always too lazy to take pictures. Finally got around to it.... All Reaper Paints, all the time. For some reason I just love miniatures wearing packs. Awesome Snail from Monkstone Miniatures Copied this paint scheme from Kangaroorex (brilliant idea, sandy looking from the top, sky looking from the bottom). This is the Western Desert Dragon (03670) from Reaper. It looks like this is an old model and there were some problems with the mold. I had to cut the base apart to get it to lie flattish and the wings didn't fit quite right. Still a very cool model. Three demon toads from Rotten Factory. I'm really happy with how the shell turned out on this super creepy snail rider from Whilhelm Miniatures. Very cool miniature from Red Bard Games. I was really happy with the wheel tracks I made with green stuff, but I'm a little disappointed with the grass. I was aiming for patches of dead grass in the road, but I think I ended up with too much contrast between the grass colors. Next time I plan to mix the static grass to get more realistic variations. Three virus themed Beholders from Westfalia Miniatures Is that a halfling riding a giant goose? I don't know why, but it is awesome. Miniforge Miniatures Dwarf riding a Yak from Stonehaven Miniatures

  30. Yeah, unfortunately in the US most don't, or they have such convoluted requirements for part timers that many don't get benefits. That's part of the reason that health care and minimum wage increases have been in the news so often in recent years. A lot of the large retailers and similar companies make profits by paying workers as little as they can get away with legally. Not just things that happened, but how society was significantly different 20, 30 and 50 years ago. We have changed, in some ways for the better, and some for the worse.

  32. Was reading one of those articles where they show pictures of old print ads from past decades and bag on them about how "cringey" they are... All of them were no-brainers until they got to this one about ten or twelve ads in. The comment for this one... ...Was "Real or not, this fake Nichols machine gun is no Nerf territory. Get hit with 100 of these pellets coming at you all at once, and you’ll be laid up for days." Many of us here are old enough to understand why this is an eye-roller. They were doing sooo well with their snarky moral superiority until then, lol...

  35. Print successfully cleaned, removed and desupported without accidentally breaking anything. Great success. Had a bit of a play around with the joins once I’d cured it too. They slot in well. Room to play with positioning, so not too tight, but without being too loose either. Just need to figure out the best positions, but that will be easier to see once I’ve printed the base. I was tempted to print the base and tail overnight, but I’ll play it smart and do that tomorrow night when I get home from work, just so it’s a bit warmer.

  36. Build plate 1 of the huge red dragon done in just under 10 hours. I need to have a closer inspection, but it looks like it all printed well. Down to about 1-2cm left of resin in the tank at the end of the print. I topped it up to max at the start of the print.

  37. Well, I'm 5 hours into the first of 2 build plates for my red dragon. So far it seems to have printed nicely and stayed attached to the supports, so fingers crossed we make it to the end.

  38. Cool, so about as much as the Cast n Play huge red dragon I’m about to print. Did it fit on one build plate?

  39. Close to success, but not quite. Supports ripped on the biggest mini. Looks like it got super close to the end before failing. These were all auto-supported with light support. So I’ll have to add a few more medium supports in future.

  40. It was about half a bottle I'd say, maybe a bit more. Everything is hollow except for the two big spikes on the shoulders and the broken bridge on the base, which are separate pieces. Printed using Sirayatech Fast Navy Grey on a Saturn 2.

  43. My son has requested constantly a “make your own watch” kit for three years in a row. His momma won’t get it because she lives and breathes on product reviews. They are not good for the kit. But I broke down and got that for him this year. Then had to add the tool kit needed to build the rotten thing. Wound up being a lot more than I planned but now the two of them won’t argue about it. Worth it.

  45. Yah, it's Vince Hendricks aka Shakendara. Sounds like it may have been a heart attack. VInce was one of the good guys. There was a couple times I went with the group out for dinner on Saturday night at ReaperCon. One year was to a sushi place, I don't eat sushi but I went for the company & I got some chicken teriyaki. The next year we went to the Pizza place that served premium pies that are made in a stone oven & they make their own mozerella. Fantastic food but ever better company. For those that don't know, Vince is the guy in the pink shirt. RIP, my friend, you well be missed by allot of people.
