Hello you cross pollinations of Reaper Lovers and Star Wars addicts! So my wife is not a big fan of miniatures, but she does happen to like baby Yoda quite a lot, so when this came out, I knew I had to get it and paint him for her. When I pre-ordered it, I didn't realize it was going to be so small, he's really petite. I'm guessing maybe about 18-20 mm in height, it was also really nice because he's such a simple figure, it only took maybe four hours to paint. No weapons, pouches or Dingly Danglies, was very simple and the eyes were large enough to work nicely with them as well. I did his little jacket a little darker than it shows up in the show because I wanted some contrast between his cuffs and fluffy lamb skin fur about his head. So anyhow, a slightly belated merry Christmas to you all again!15 points

Another from Bombshell! Logging is a dangerous occupation. Lots of falling trees, sharp blades, bad weather...these are all part of the job. But there are OTHER hazards, too. Take care where you lay your axe--some areas of the forest are Off Limits. Spend long enough harvesting and culling and the local spirits learn how to do it too. Hopefully they have learned sustainable forestry rather than clear-cutting. (Group shot includes a Saproling, familiar, Spirit of the Forest, and Swamp Shambler.)13 points

One thing about SPACE: it's a bad place to have a breakdown. Spaceships are expensive and complicated; they are your entire world and means of survival out in the black. Lucky for you, the Zap Bros are here! Danny, Joe, and Grexlar founded an interplanetary franchise of mobile repair stations. Danny is an Earth-human businessman, formerly ran a shipyard parts supply store. First-rate at logistics. Joe is an uplifted gorilla, a mechanical genius. If it can be taken apart and put back together, Joe is the ape for the job. If it can't, that just takes him a bit longer. Grexlar is a Martian engineer and physicist, a master diagnostician. Mass-drive, fusion, fission, gravitronics, hyperdrive manifold, warp modulator--no matter what should make the ship go, he can figure out why it won't. After going into business in the Asteroid Belt and making a pile (credits, friends, and favors) the three started expanding the business into a chain. You could populate a small moon with the beings who owe their life to a Zap Bros Rescue & Tow. In fact, the O'Neill cylinder "Long Day's Journey Into Night" did just that. More angles of the three: The Zap Bros have very high standards for whom they hire, but pay excellent wages and have no species restrictions. Robots welcome! *** Specifics: Danny is a mechanic from CP's Sci-fi Civilians line. Joe is Crooked Dice's Starport Fueler modified with Green Stuff. Grexlar is Reaper's Alien Tracker--I can't find the SKU for the metal guy but he's part of the Bones 49001, Alien Overlords set. The desk is also Crooked Dice, and the big-screen monitor is from Bombshell's galley and rec area set. The simpler robot is also Bombshell, MaCbot. The repair specialist bot is a Warmachines Convergence fella bought secondhand. The asteroid ship is a bunch of kitbashed junk, mostly Christmas ornaments and several GW greebles. Stay safe out there, cadets!12 points

The Egyptians of old venerated the scarab as an aspect of Ra, the motivator that propelled the Sun across the sky like a dung-ball. Thousands of years later, the red desert has covered the sacred sites, and vulgar adventurers dig for treasure. But it does not do to profane the shrine of a god! Or perhaps it is just that, in the desert, everything is hungry. Either way, it's not pleasant. Or quick. What a great pulpy sculpt, and what a horrible way to go!11 points

Here is the Grenadier Efreet. In the catalog they call it “Efreeti”, but I think that’s the plural of Efreet. i discovered by accident that if you use Vallejo “White Stone” basing, you can make a spiky texture by pressing into the material with a small putty knife and then lifting it straight up. That was the inspiration for the lake of fire. After that I tried to do OSL to light him up from below by the fire. I don’t think it was very successful. But now I have something new to chase after to up my painting game.11 points

Also featuring another sci-fi mechanic from CP, this one painted up in the grey jumpsuit and yellow boots of my Moon Communists. He's the one with the sledgehammer. I love this old retro tech! Easy-to-assemble MDF from Crooked Dice, and a bargain at that. (We've already seen Janey of Crooked Dice's Paranormal Exterminators and Bombshell's Helen Salinger before)10 points

I don't know about most important, but I will never buy lightweight kitty litter again. There's more out than in and it turns to cement in the bottom after my kitty pees on it.8 points

While I have nothing in mind now, I'm always trying new recipes. Something will come up.8 points

I never thought about it. It would have to be something foreign I heard about but never encountered locally. @Glitterwolf mentioned African cuisine, and I must admit I am curious about it. A quick search shows me that there is one African restaurant in my area. I might consider it.8 points

The World Baseball Classic starts in March sometime. opening day in the regular baseball season, AND HALLOWEEN...not necessarily in that order. I haven't been buying additional miniatures, but I looking forward to the release of TaleSpinner's catoblepas.7 points

If I'm very lucky and the fulfilment date doesn't slip too much, I should get my Household Fairy minis in the second half of the year!6 points

ReaperCon 2023 is a given. A local popular event is called "La Fabuleuse Histoire d'un Royaume" (the Fabulous History of a Kingdom). It's a big show about a romanticized history of the region of Saguenay where I currently live. Itself named after the legend of the "Kingdom of Saguenay", which is akin to Eldorado as a secret place filled with diamond and gold. And for this particular event, I'm inviting my mother and one of my aunts to see it next summer. As for products. Aside from a few Kickstarters, I don't have anything planned as a major purchase unless something breaks and needs replacement.6 points

Finally getting my paws on some Rosemary & Co brushes, specifically the Red Dot line, the hybrid line (and their 772 dagger stripper), and of course the obligatory series 33. That and maybe some ProAcryl finally, since I've been meaning to try it out for years... And a brush set or two, because I love using their Bomb Wick Artillery line with my watercolour pencils (and surprisingly, hate using my Silver Black Velvet brushes due to lack of feedback. They're great brushes, but virtually no feedback to your paw) Odds are Jackson's Art Supplies will also be involved in some way, because they're the cheapest source for Raphael 8404's and I want to get a few more of those, plus some pencil cases... And speaking of pencils, full sets of Albrecht Durer, Polycromos, as well as Pitt markers from Faber Castell, and on top of it all probably some more from Derwent (the other 36 Inktense colours, the 24 Drawing colours, the 24 Graphitint, and maybe their Lightfast set too)6 points

Events: Feb: Tucson Gem and Mineral Show; we were supposed to go last year, but all got COVID the week before and were forced to cancel. That won't happen this year though, as we have COVID right now and should be good by the show. (I feel like hell now, but knowing I'll be at the height of COVID antibodies for the show and can go, makes me very happy.) Summer: - Camping with my sons - Moving my eldest to Arkansas for med school - Attending his white coat ceremony - ReaperCon 2023!!! (10 years of ReaperCon for me) Products: Well less that I want to get these, but more that you all can get them are the Dark Sword, Dragons of the Month, all sculpted by me. I've put so much of my heart into these dragons that I just can't wait for you all to see them. (The red should be dropping any day now; I assume today as Dec is almost over, but I have no control over that.) Here is the black which was released in November:6 points

Off the top of my head: I have a gluten free Flatbread recipe I'd like to try soon. And a whole wheat oat bread I'd like to make with kamut flour. Chocolate chip cookies with buckwheat groats instead of nuts. Get into more of the jam backlog, particularly re: berry cookbook. Bought all the berry jams. Have not tried all by long shot. Slow cooker Persian walnut chicken with pomegranate molasses. Homemade nut butters. Lavender salted dark chocolate soy nut clusters. Trying to go to reapercon.6 points

This is a super-simple project that can get as elaborate as you please! Take a DIY plastic Christmas ornament, the kind that you can separate into two hemispheres. Clip off the nubbin that is used as a hanger. Then, decide if you want a sphere or a hemisphere. For a hemisphere, you may need to cut a circle of the right size to form a lid or a cap. Slap on some paper-clay or air clay, texture with an array of marbles and ball bearings, and voila! Embellish as desired. You can also use the ornaments with windows to make some hollow asteroid bases!6 points

I'm not necessarily against the idea, but there's no burning desire to experiment with a new dish or cuisine. Not at this time, anyway.6 points

I like cooking as many of you know, I also like to eat in restaurants. The African Kitchen is something I'm not really familiar with. So I would love to try that.6 points

Trying to get as much painting done before my vacation ends. Still nowhere close to beating last year's record but I'm glad I'm at least putting a small dent in things. First up, an armored skeleton from the classic Bones. The final color reminds me of SOMETHING but I can't for the life of me recall what. And next another one of those Nolzur's Pain In The Posterior Miniatures, those two dangling loincloth bits that are separate parts and it's insanity to get brushes in all that underside and paint cleanly. I did the best I could. In 6 years of DMing I've never even considered using the Gith so I just didn't bother looking up references and had fun with the colors instead. And last, a conversion of Oin The Dwarf from The Hobbit Heroclix. I like this one because it just FEELS versatile. Mage, cleric, fighter, etc., it all works well for him IMO.5 points

Admittedly it is not likely to be a frequent occurrence, but one might consider the possibility that the animal had swallowed a bag of coins belonging to the last person who tried to kill it.5 points

Bones 6 is something I'm looking forward to, though I'm not in a hurry to get it (gives me more time to add to my pledge). Also, the 10th edition of 40K will be coming out and new models are going to be springing up all over the place.5 points

That always kinda broke the immersion in the game for me. I understand it's a fantasy game, but let's try to be at least a little realistic. You might get a few coins for the pelt, but the poor critters isn't just going to drop a bag of coins when you kill it.5 points

This is another one of my attempts to paint something simple. I tried to add some texture to the lion to make it look more furry and less smooth by painting all the highlights in lines. I'm not sure how well it worked, but it's a technique I haven't used very much yet so I'll have to experiment more.4 points

We were out yesterday so stopped by the FLGS, which was still having it's 15% off everything boxing day sale. I picked up the AP Air desert sand triad. I may already have it (I couldn't remember what all I picked up when I was trying to find a good dunkelgleb) but with Afrika Korps and 8th Army to do, I figured I'd need lots of sand colours. Also snagged an Afrika Korps medium artillery. Pretty keen to start working on those two armies after watching the SAS Rebel Heroes series on Prime......4 points

Yes it is possible. No longer economically viable as a business venture, but it is possible. Well, there are systems out there that you can preload an account and access it with just a code number you enter into a keypad... They're not that secure because anyone with the code can use the funds, but they do exist. Of course, who is going to knowingly use Bigfoot's code without his permission?4 points
